The sermon emphasizes the critical importance of upholding core Christian doctrines, particularly the virgin birth and deity of Jesus Christ, as the defining test of genuine faith and a safeguard against false teachings. Drawing heavily from 1 John 4 and Romans 8, the message asserts that those truly saved possess the Holy Spirit, enabling them to discern truth from error and distinguish between worldly and spiritual perspectives. It cautions listeners to examine the fruits of others' teachings, warning that those who deny essential doctrines or promote alternative paths to salvation are influenced by a spirit of Antichrist, urging believers to remain steadfast in their commitment to Jesus Christ as the sole way to eternal life.
The sermon emphasizes the critical need for discerning true spiritual guidance by rigorously testing the spirits of teachers and preachers against the foundational truth of Jesus Christ's deity and incarnation. Drawing from 1 John 4, it cautions listeners against seeking fault rather than receiving God's word and underscores the importance of personal Bible study and scriptural verification, urging believers to reject any doctrine that denies Jesus's perfect humanity and divinity. Ultimately, the message champions the priesthood of the believer, empowering individuals to evaluate teaching based on scripture, not personality, and to pursue righteousness even when faced with opposition.
The sermon emphasizes the critical need for discernment in a world saturated with deception, urging listeners to rigorously evaluate spiritual leaders and teachings by testing their alignment with core Christian doctrine, particularly the deity of Christ. It cautions against accepting appearances or popularity as indicators of truth, highlighting the prevalence of false prophets and the subtle influence of demonic forces within the church. Ultimately, the message encourages believers to actively safeguard their faith by discerning truth through careful examination of scripture and rejecting those who deviate from established biblical principles, emphasizing that genuine love manifests as a warning against error rather than superficial affection.
Today's episode is very special to me because I get to sit down and chat with my cousin Gina. I always joke with her that any of our phone conversations would make great podcast episodes, so I figured we might as well record one. In this episode, Gina and I discuss how to trust God when our feelings suggest otherwise, what to do when our thoughts don't align with scripture, how to make decisions when we feel like we aren't getting a clear answer from God, and the power of speaking the word.Suggested Resources:Gina's WebsiteCharles Stanley DevotionalSend me a text! This episode is proudly sponsored by: SizzlefishLet's talk about fueling your body with the best nature has to offer. Welcome to this new series, “Something Psalmic,” in which I invite my guests to share what's lifting their spirits and offering them healing and hope right now.In this moving episode of Psalms for the Spirit, I sit down with SueAnn Shiah ~ a Taiwanese American musician, filmmaker, ethnomusicologist, community organizer, and Queer Christian pastor. Through her creative and pastoral work, SueAnn weaves together questions of faith, identity, belonging, and justice, always grounded in her deep conviction that every vocation can be an act of ministry.Together, we talk about what is psalmic in her life these days: the courage to tell the truth even when it has consequences, the importance of naming despair as faithfully as we seek joy, and the hope that even the darkest Psalms ~ like Psalm 88 ~ can hold us when no easy answers exist. SueAnn's story reminds us that faith is not about pretending everything is fine but daring to bring our full selves, our doubts and griefs included, before God.“The hope is not that things will suddenly be fixed, but that even our darkest truths are not too much for God.”This episode is an invitation to honesty, courage, and the deep hope that healing begins where truth is spoken.Featured Song:Psalm 88: God of My SalvationSet to the Irish traditional tune Bean Dubh a Ghleanna, this psalm gives voice to deep lament and longing. It is a cry from the depths, expressing sorrow, isolation, and the search for God's presence in darkness—yet still holding fast to the prayer, “O God of my salvation.”Find out more about “Summer for the Spirit” at www.kiranyoungwimberly.com/summerDownload your free guide: “7 Spiritual Practices for Wellbeing in Uncertain Times”Become a Supporting/Paid SubscriberYou'll get:* Complimentary access to the Habits for the Spirit course* Videos of the conversations in Substack* The Psalms for the Spirit Journal ebook* Invitations to future offerings for supporting subscribers throughout the yearPsalms for the Spirit is a listener-supported publication. We hear it everywhere: “Be authentic.” But what does that actually mean? In this raw and heartfelt episode, AJ Vaden strips away the buzzwords and delivers a truth-bomb definition that will change how you see leadership, trust, and connection forever. Through a deeply personal story—including the lowest point of her life and how she chose her life coach—you'll learn why your most powerful asset isn't your highlight reel, but the valleys you've walked through. If you've ever wondered how to share your story without oversharing, or how to connect with people in a way that makes them lean in and trust you, this conversation will give you the courage—and the clarity—to do it.
In this powerful episode, I sit down with Dan Tocchini—executive coach, transformation catalyst, and founder of Take New Ground. Dan's work has had a profound impact on me personally and professionally, and I'm thrilled to bring this conversation to you.We talk about:Why transformation > change, and what most people get wrongWhat it means to “tell the truth”—and why that's where real growth beginsThe concept of identity patterning and how to break the invisible scripts that limit usWhy responsibility isn't blame—it's powerWhat it looks like to lead yourself and others with more courage, honesty, and agencyWhether you're navigating a season of change, leading a team, or doing deep personal work, this episode will challenge and equip you to take new ground in your own life.

Many people frequently exaggerate, brag, or slander. But God loves truth and hates every kind of lie. In this message, Pastor Lutzer establishes how we can break God's command, “You shall not bear false witness” by what we say. You can't truly love yourself if you're lying to yourself. And you certainly can't find peace in a version of you that's not real.Because when you try to love a version of yourself that isn't true, it feels empty. It's like people-pleasing: if you sacrifice authenticity for approval, then who are they really approving of? Not the real you. And the same goes for self-approval. If we dress up a lie and call it self-love, we're building a facade that will inevitably crumble. In this episode, you will learn…Why women, in particular, tend to lie to themselves (even more than they lie to others)What all major religions and spiritual teachings say about truth-telling3 simple but profound ways to use honesty as a daily practice of loving yourselfWe'll also explore ideas from authors like bell hooks, George Saunders, Don Miguel Ruiz, and Tara Brach, whose teachings remind us that honesty is the foundation of love.If you've ever felt like self-love doesn't “work” for you, or that you're doing everything but still feel disconnected, this episode might reveal why and inspire you to honestly love yourself.Remember: telling the truth isn't about sharing every secret, it's about staying rooted in what's real. And what's real—no matter how messy—is worthy of love.Deepen your self-love journey with Mary's books:The Gift of Self-Love, an interactive workbook that will help you build confidence, recognize your worth, and learn to finally love yourself.100 Days of Self-Love, a guided journal with 100 prompts to help you calm self-criticism and learn to love who you are.Follow Mary on IG: @maryscupofteaa and @maryspodcastIf you're enjoying this self-love podcast, share it with the women in your life. Send us a textThe American economy isn't just failing Black Americans—it's designed that way. In this eye-opening episode, we dive deep into the July 2025 unemployment statistics revealing a persistent, troubling pattern: while national unemployment sits at 4.2%, Black men face 7.5% unemployment, Black women 6.1%, and young Black Americans an alarming 17.9%. These aren't just numbers—they represent families living in economic uncertainty and a system that consistently produces racial disparities regardless of which political party holds power."Show me your policy and I'll show you your passion," becomes our rallying cry as we examine how the federal government—once a reliable employer offering decent wages and benefits to Black workers, especially women—has systematically dismantled DEI programs, leaving those workers to bear the consequences. The crisis demands targeted solutions: apprenticeships in underemployed zip codes, federal equity audits with actual enforcement power, and reinvestment in sectors that historically employed Black workers. The conversation broadens into a disturbing examination of how economic truth itself has become politicized, with the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics reportedly fired for publishing unflattering economic data. Meanwhile, new tariffs on Canadian goods, Swiss pharmaceuticals, and auto parts represent economic nationalism masquerading as patriotism—ultimately functioning as taxes on everyday Americans rather than foreign producers. We also explore how democracy erodes not through dramatic coups but through steady erosion: intimidation of public servants, revenge-driven politics, and media self-censorship on critical issues like Gaza. When journalists are silenced by their employers rather than government censors, and prosecutors face investigation for daring to hold the powerful accountable, we're witnessing the quiet dismantling of democratic norms. The South Park Republicans of yesterday have evolved into today's MAGA youth movement, but signs of disillusionment are emerging as podcasters who once supported Trump now criticize his policies. Join us for this unflinching analysis of how economic systems, political pressure, and media cowardice shape our collective reality—and what we must do to build a more just society. Support the show

It's tempting to tell a lie—especially when it makes life easier, avoids conflict, or earns approval. But what happens when we allow small lies to become habits in our families? In this episode of Family Vision, Rob and Amy Rienow continue their series on the Ten Commandments with a deeper look at the ninth commandment: “You shall not bear false witness.” They share personal stories of "white lies," explore how environments normalize deceit, and offer biblical encouragement for parenting kids who lie. From fake IDs to fudging a child's age for a discount, this conversation uncovers how truth-telling is foundational to trust and love in the home. What You'll Learn in This Episode: - Why lying is often motivated by fear, shame, or the desire for approval - How “small” lies can create lasting damage in relationships - Parenting strategies to lovingly confront dishonesty without shame - Why full confession—not partial—is the only way to rebuild trust - How to keep communication open and be a “safe place” for truth Featured Resources: Visionary Family Events — Learn more: https://visionaryfam.com/events Visionary Family Community — Connect with families around the world committed to passing faith to the next generation. December 5th marked the centennial birthday of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe of Azania [South Africa], the revolutionary Pan Africanist founder of the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania and one of the most impactful thinkers, organizers and voices of the 20th century. The day was marked by retrospectives in South Africa and in other places across the world, including at Sankofa Video and Books in Washington, DC. But Sobukwe has not been remembered as he should anywhere, including in his home country. There has been a long and dedicated attempt by South Africa to erase his memory and not fully integrate him at the deepest and most enduring levels of state memory. His crime? Unwavering, principled struggle for Africa and Africans, in service of greater humanity. Can this type of stance ever not be met with opposition within African governance formations? What lessons can we learn from the example of Sobukwe that can be applied to our contemporary struggles to build a better society? What happens when we choose to tell the truth, even as we play the game?JOIN KNARRATIVE: https://www.knarrative.com it's the only way to get into #Knubia, where these classes areheld live with a live chat.To shop Go to:TheGlobalMajorityMore from us:Knarrative Twitter: https://twitter.com/knarrative_Knarrative Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/knarrative/In Class with Carr Twitter: https://twitter.com/inclasswithcarrSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
