Healing Eczema isn't a goal or a destination. It’s a journey. It’s continuous. It’s the choices we make. What we eat, our gut health, our skincare regime, our morning routine, our mental wellbeing, being conscious, having compassion and most of all, trust

In this episode, I'll be talking about clothes! This is definitely a tip that I think all warriors should have under their sleeve! Sorry, had to slip in a little pun there! I remember a time, when I was really struggling with my skin, maybe a few years before I had discovered this diet, I had to throw a lot of my clothes away. It's actually very rare that I still own any work clothes between the years of 2015 - 2019 sadly. So I've created this episode to talk about tips on how you can avoid throwing away or reduce the speed of ruining your clothes during your recovery stages. Listed in six helpful tips including what colours, types of clothing and detergents to use that can aid your eczema recovery. Notes from episode: Tip 6 - ECO-VER fabric softener & SMOL washing tablet. Peace and speak soon!
In times of deep struggles, I feel your pain. The seeping of the wounds, the blood, the horrid itch. During my 12 week diet, I decided to get curious on what the trend was on via social media: ‘Cold Showers'. In social posts, I used to see people film their progress of showing in pure coldness! (Just thinking about it makes me shiver!) So the more research I did, the more I could see that people showering in cold water offered tremendous amounts of benefits. It re-activates your central nervous system. Helps maintain your weight. Speeds up metabolism. Improves alertness. Stronger immune system. ALL the vital requirements we need to fight this disease. Nobody really mentioned that it was directed at people struggling with eczema or skin conditions but I think they're missing a trick here… I know for a fact that cold water encourages our skin pores to close up after a shower, because the intensity of the coldness minimises skin irritation that's often caused by heat. If you shower with hot and leave the shower feeling hot/warm, your pores are still open to getting infected from bacteria or getting irritated. Although, I'd love to say that this was a cure for my eczema, sadly it is not BUT, it is definitely better and reduces the itch, the sores over your body when you do shower with cold water. Take a listen to episode 5 - Cold Showers and see how this method worked for me, at least an introduction into showing with cold water. I feel your pain if like me, you hate the cold and really would do anything to avoid showing in cold water. Trust me, I love my hot showers but I think I found a cheeky way round it where both parties win! So the verdict… although it's not a cure for eczema, by adopting this from time to time, won't cause harm, if anything, it will aid our healing process and help it along the way with the other things we're doing. Thank you for listening and please share this with other eczema warriors out there! The best way I like to describe this, is to use ‘Cars' as an analogy. What does a car need to run and operate smoothly? They require fuel as no.1 priority - but what about overtime, as the car gets older? We need to check for oil, brake pads replacement, tyre pressures, tyre replacements, interiors, general maintenance; new battery… the list goes on. And what about the quality of these replacements? Would you go really cheap if you had a Tesla or Jaguar? Or go for the best replacements? The same concept can be applied to our bodies. We put food in our bodies, which is essentially, the fuel for the car but what about the other things that will help our body run smoothly? Or to re-phrase – How is the quality of our affecting the way we operate? Like a car, our skin has one job. To protect us from outside bacteria. Unfortunately, with eczema, when something isn't working right, instead of breaking down like a car does, or show a warning light on the dashboard, it shows up on our skin. This is our warning light! We therefore, need to stop and look at what the issue is. In this episode, I share with you what supplements help complement our bodies for the healing process of eczema and what natural herbs can help reduce the itchiness, swelling and redness of your eczema mainly caused by high inflammation. If you wanted to find out more of the suggestions mentioned in this podcast, as promised, here are some links for you: Probiotics (look for strains that contain Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium): https://trustworthy-reviews.com/lps/UK/Top-5-Probiotic-Supplements/?wickedsource=google&wickedid=Cj0KCQjw0K-HBhDDARIsAFJ6UGgCYH3TyiSbTk35ucVt33bP-Jlpmt3iw57V08TdQ04wz3y1AJc2cy4aAlwOEALw_wcB&wickedid=469128280447&wv=3.1&&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0K-HBhDDARIsAFJ6UGgCYH3TyiSbTk35ucVt33bP-Jlpmt3iw57V08TdQ04wz3y1AJc2cy4aAlwOEALw_wcB Quercetin Complex with Ester C Plus - https://solgar.co.uk/products/solgar-quercetin-complex-with-ester-c-plus-vegetable-capsules Turmeric tablets - https://www.nutravita.co.uk/collections/100-vegan/products/organic-turmeric-curcumin-with-ginger-black-pepper-for-superior-absorption) Chrysanthemum Tea - https://www.elephantjournal.com/2020/07/why-chrysanthemum-tea-needs-to-be-our-new-summer-drink/
You've probably heard of the term ‘anti-inflammatory' but how much knowledge do you have on this and are you aware that by eating certain inflamed food groups - they could be causing damage to your skin or internal health? In this episode, find out what foods can help lower inflammation to aid better healing for our skin. Many professionals say that eczema is an autoimmune disease and that's based on our insides/gut being inflamed. So what does that even mean? How do we calm down the inflammation? Do we just take a couple of supplements like Turmeric and Quercetin Complex and that will work? Well, certainly for my experience, that's definitely not enough. Especially if we are putting in 90% inflammatory based foods, it's going to trigger our skin so much that we won't allow any time for the gut to heal. In this episode, I explore the trending term, ‘leaky gut' which, some say is a myth and some believe not. For me, after understanding the science behind the term, leaky gut, it definitely makes a lot of sense for me and how my body/skin works. Our skin is the biggest and largest organ of our body. So if we're breaking out in rashes, flare ups or hives, that's got to be a HUGE sign our body is telling us. Like a crying baby, we don't ignore the baby. We tend to it, care for it. LISTEN to it. The exact same attitude can be applied to our skin. I believe that by having better knowledge on our own nutrition and what we put into our bodies, it's definitely a step in the right direction of healing our skin. I hope you enjoy this episode, my eczema warriors! Until next time!
“Fail to prepare, Prepare to fail” – Benjamin Franklin. In the second part of the 12 week diet, I delve deeper into the other aspects of this diet including expectations, victory preparations and life after this diet. By all means, I am no way ‘cured' from eczema completely; however, I do believe that I am heading towards being fully free of eczema. Which is why I decided to start this podcast in the first place. I wanted to share what has worked for me and continually is working for me to ensure I live my life itch free and avoid going back to the dark times of when eczema led my life. This episode will share recipe tips, mental struggles and the little things you could do to help guide you and advice on how to live your life post diet. All aimed to help you mentally prepare ensuring you have the best tools, physically and emotionally to help you through the 12 weeks. And remember – “If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you.” All the best - Vanessa
In my first episode of Breaking Free from Eczema podcast, hear me explain my story of how I came across this diet in the first place. It all started with one man who saw my sore hands and instantly recommended this diet to me. Fast forward 18 months, that was when I was mentally ready. It got to the point when I couldn't take any more suffering on my skin. Enough was enough. I want normal healthy skin. We all deserve the right to have normal skin like other people. If people are interested in watching the same YouTube video the link is here. His name is Nicholas Lamborghini. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MejlvS3i5Y I hope you enjoy my first ever episode and please share this to anybody who is also an eczema warrior like me. We can get through this together and beat it! Much love, Vanessa Lee
Here's little mini background history about my eczema journey, and how it's lead me to launch this podcast to share my stories with you. Three main reasons why I've started this podcast: TO SHARE: To share my own personal struggles and to let other eczema warriors out there know that you are not alone. TO EDUCATE OTHERS:. I believe that we can educate ourselves about our bodies and our skin, what we put onto our skin, treat it and what we eat etc.. it all helps to lower the triggers. I refuse to believe that doctors and dermatologists say that there's no cure for eczema TO INSPIRE: By sharing my own healing journey I honestly hope it will inspire others to begin their own exploration to find what works for you too. I hope you enjoy my upcoming episodes where I'll delve deeper into how my diet worked for me, cleaning up my gut, skincare treatments on skin and natural holistic methods to help calm your skin.
