Join writer, content creator, and mental health advocate Caroline Swanson as she explores surviving mental illness, seeking joy, and being an adult millennial in the 21st century.
I recorded this little episode from beautiful Panama about accepting where you are right now. I've been struggling this week with wishing things were different, with wishing I was different. But life is giving me lots of message that I'm exactly where I need to be. The question is will I listen.
It's been 10 days since I uploaded a podcast, yikes. I had a rough couple of weeks, but I'm back, babes. This episode is about where I've been, why healing codependence is so frickin' hard, and why I really need to slow my life way down. Thanks for sticking with me & I'll have the next episode up in way less than 10 days. I promise.
Today, I talk a bit about my struggles with body image, my terrible relationship with food, and the problem with diet culture. Plus a practice to help you cultivate a better relationship with your body. This one gets a little personal.
This week we are talking about insecurities and battling or befriending our inner critics. Let's flip this bullshit narrative about needing to be anything other than who we are right now. You are good enough.
Caroline continues her conversation with Shelley Lloyd to talk about writing about mental illness and when to protect yourself vs when to share your experiences with the world. A huge thanks to Shelley for coming on the podcast. She'll be back soon.

In this episode, Caroline reflects on what she wants out of life and whether or not she's on the right path towards getting it. Deep down, no matter what we think, most of us just want love, acceptance, purpose, and creative autonomy.
In this episode Caroline talks about getting fired from therapy & letting go of things not meant for you.
In this episode, Caroline talks about friendship and community, her weekend trip to Colorado, and the joys of being alone. If you are in a period of your life that feels lonely or you are looking to build a new community of genuine, life-long friends, give this one a listen.
Buddhism says that desire is the root of all suffering. In this episode, Caroline talks about her struggles with knowing what she wants and wonders whether wanting anything at all is worthwhile.
In this episode, Caroline shares some thoughts about the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade in the US, and talks about how to stay productive and get stuff done when everything goes to shit.
In this episode, I get real about depression and what it feels like and talk about what Zoloft commercials get right about depression, and how I've learned to stop fighting my moods and move through them instead. If you have ever struggled to describe your own depression or understand the depression of a loved one, this is the episode for you.
When was the last time you did something just for fun? Just because it makes you happy. Just because it brings you joy. Something that wasn't productive, or working towards a goa,l or something that you are doing for someone else. When was the last time you did something truly for you? I am on a mission this year to try to have more fun. I mean, as dumb as that sounds, I think a lot of us just don't prioritize feeling joy and feeling good. And yet, it's the thing that we're all seeking. We are all just trying to feel happy and to feel better and to feel good. So many of us are depressed and anxious and burnt out. And yet, we don't prioritize things that will help us access those emotions that we're looking for. So, I am on a journey to reframe my life - to put work and energy into things that make me feel good, things that make me feel alive. I hope that you join me or at least listen in.
Welcome back to the Allied With Madness podcast! Its been a while, but I'm back to overshare more about my life and mental state. We now have video on YouTube so if you want to watch me talk instead of just listen head on over to YouTube.com/electricpineappleproductions
Social media platforms get a bad rep for causing depression and anxiety, but what if you could use this technology is a way that's good for you? In this episode I share 4 tips to use your social media accounts to improve your mental health. Like anything, it just takes a few boundaries and a lot of awareness.
This is a short episode about finding balance through acceptance. Balance doesn't mean feeling just the good stuff, it means understanding the importance of every moment of your life - the good and the bad.
In this episode, I talk about slowing down. I share how I first started meditating and what meditation looks like for me today because it's always changing. Meditation has allowed me to get back in touch with my body and stop dissociating, but it can also be really scary and triggering especially for those with trauma. Be gentle and listen to your body - That's the whole point!
If you've been asking yourself questions like: Why don't I feel happy? Why is meditation so hard? Or What's the big deal with self-awareness anyway? This is the episode for you. In this episode, I describe a super weird meditation/ panic attack I had this week. I also talk about why it's so easy to check out and why having awareness and being present really sucks, but is so worth it.
The first 5 minutes of this podcast was recorded on the go and sounds like shit (sensitive ears be warned.) When I get back to the land of technology, I talk about everyone's favorite topic and greatest weakness - boundaries. My take on boundaries is use them to make sure you leave enough space in your life for yourself. Listen in to learn how to set a boundary without causing more drama.
Welcome back to the podcast! I didn't plan very much for this episode, or not at all. I decided to just hit record a few times throughout the day & see what happened. I talk about the daily struggle I feel between honesty and shame and about the many things I'm doing and not doing to deal with the change and uncertainty showing up in my life right now.
Welcome to the first episode of Allied With Madness, my new podcast about mindset, mental health and whatever else I feel like talking about. I'm here to share with you everything I've learned from over a decade of depression treatment for free. (The treatment was very much NOT free) And also because I love to talk about myself! Stay Tuned Hearts! Caroline
