I just know this: A whole lot has happened. For anyone who's found a piece of your life in any of my songs, this is for you. Open a cold drink, get out on your deck or your boat or wherever your happy space is, jump in, and live them along with me.And if you've got dreams, whatever they are, know they don't always come easy. Memories of J.C. Holdway from his sister, Juanita Holdway Evans; Chef Joseph Lenn; and her daughter, Emily Lenn. Fred Saucepan shares Joe and Janette Carter's Chow Chow recipe and kitchen memories. Today, I went to the deep freeze and pulled out a recording that I made in 2016 with Chef Joseph Lenn, Joseph's mother (Emily Lenn), and a late friend of mine, Juanita Evans, who was Joseph Lenn's grandmother and the sister of J.C. Holdway. J.C. Holdway is the namesake of the downtown Knoxville restaurant created by Chef Joseph Lenn and named after his Uncle Joe. The restaurant, J.C. Holdway, has been in the news lately, receiving the prestigious designation of “Recommended” by the renowned Michelin Guide in its inaugural regional publication of restaurants in the Southeast. Chef Lenn is also a James Beard Award–winning chef. I thought it would be a great time to play this recording we made together before he opened his restaurant. I am an artist, and I wanted to paint a portrait of Uncle Joe as a kind of encouraging gift to Chef Lenn before the restaurant was created. You may have seen that painting, along with my portraits of Allan Benton, Eugenia Duke, Bill Best, and John Coykendall at J.C. Holdway. We also hear a recording by Fred Saucepan with memories from Janette and Joe Carter (children of A.P. and Sara Carter of the original band The Carter Family) as he shares their recipe for Chow Chow. And I share news of the Resilient Farmer Fund fundraiser concert tonight (Nov. 15, 2025) at the Paramount Theatre in Bristol, TN/VA. Doors open at 6, and music starts at 7 p.m.
Lameness is the most common cause of poor performance in equine athletes, and researchers have shown that many behavioral issues under saddle are caused by physical pain. Proactive treatment strategies can help extend your horse's competitive career and improve his overall well-being. During this Ask TheHorse Live Q&A, two experts will answer questions about equine performance problems and how veterinarians prevent and treat them.Brought to you by Arthramid. About the Experts: Beau Whitaker, DVM, CERP, grew up near Nashville, Tennessee on his family's farm, developing a love for horses and livestock. He obtained a degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University, in Stillwater, after which he trained quarter horses in Gainesville, Texas for a short time. Whitaker graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, in College Station, in 2005. Whitaker moved to Salado, Texas, and joined Dr. T's Equine Clinic in 2007 (which later became Brazos Valley Equine Hospitals-Salado) where he established a busy lameness and sports medicine part of the clinic. He received his CERP in 2014 from the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville. Whitaker enjoys drawing, the outdoors, and spending time with his family when not working with horses.James D. Conway III, DVM, is the Director of Veterinary Professional Services with Contura Vet. Conway has been an industry veterinarian for the past eight years. Prior to his role in industry, he served as an associate veterinarian at a large regional referral lameness and rehab facility in north Texas. Conway is a 2012 graduate of Colorado State University Veterinary School, in Fort Collins, where he was heavily involved with equine stifle and condylar fracture research. Conway completed an internship at Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery in 2013 and upon completion started his own lameness and sports medicine practice in the panhandle of Texas and Oklahoma. Conway has been invited to speak at numerous universities in the U.S. and Canada and at the ACVS and AAEP national conferences. His publications over bisphosphonates, the equine stifle ethesis, and medial condylar fractures can be found in the Equine Veterinary Journal and Equine Veterinary Education.
Send us a textStories change the way we work, but meetings change what we do next. That belief runs through our conversation with Sarah Braley (aka Sally), managing editor at Northstar Meetings Group and a veteran journalist whose passport and notebook have shaped how planners think about destinations, incentives and experience design. We trace Sally's path from early magazine days to becoming a trusted voice at Meetings & Conventions and Incentive, and we explore how the shift from monthly issues to daily digital reporting transformed the job—and the industry.Sally breaks down why experience design matters more than ever, offering practical ways to build programs that engage attention, respect budgets and deliver outcomes attendees can use. We dive into inclusive F&B strategies, from allergy-aware registration to vegetarian-first menus that improve quality and reduce waste. She also makes a compelling case for rethinking destination strategy: while mega-conventions draw headlines, most gatherings host under 100 people, and smaller cities like Burlington, Toledo and Knoxville can deliver outsized impact with walkability, character, and value. For incentive travel, bucket list markets such as Australia and New Zealand still shine when authenticity and access are thoughtfully planned. If you work in PR, you'll get clear guidance on what makes a pitch land: B2B relevance, access to the planner, strong visuals and a crisp angle that helps readers do their jobs better. And for editors and planners alike, Sally's on-the-ground role at Northstar events offers a rare view into how content, logistics and attendee experience feed each other.Through downturns and disruption, one truth remains: when the world shifts, people meet to solve problems. Join us to hear what's new, what works and what's next for meetings, conventions and incentives—and how to tell better stories about all three. If this conversation helped you think differently about events, subscribe, share with a colleague, and leave a quick review so others can find the show. You can connect with Sally via email at Please take a moment to rate, review and subscribe to the Media in Minutes podcast here or anywhere you get your podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/media-in-minutes/id1555710662

Holiness isn't a self-help project; it's a relationship sustained by God's own power. In this session, we explore what it means for the Lord to be our Sanctifier, tracing the theme from Exodus and Leviticus all the way to the clarity of 1 Thessalonians 4, Romans 12, and Hebrews 10. Throughout Scripture, sanctification carries a twofold reality: God sets us apart in Christ once for all, and then He continually makes us holy by the Spirit's ongoing work—reshaping our desires, our habits, and the hopes that steer our lives.Matthew leads us into honest territory where sanctification becomes deeply practical—sexual integrity, pride, lust, dishonesty, and the way our bodies themselves are treated as places of worship rather than shame. We explore how surrender becomes the doorway to real transformation, how renewing the mind rewires our reflexes over time, and how Christ's finished work secures our identity even while we continue growing. The biblical paradox that we are “perfected” while “being sanctified” frees us from condemnation and fuels a steady, hopeful pursuit of obedience. We also look at tangible ways to cooperate with God's grace: presenting every part of life to Him as an offering, beginning each day clothed in the armor of God, and using tools like journaling to trace the quiet, faithful progress the Spirit produces in us—progress we might otherwise overlook. Sanctification becomes less about pressure and more about partnership with the God who delights to finish what He starts. This session invites you to run your race with courage, to finish well, and to rest in the faithfulness of the One who began the good work in you and has promised to bring it to completion. Come discover the freedom, hope, and steady maturity that flow from knowing the Lord as the God who sanctifies His people. We are Trinity Community Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.Subscribe to our Podcast & YouTube channel to find past sermons, classes, interviews, and more!Find us on Facebook & Instagram

Formed in Cultural EngagementNovember 9, 2025 • Brad Raby • Romans 12:1–2, Daniel 1This Sunday, Brad Raby, Lead Pastor at Fellowship West, continued our fall series, More Like Him. Teaching on being formed in cultural engagement, Brad looks at Daniel's story to illustrate how God forms His people both in and for their cultural moment. Like Daniel and his friends in Babylon, believers today face a culture that subtly seeks to reshape identity, values, and loyalties—but spiritual formation in Christ enables resistance without fear or contempt. True resistance is rooted not in outrage but in devotion to God—living faithfully, practicing spiritual rhythms, and saying yes to God's presence again and again. Daniel's integrity, wisdom, and humility show that faithfulness and favor can coexist, influencing even hostile systems. Ultimately, Daniel points to Jesus—the greater exile—who entered our “Babylon,” embodying truth and grace, and now sends us into the world as people shaped by His Spirit for the good of our neighbors.MORE LIKE HIM RESOURCES: https://fellowshipknox.org/moreWEBSITE: https://fellowshipknox.org/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/fellowshipknox/

What if the deepest divides in your world aren't political or cultural, but spiritual—and what if they're already defeated? In Built Together, part of the In Christ series, Mark Medley walks through Ephesians 2:13–22 to show how the gospel doesn't just reconcile us to God; it kills the hostility between us. He traces Paul's two-word pivot—“but now”—from the bleak reality of alienation to the bright certainty of peace in Christ. From a literal stone barrier in the Jerusalem temple to the stony barriers in our hearts, Mark reveals how pride, law-keeping, and long habits of suspicion separated Jews and Gentiles—and how the cross fulfilled the law, tore down the wall, and created one new humanity.Mark makes the theology tangible. He describes the Temple inscription that warned outsiders under threat of death and then points to the deeper boundary of the “law of commandments” that became a badge of superiority. Against that backdrop, he declares Paul's good news: Jesus himself is our peace. By his shed blood we're brought near to God; by his broken body we are made one. Communion becomes more than a ritual; it's common union, a table where the ground is level and no one stands taller than grace. With Christ as the cornerstone, the church rises as a living temple—fellow citizens, members of God's household, being fitted together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit. He also names today's termites—prejudice hiding in polite language, curated feeds that inflame contempt, snap judgments we baptize as wisdom. Laws and force can't fix what is wrong in us; we need new hearts. Mark calls us to be born again into a different way of seeing, to invite the Spirit to search and free us. He offers practical steps for clearing the ground in our hearts: remember who you were and who you are now in Christ; confess prejudice as sin; starve the inputs that reward outrage; sit at diverse tables and listen long enough to love; honor the image of God in those you've counted as opponents; speak peace where your world trades in poison.Unity isn't a slogan. It's a miracle secured at Calvary and stewarded with humility, repentance, and hope. If you're hungry for a wider table and a stronger foundation, Mark's message will help you live as a citizen of a kingdom that overrules every wall. Share it with someone who needs the courage to make peace. We are Trinity Community Church in Knoxville, Tennessee.Subscribe to our Podcast & YouTube channel to find past sermons, classes, interviews, and more!Find us on Facebook & Instagram

Later in the episode, we’ll hear from Scott Payne, a retired law enforcement officer who spent twenty-eight years serving his community, including twenty-three years with the FBI. Knoxville to Knoxville! Comedian, actress, and author Leanne Morgan joins Shanna to talk about dreams that take the long way ‘round. Leanne shares how a jewelry-party side gig turned into living-room “comedy clubs,” why a traditional club grind didn't fit while raising three kids, and the early-50s pivot that changed everything—investing in herself, going viral, and selling out a 150-city tour. She opens up about mom-guilt, saying no, setting boundaries with a 25-person team, and the tender stuff she misses about her “old life” (cooking at home, grocery runs, grandbabies). Plus: the joke she almost didn't tell that became a breakout favorite, the best advice she ever got (“work clean”), and what she'd say to her younger self: you weren't crazy—buckle up. Why does God allow pain and suffering? It's one of the most frequently asked questions about God and one that keeps many from choosing to follow Him. Unfortunately, the Bible doesn't offer clear and concise answers to every question we have about suffering. Suffering is unpredictable, messy, and deeply personal. The good news is that Scripture offers us stories of real people who live through suffering and still draw near to God despite not having all their questions answered. Acts 27 is one of those stories. After years of trials and suffering , Paul finds himself in the middle of a violent storm as he sails to Rome. Through Paul's experience and example, we uncover some profound truths that will help us to live well in the midst of suffering in our own lives.

Formed in FriendshipNovember 2, 2025 • Devon Accardi • Proverbs 27:9, Mark 2This Sunday, Devon continued our fall series, More Like Him. Spiritual formation isn't about religious behavior but about transformation into Christ's likeness in every part of life. Humans were created out of relationship by a relational God and therefore for relationship with one another. Sin, however, has fractured this design, leaving both beauty and brokenness in our friendships—deep joy and deep hurt. Using the story of the paralytic and his friends in Mark 2, Devon outlined three marks of formative friendship: intentionality, persistence, and faithfulness—friends who purposefully bring one another closer to Jesus. While good friendships are a gift, only Christ can fully satisfy the relational longing of our souls—the King who calls us “friend.”MORE LIKE HIM RESOURCES: https://fellowshipknox.org/moreWEBSITE: https://fellowshipknox.org/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/fellowshipknox/

What a chaotic week in college football — and not just on the field. Between the YouTube TV–Disney dispute and a string of bizarre finishes, fans everywhere were forced to get creative to follow along. From Miami’s playoff hopes going up in smoke against SMU to Georgia Tech's road loss against NC State and Duke's shootout win over Clemson we had drama, penalties, and questionable officiating in equal measure. Plus, Georgia barely escaped Florida, Texas nearly coughed one up to Vandy, and Oklahoma won in Knoxville over Tennessee.Elsewhere, Texas Tech exploded in the second half against Kansas State, West Virginia capitalized on Houston’s fumble-fest, and Ohio State torched Penn State behind a nearly flawless Julian Sayin. Add in Indiana murdering Maryland, USC surviving Nebraska, and a bunch of quietly telling results across the Power Four, and it’s safe to say that College Football Week 10 lived up to the hype. We break it all down, plus play your Reverbs and close it out with the Dudes of the week. Vision Jet owner Ken joins Max Trescott to recount an unforgettable five-day training adventure that bridged the gap between piston flying and turbine jet proficiency. As a longtime Cirrus SR22 pilot from the Boston area, Ken had spent nearly a decade flying for both business and family trips, rarely exceeding 300 nautical miles from home. When he decided to upgrade to a 2019 G2 Vision Jet, he wanted more than a checkout—he wanted a head start on mastering the airplane before tackling the Cirrus type rating course in Knoxville. In this episode, Ken explains how his "pre-SOE" plan came together. After reaching out to Max, the two pilots scheduled nearly a week of flying to experience diverse weather, airports, and procedures. The goal: to learn the G3000 avionics, improve cockpit workflow, and build real-world familiarity before entering formal training. Their first day took them from Bedford, Massachusetts, to Burlington, Vermont, and then to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where Max demonstrated how to safely cancel IFR and load a visual approach when haze and sun glare limited visibility. That night, while returning to Bedford, they learned the importance of aiming for runway aiming points—not the numbers—especially during night landings in jets. Day two brought a new challenge: deciding whether to fly west toward the Rockies or south toward better weather. A massive cold front made the decision easy, and the pair headed south instead. After a scenic leg along Long Island to Atlantic City, Ken received what Max called "the longest IFR clearance ever." Rather than manually entering the clearance into the G3000, Max showed how to import the flight plan directly from ForeFlight—a huge time-saver for managing long routes. That evening's destination was Greene County, Georgia (3J7), near Ken's in-laws' home at Lake Oconee. The stop held sentimental value: it was the same airport where Ken had first landed years earlier with his brand-new SR22. The next morning brought low fog and another teachable moment. When poor cell coverage prevented them from obtaining an IFR release, Max used the Vision Jet's SAT phone to call clearance delivery—a practical use for a feature many pilots overlook. Later that day, while practicing a VX climb—a maximum-performance takeoff used for steep departure gradients—Ken forgot to raise the landing gear, a common mistake during the high-workload maneuver. The oversight led to a discussion about better cues, timing, and division of tasks between pilots to avoid forgetting critical steps. They also discovered that one set of keys had been left in the cabin door—a harmless but memorable moment that required returning to the airport to retrieve them. From Georgia, they flew to Asheville, North Carolina, for real-world mountain experience, and then to John C. Tune Airport in Nashville. When ATC issued a last-minute vector, Max demonstrated how to safely "do nothing"—allowing the autopilot to intercept as planned instead of overcomplicating things. On day four, they returned to Boston. At night, controllers twice ignored their request for an ILS approach into Bedford, forcing a visual approach at higher altitude and steeper descent rates. Max explained why instrument approaches at night are always safer, and how overworked controllers sometimes inadvertently increase pilot workload. The final day offered a lighter tone: a short hop to Nantucket, one of Ken's favorite destinations. There, Max illustrated how adjusting throttle settings and altitude can drastically change fuel burn—saving nearly 18 gallons on a short leg by reducing power. Ken wrapped up by reflecting on what he gained from the experience: confidence, familiarity with the Vision Jet's systems, and a deeper appreciation for proactive learning. "I encourage other pilots to build their own syllabus," he said, "because flying with an instructor like Max before formal training was both incredibly valuable and a lot of fun." Whether you fly a Cirrus SR22 or aspire to own a Vision Jet, this episode is packed with insights about transition training, pre-type preparation, and real-world decision-making that can make any pilot safer and more capable.
