Today we will be  looking at regret no  3 that people expresson their death bed,  “I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings”.As children it was easy to express our feelings. We hated, we loved, we laughed, we cried, authentically andwith no need to analyse or suppress.So what happened since then?What made us change and suppress our feelings until webecame unaware of them?The seeds started in thinking that feelings were wrong, all ofwhich have been put in our heads at a young age. When you child says,  “I hate you”, try to be the adult in the room. The healthy way to be close to feelings is to have  permission to express them.Children who grow up  knowing they are loved, no matter what, find it easier to develop relationships with their feelings. When they become adults, they have skills to be in touch with their feelings; they find it naturally to love and be loved. This transfers to their relationship in adulthood. It helps them develop the language of the heart,  which is so important in a world that sent the heart- language to the underground.When we can acknowledge our feeling, we get many insights. Instead of blaming others for what we feel, we can be kind toourselves with what we feel. When people push our buttons, it could be an invitation togo deeper within ourselves. We can learn about ourselves from the way we feel towards other people.Please don't die before giving yourself permission toexpress your feelings. It's free, and it can be done in a respectful way. People around you  will be inspired to do the same. When the heart is light, there's more space to love and beloved. Sein Rettungsanker war die Kenianerin Jacky. Heute sind die beiden ein Paar und leben in der Stadt Kiserian südlich von Nairobi. Andreas Richter aus Feuerthalen (ZH) ist leidenschaftlicher Schlagzeuger und Musiker. Viele Jahre spielte der 48-Jährige in einer Band, gab Schlagzeugunterricht, war im Verkauf von Musikinstrumenten spezialisiert. Ein Burnout zog ihm den Boden unter den Füssen weg: «Ich war immer mit Herzblut dabei, dann hatte ich auf einmal keine Perspektive mehr.» In dieser schwierigen Zeit, hatte Andreas regelmässigen Kontakt mit seiner Musik Community auf Face Book. Vor allem mit Jacky aus Kenia. Jacky lud Andreas Richter nach Kenia ein, um wieder Kraft zu tanken: «Ich besuchte sie und war fasziniert von der kenianischen Kultur und die offenherzige Art der Menschen!» Aus Freundschaft wurde Liebe. Das Paar lebt heute in Kiserian südlich von Nairobi. Die Stadt liegt am Fusse der Ngong-Berge: «Auch wenn das Land politisch schwierig ist, hier in Kenia habe ich Dank Jacky zu mir selbst gefunden.» Ein kleines Haus und viel Besuch Das Familienleben hat in Kenia einen hohen Stellenwert, sagt Andreas Richter: «Die Familie meiner Frau hat mich sehr herzlich aufgenommen. Ich lerne viel von ihnen und ihrer Kultur.» Andreas Richter und seine Frau Jacky wohnen in einem kleinen schmucken Haus in Kiserian: «Wenn die Familie zu Besuch kommt, dann ist das immer ein einzig grosses Käferfest!» Auch, wenn das Haus nur drei Schlafzimmer bietet, Platz ist für alle da.

Loneliness has become a new pandemic. We live in an age of communication and we are lonely... Loneliness and aloneness are not the same thing. You can feel lonely among people, and not lonely when you are alone. Some people need more socialising,  others less. Some people like being alone, others resent it. The loneliness that comes from not being seen by others is the one I'm referring to here. When you are not seen by the  people around you, you try to behave like someone else, which enhances your pain. From time to time we need to be with other people, and we need to be seen. I'd like to tell you about my soul family. How we connect on a soul level and create a container that goes beyond countries and continents, and by doing so, we come home to ourselves. When we are seen we feel loved. Send us a textA Christian Country singer whose roots run deep with four generations of cowboys and singers. His inspiration came from his great grandmother and singing in the church along with cowboy church which he explains. His family are all rodeo athletes, and he competed in steer wrestling and still on occasion does a little team roping. When he is home, he shoes horses, builds fences and talks about being an accomplished farrier. He mainly writes on airplane rides, at home on the porch and of course in Nashville with great writers. His 2018 singles, “What Would Jesus Do”, “That Ain't My Church” & “Thank God” were all #1 on the Christian Country Charts. This podcast is produced by Calyn Whedbee and co-hosted together with Tricia Sikes. We dropped our first podcast in the summer of 2022. And, honestly, given the demographic we are working with, we had absolutely no idea whether any of it would fly. And, honestly, we still don't know.  To our amusement and surprise, however, our listening base is growing --“poco a poco.”    The primary focus of Turn Left is discovering what foreign nationals, living and working here--full or part time--find so attractive about the area; why they moved here; and what they think is deserving of more attention. However, we don't always stick to the script, so virtually anything is possible. We drop episodes as often as we can interview people and get them into postproduction.  Given that we are retired, and that this is -- to use the cliché: a labor of love.  AND, given that life in SF tends to pull all of us in lots of different directions, we have opted out trying to stick to a specific production schedule. Very often I feel that words cannot convey what I want to express. (Maybe that's why music plays such an important part in my life.) At the same times, I love words. I love flirting with them, trying, experimenting. I will frequently change them like loved clothes. Sometimes I'd make them up… Do you sometimes find yourself with this niggling feeling. Of the sort that you are  not sure how to describe it even to yourself. It's there, and its arrival seems to happen  without any particular reason. The feeling I'm referring to has a flavour of longing. Longing for something you might even not know what it is.  The reaction to this kind of feeling varies from one to the other. Some would choose an activity to get away from it. Some will eat, and then eat more... Or smoke…. drink…. It can be a very unpleasant feeling, something to run away from . If we could choose what feeling to invite , most likely this feeling would not appear in our guest list.  The word for it is: Sehnsucht. Life longing. Defined as intense desires for ideal states of life that are remote or unattainable. Longing that combines reflections and evaluations about the past, present, and future. A search for meaning.
