Nick Carr has toured all over Australia performing stand-up comedy. He’s been a regular guest on popular comedy podcasts, and has been a crowd favourite to audiences in his stomping ground of Brisbane, Queensland. In 2019, Nick lost his way, and has forgotten how to do comedy. He’s resorted to taking his clothes off on stage, sculling beers out of every type of footwear imaginable, and threatening to bash audience members. Now, comics around Australia are on a mission to get him back on track in time for the festival season of 2021. Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Carr Crash.
This week the boys are bringing you a special live episode, recorded in Melbourne at The European Bier Cafe. A big thanks to everyone who made it along, was brilliant to see our Melbourne fans in the flesh and unpack the insane weekend that had just happened. We had brilliant guest Dane Simpson riding shotgun on the riff, so we sucked back some pints and got stuck in. Please enjoy xCheck out what’s happening at Good Chat Comedy Club here: linktr.ee/goodchatcomedy See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

We’re in Melbourne! We’ve finally made it down to the birthplace of coffee, home of all that is cultural, and the next venue for the greatest comedy show ever written. Joining us this week, riding shotgun on a very riff heavy episode is Dan Rath. We discuss driving after bombing, our joint money situation, and how many instagram influencers potentially live in Toowoomba. The boys are back, and we’re charging through to bring this show to Melbourne. This week, we’ve enlisted the advice of Sydney-based comic and absolute legend, Bec Charlwood. We discuss body-shaming, tricking strangers into saying crook stuff, and set yet another cooked challenge for on stage. We’ve finished our run! The boys have sucked back tins like it’s the end of the world, and we’ve dragged in our mate Tor Snyder to give her opinions on how our first festival run has gone. We end up workshopping one of Tor’s jokes because Carr is allergic to punchlines apparently, we discuss bird lice and bird abortions, and reveal a few little fun things we’ve worked on during Fringe. We’re one week in to Adelaide Fringe, and the boys are over halfway their run of shows. We’ve had hecklers, we’ve had crushfests, and we’ve sunk a lot of piss. Today we’re joined by fellow Fringe artist, Thomas Green to shed a bit of light on his first impressions of Carr. We return to our original podcast format to get this show back on track. We unpack open mic scenes across the globe, discuss whether or not Carr is a clown or a stand-up, and try to workshop a new joke/app idea about rooting. We’ve done it. Well, we’ve done one night of it. The boys ripped off the bandaid in Adelaide last night for our debut show. Now, we recap the first night of a very expensive stand-up show that has been a year in the making, including a very interesting interaction with a top-tier Fringe level heckler. One show down, six more to go - if we don’t kill each other first. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We’re en route to Adelaide, and the boys have decided to record a quick update in the terminal of the Brisbane Airport. Carr has just received an excess baggage charge, and forgot to fuel up his hire car, so things are going perfectly. This is one of many quick updates we’ll be delivering as we prepare ourselves for Adelaide Fringe Festival 2021. One week away from our festival debut, and we are putting our foot to the floor. Both Jake and Carr are very short on time with very cooked schedules, so we managed to sneak in Brett Blake to do this recording at the end of a show. Problem is, we all smashed heaps of tins before it. Strap in for a boozy one, and some hard truths. Blakey lights Carr up like a Christmas Tree, Carr fires back to criticism, and Jake tries his best to just shut his drunk mouth.Get your tickets to Adelaide here: https://adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix/nick-carr-carr-crash-af2021Get your tickets to Melbourne here: https://www.trybooking.com/BOPSX See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We are now mere weeks away from our festival debut. This podcast has had its ups and downs, and whether or not Nick Carr has improved at all is still the question on everyone’s lips. Good mate of ours and golden boy of Cairns, Peter James, joins us as we talk Lion King Monopoly and our impending Melbourne run which has come out of fucking nowhere.Get your tickets to Adelaide here: https://adelaidefringe.com.au/fringetix/nick-carr-carr-crash-af2021Get your tickets to Melbourne here: https://www.trybooking.com/BOPSX See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We’re nearly there. Mere weeks away from debuting the world’s greatest stand-up show at a festival that is notoriously a shitfight money pit, albeit a very fun one at that. We have returning guest, Ben Knight, back on the podcast to offer some insight almost eight months after we first spoke to him. We workshop some ideas for the show, discuss the ups and downs of the trial show, and tiptoe around some pretty crook stuff. Business as usual here at Carr Crash xCheck out our upcoming shows here: https://linktr.ee/goodchatcomedy See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
That’s a wrap on the first trial show! We put our differences aside from the last episode and managed to pull together a sold out show at the club. Then, because we’re the smartest boys in the world, we locked the doors and kept everyone in for a live post-mortem podcast recording. Local legend and friend of ours, Chris Martin, joins us to ride shotgun - plus, we get a bunch of loyal listeners to give us their reviews in exchange for buying us beers. Not long to go now, bring on Adelaide. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Here we are, we’ve found ourselves on the home stretch. Five weeks to go, and the boys have returning guest Nick Capper back on to sort out this mess. We’re running behind, things are falling apart, and tensions are high. We discuss our way forward, and find out that while hindsight is 20-20, 2021 may not be just as forgiving. Brace yourselves x See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We’re back with the first Carr Crash episode of 2021! It’s a new year, and Nick Carr has turned a new leaf - it’s time to pull it together and get this show ready for Adelaide Fringe. This week we are joined by good mate of ours, and Brisbane ex-pat, Bronwyn Kuss. Carr digs himself a hole pretty early on in the piece, and since he’s not in control of the editing, there’s no way to claw his way out of it. Strap in, we go full Queensland in this one. Enjoy x See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Finally, we’re at the end of 2020, but we’ve still got a few weeks until Carr Crash debuts at Adelaide Fringe. In this episode, Carr and Jake recap the year that has been on a guestless Christmas special. Carr starts the episode by almost shitting his pants, and somehow it goes downhill from there. Another week, another episode of Australia’s favourite comedy intervention. Riding shotgun this week is a good mate of ours, the now Sydney-based Jacob Lingard. We are back for another episode! The boys are joined by local Brisbane legend, Matt Ford, for a few classic remember-whens from their time on the road together. We suck back a few tins and get a bit emotional as the stress of this show actually happening starts to set in. Turns out you can’t get a kebab late at night in Toowoomba, and apparently touring comics shit their pants more often than you’d think. Welcome back to another week in Australia’s favourite comedy intervention. This week, the boys are joined by Brisbane's prodigal daughter, Rhi Down, riding shotgun! They’re recording in Carr’s weird little dungeon of a room, and we are treated to triple the manic energy we would normally have on the podcast. We plug several different things, work on a brand new joke of Carr’s, and then set one a half new challenges. Big episode! We’re back for another episode in Australia’s favourite comedy intervention! This week we are joined all the way from the USA by Gareth Reynolds. The boys are back, and with a big name from the Americas riding shotgun. We were lucky to have Adam Ray join us for possibly our loosest episode yet. We’re back for a special chapter in the intervention of Nick Carr’s comedy career. The boys have gone to therapy, a step which arguably should have come much earlier in this podcast. Our guest this week is psychologist Dr Rachel Hannam, who is riding shotgun this week to provide a professional perspective to this trainwreck of a podcast. Bit of a different format this week, the boys get meta and discuss Carr’s personal progress, and whether this podcast is doing more harm than good? Another week, another chapter in Australia’s favourite comedy intervention. Riding shotgun this week, all the way from Melbourne, is comedian, and TV/radio presenter Tom Ballard. The boys are back for another episode in Australia’s favourite comedy intervention. Riding shotgun this week is Cameron James, joining us all the way from Sydney. Join us for another week in the impossible uphill battle that is getting Nick Carr’s career back on track. Riding shotgun this week is Tommy Dassalo, Melbourne-based comedian, and one half of The Little Dum Dum Club podcast. Twenty episodes! We did it, baby! Join the boys for another week of polishing the turd that is Nick Carr’s comedy career. Riding shotgun with us, is comedian, podcast hero, and all round top bloke Matt Stewart. We dive into first impressions of Carr (and Jake), a progress update around the festival show, and somehow meander into Carr getting bitten by a dog. This week the boys are back at it, dismantling the already shattered career of Nick Carr piece by piece. Assisting us, riding shotgun is our amazing guest Ben Russell, all the way from Melbourne. This week’s episode was recorded live at Good Chat Comedy Club, with the wonderful Damien Power brave enough to ride shotgun with us. In this week’s episode, the boys are joined by Melbourne-based writer/actor/comic, Stuart Daulman. Carr has come in to the recording hot and sweaty (and late) from a game of squash, which results in a wild on-stage challenge from Stu. We discuss our plans for Adelaide as we begin locking in a venue, and we work on how Carr is going to structure this inevitable festival show. In this chapter of Nick Carr’s comedy intervention, the boys are joined by Melbourne-based comedian and self improvement specialist Dilruk Jayasinha. The chats run long and deep about taking advice from others in comedy, and we workshop some new material where Carr yet again reveals something a bit crook in the process. We somehow manage to avoid talking about dolphins for one week, heaven forbid. Huge episode this week, get stuck in! The post 13 – Dilruk Jayasinha appeared first on Good Chat Comedy Club. This week the boys embrace the chaotic energy of Perth-based comic, Andrew Wolfe, who tries his hardest to derail the podcast and encourage Carr’s bad behaviour. We recap the sausage incident from last week, and workshop some new gear that Carr has been working on. The boys are back this week with Mike Goldstein riding shotgun, recapping the week that has been in the world of live comedy. Steph reveals her thoughts on the dolphin joke, we’re treated to some actual stand-up from Carr, and Jake finally learns that he’s not actually the boss of the operation. This week we are joined from Melbourne by comedian Ivan Aristeguieta, to break down Carr’s comedy and offer some serious comedic insight into how important authenticity is in the stand-up world. Carr somehow manages to bring up his physical advantages yet again, abuses Jake a handful of times, as we unpack why we have no choice but to destroy something good in order to get something even better. Here we are for another week of airing comedy grievances. This episode we are joined by Craig Quartermaine, who steers us back on track into a more positive direction. We’re back for another episode of hard truths and comedy advice. This week the boys are joined by veteran of Australian comedy, Kat Davidson, recording downstairs at Good Chat Comedy Club. Carr gets once again torn apart over his behaviour, as we start to delve into his joke writing and on-stage persona. This week we kick things up a notch, with guest Karl Chandler taking control at the scene of the accident. Carr first got his big break at the infamous Koh Samui International Podcast Festival, so it’s only fitting he hears some hard truths from one half of The Little Dum Dum Club. The gloves are well and truly off this week, and it’s clear that Carr is going to have to put in the hard yards leading up to Festival Season 2021. In this episode, the boys are joined by Ben Knight to help with some backseat driving. We hear the origins of the first shirtless moment, and Carr tries to woefully piece together that same joke about dolphins. Knighty and Jake hammer Carr about sleeping on couches, and we learn that not all heroes wear capes (or shirts). The post 4 – Ben Knight appeared first on Good Chat Comedy Club. In this episode, the boys have Mel Buttle in the passenger seat trying to steer Carr's comedy career back on track. Sparse on compliments, Mel gets straight to work telling Carr to pull his finger out and stop mucking around. Jake and Mel do some crowdwork sparring, and set Carr a dietary challenge. Mel also cooked us a pasta dinner, very yum. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In this episode, we have Brett Blake riding shotgun with us, firing off pot-shots at Carr left right and centre. After some feel good vibes and ‘remember whens’, Blakey drops a few sledgehammers into Carr as we encourage him to get his act together. Our favourite rural servo makes another appearance, and we set Carr a weekly health challenge to try to steer him out of an early grave. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In the first episode of Carr Crash, we are joined by Melbourne-based agricultural comedian, Nick Capper. We reminisce on good old times, when laughter was heard and shirts stayed on. In this first teaser episode, we sit down with Nick to break the news to him that his poor performance and bad behaviour has an expiry date.
