Newt talks with Bret Baier, Chief Political Anchor of Fox News Channel and the anchor and executive editor of Special Report with Bret Baier, about his new book, “The Case for America: An Argument on Behalf of Our Nation.” Baier makes the case that the United States remains resilient and exceptional despite its flaws. He draws heavily on six presidents, George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan, to describe American resilience, leadership, and optimism. He argues that the Declaration of Independence was a courageous, high-risk act that defined the nation’s core truths: choosing unity despite dissent, serving as a beacon of freedom, demonstrating a unique capacity for resilience, and remaining a land of opportunity. Their discussion extends to the founders’ disagreements, the risk they faced in signing the Declaration, and the evolution of American political rivalry and reconciliation, exemplified by the bitter split and later warm correspondence between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. Turning to contemporary politics, Baier contends that the upcoming America 250th celebration offers a chance to rebuild shared civic affection across ideological lines by acknowledging both the country’s problems and its strengths.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What begins as an uplifting animal rescue story quickly reveals larger issues involving migration, class, labor, and global responsibility. Hoang discusses balancing advocacy with storytelling, capturing high-stakes rescue missions on camera, and why the film resonates far beyond cat lovers. The conversation also highlights the film's screening at the Arab American Film Festival at Cinema Detroit, where audiences can catch the film and a post-screening discussion with Hoang and subject Katy McHugh. It'll be sure to be lively conversation about documentary filmmaking, compassion, and the surprising ways a film about 25 cats can say a lot about the world we live in.  Find out more at https://www.25catsfromqatar.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-projection-booth--5513239/support.Become a supporter of The Projection Booth at http://www.patreon.com/projectionbooth

Synopsis: Two decades after Hurricane Katrina ravaged Louisiana, the state is now facing a new kind of storm: the rapid expansion of liquified natural gas facilities that are displacing residents and polluting minority communities. This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donate Description: Hurricane Katrina was one of the deadliest hurricanes ever to strike the United States, killing 1,833 people, displacing hundreds of thousands more and causing more than $100 billion in damage. Louisianans wanted change and climate action, but 20 years on, a state ravaged by climate disasters is now ground zero for a whole new kind of storm: liquified natural gas facilities. The Trump administration okayed several new LNG plants on the Gulf this year, but residents are still picking up the pieces after the first LNG plants entered their neighborhood under Democratic administrations. In this episode, Laura speaks to Louisianans whose lives have been turned upside down by the expansion of LNG exports, and an expert who says minority communities benefit little from the jobs in the petrochemical facilities that surround them, yet suffer disproportionate pollution effects. Their message? Climate refugees exist in the U.S., and there will be more: “Wake up, open your eyes!” “[I'm a] climate refugee, more than once . . . I'm no scientist, but I'm more of an expert than the experts. Living it's a whole different ball game.” - Travis Dardar “[Companies] demand big tax incentives to come here . . . We are last in transportation, last in healthcare, last in education . . . We're almost last in every measurable area because we give tax breaks to the big oil companies and petrochemical companies.” - General Russel L.
