POPULARITY
Hi my name is Ryan and welcome to the show! This Amazing Life encourages and inspires YOU, the listener, to take action so that you can live your own AMAZING LIFE! Every week, I offer a new “Intention of the Week!” A tool, a mantra, or a guideline for you to use throughout your week on your own path to success. This week's Intention of the Week is: "The Difference Between 'Ordinary' and 'Extraordinary' Is A Little 'Extra'!" What does the word "extraordinary" mean to you? Can you think of a few examples of something you've experienced in your life that merits such a high amount of praise? Do you know or have you known anyone in your life that had such a positive impact on you that it's carried over into the future? Or have you ever been to a restaurant or event and noticed some attention to detail that took your experience from pleasant to truly memorable? To me, the word makes me think of a place with some kind of a "wow factor," or someone who goes just a little bit more out of their way to have a positive impact. Mostly, what I think about is how someone or something makes me feel. By elevating my life and my experience in some way, I would certainly consider identifying someone or something as "extraordinary." Another perspective to consider is what does "doing a little extra" mean to you? Is it finally holding yourself accountable to bring about some kind of goal or change you'd like to create? Or in some small way, does it mean working just a little harder or smarter to complete a big project or creative vision? Where do we draw the line between "doing enough," versus "going the extra mile"? (something that I'm sure a perfectionist would struggle with and could go as far back as school) Right now, as you're reading this email, you could be having a completely different reaction which I thoroughly understand. Maybe for you, you feel like you're already being pushed to your limits mentally, physically, and emotionally at home, at work, school, or wherever else you're trying to make progress and get ahead, and that the thought of "doing more" makes you feel physically unwell. Doing "more" isn't always the end all/be all answer that some people may claim it to be. If that really resonated with you, then maybe the little "extra" that could help you go from ordinary to extraordinary could be a little extra peace and quiet, time with nature, opening up more to a close friend or family member, or reallocating/reprioritizing your mental health. While Nina and I were away for a few days, I had an unbelievable realization that in fact what I had needed wasn't a "vacation" but rather a "retreat." By allowing ourselves the opportunity to truly unplug from most technology, social media, or even external and internal pressures we were experiencing, we we able to realize how much of a positive impact we could have on our lives just by reprioritizing (and in some cases eliminating) things that light us up versus things that cause us stress. Is there currently an opportunity or need in your life to find a better way to reduce stress and fatigue? How could that help you elevate your life? These are just some of the many different ideas and perspectives that we'll consider during our conversation. Thank you so much for choosing to listen to the show. “What have Mia and Gavin taught me?” asks Nina Quick, wife of Eric Quick, Bathtime 2 Boardroom co-host. “They have taught me to take a breath before I respond.” Mom to two kids, Nina is no stranger to the ups and downs of parenting. Nina has also had to navigate the added challenge of helping her son, Gavin, as he copes with both autism and ADHD. But with the support of her husband, her mom, and her network of mom friends, Nina has learned to tap out when she needs to take a deep breath and incorporate more self-care into her daily routine. While Nina admits to sometimes missing the years when her kids were babies and still yearned for hugs, kisses, and constant attention, she explains that watching them grow into autonomous human beings has been equally rewarding. On the boardroom side of things, Nina was particularly motivated to get politically involved after the 2016 election. For the past four years, Nina has been volunteering for Vote Save America's Adopt a State program. Nina adopted Florida and participated in extensive campaigning efforts for the Democratic Party in this crucial swing state. According to Nina, the most gratifying part of her work has been finding camaraderie amongst an extensive network of like-minded individuals, who share her passion for change and go about creating it in a positive and uplifting way. Learn more about Nina's bath time to boardroom journey on the kickoff episode of our fourth season of Bathtime 2 Boardroom! We're calling this season Moms Takeover, and we mean it….these episodes are all about moms, their personal struggles, and their incredible achievements, both at bathtime and in the boardroom. Tune in for an honest, engaging, and entertaining conversation with Nina, host Colleen Blake and special guest co host Monica Chandra (sorry Eric, it's moms only this week!). Learn about Nina's approach to parenthood, where she turns when she needs support, and why she never leaves the house without her camping toilet! You won't want to miss it. Quotes • “That kind of gave me a perspective moving forward...because I loved their ‘babyness,' and I loved them being little, and I wanted them to stay little forever, but that holds them back. And I had to recognize that it wasn't all about me, it was also about them. These were independent human beings, and I needed to really celebrate their victories and their milestones and their abilities that started to form as they got older.” (5:20-5:51) • “Part of this political division is this feeling of othering others and this feeling of, ‘I'm going to make you feel like you're alone in your thoughts and you're wrong.' And so to come into this arena was really uplifting for me, to realize that it was not just in my little group of people and my husband that we agreed on our politics. It's broader than that, and it's bigger than that.” (23:39-24:08) • “You need a village. You need to find people that can help support you….If things are getting hard here, I have an outlet to vent to.” (31:33-31:44) • “My pocket perspective is what's familiar is preferred and to keep that in mind when you're dealing with any situation with the kids or even yourself. If you recognize that what's familiar is preferred, you'll understand that change can be hard and sometimes you have to maybe work through the situation to make it become more familiar, so that you have less resistance to it.” (42:16-42:41) Links From Emotions to Advocacy by Pete Wright Parents Helping Parents https://www.autismspeaks.org/ Podcast production and show notes provided by FIRESIDE Marketing

Apparently, there’s a rat that has been sending Nina messages over social media while she’s on vacation in Europe. In the audio she sent Shoboy & Majestik, she called them ‘rude’ and said that while the boys are creating ‘drama’ about her, she’s enjoying life and eating figs from trees. The drama continues. While Nina is still on vacation this weekend, the boys have big plans of their own. Shoboy is going to one of the most epic house/bbq/pool parties of the year to watch the Mayweather-MacGregor fight. Majestik vows to stay sober because he’s taking it back to his hometown of Jersey City to focus on apartment hunting this weekend. Two listeners went on a blind radio speed-date in ‘Hookup Hotline’ and one of the weirdest questions we’ve ever heard was asked. Shawn from Hollis questioned Maria about how she handled passing gas in front of her exes! Listen to entire speed date and more here.
After their last terrifying encounter, the gang has decided to adopt the stray dog they found in the orange grove. While Nina takes it to get a check up and some food, the Ghostbusters receive a desperate call from an apartment building downtown. All of the tenants televisions turn on by themselves and then blast full volume until 11pm every night. Even when power is cut from the building, the power cords fuse themselves into the wall. Not only that, some of the children claim to have seen a ghost during that time. It’s become unbearable and has started to affect other nearby buildings; so the tenants have pooled all their money together and are begging the Ghostbusters to help. Can the gang put a stop to this phenomenon before it spreads across the whole city? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
