Something a bit special this week, as we've got a genuine world exclusive video game announcement and preview. We had to pull a lot of strings, but we've managed to land a no-holds-barred interview with video game designer Tommy Dassalo about his new game Super Dassalo Land for the Game Boy Colour. By the way, I'm writing this in sort of a silly way but this is 100% real. Tommy's been working on an honest to goodness video game and we talk to him all about it, its retro design inspirations, the process of creating it, and where does he get his ideas from. All of these hard-hitting questions and more on this week's episode of Filthy Casuals.
The song of the summer is Filthy Casuals Episode 451: Summer Game Fest, Xbox Showcase by Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox, so crank up the bluetooth speaker, dive into the pool and party as heartily as you can to the sound of a podcast playing for almost 2 hours. We're talking showcases this week, which means a ton of games like Doom: The Dark Ages, Lego Horizon Adventures, Star Wars: Outlaws, Perfect Dark, Fable, Gears of War: E-Day, and way too many more to mention. So please enjoy, until the radio overplays the episode and you never want to hear the song of the summer again.Patreon - weekly bonus episodes and secret Filthy discord and FB groupBandcamp Premium EpisodesYouTube - including live streams and Let's PlaysTwitch Hosted on Acast. Ok, you can unwrap ONE present early. It's an episode of the podcast Filthy Casuals with Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox! What do you mean a podcast isn't a present? It's the first part of their game of the year extravaganza, I can't imagine a better present than that! So what if it's free to download from any podcast app? I wrapped it up for you and everything, you could at least appreciate that. Well yes, I didn't literally, physically wrap it up, of course that's impossible to do for an intangible object like a podcast. But I put that empty box there in its place and I think you'll find that was adequately to unacceptably wrapped. Ok, well if getting you a podcast as a present makes me such a Grinch, how come YOU'RE the one who's frowning? Check. What is Hollywood Phonies? It's a podcast, and this little trailer will tell you everything you need to know about it. If I had to put it into words though I'd say something like "The podcast where the fake movies in real movies become real movies from fake moviemakers. Welcome to a brand-new podcast from comedians / screen legends Ben Vernel, Adam Knox and Tommy Dassalo, where the fake movies in real movies become real movies from fake moviemakers. For their debut episode, the boys are tackling perhaps most famous fake movie clip of all time: 'Angels with Filthy Souls' from the 1990 smash-hit film 'Home Alone'. The dramatic confrontation between Johnny and Snakes has terrified Kevin McCallister, a pizza boy, and the Wet Bandits, but when exactly in the film does this scebe take place? Who is AC and is he really taking a bath upstairs? And what is this 'business' transaction? Drugs? Organised crime? Air-conditioner repair? Or something far more idiotic? By the end of the episode, you'll have heard us figure out the entire plot and cut together a trailer for ANGELS WITH FILTHY SOULS. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @PhoniesPodcast and send us your hot tips for fake movies from real movies! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Episodes of the podcast Filthy Casuals with Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox are, in a way, a bit like Pokemon. Because, and get this, you've GOT TO CATCH THEM ALL! Haha, wow, if the description is this good, imagine the podcast, haha. Honestly, we'll look back on reading this description, and remember it as the good times. The golden years. The times when could relax and have a laugh about how the Pokemon catch phrase and the amount of episodes of Filthy Casuals you should listen to. How we'd compare the two on a warm summer's evening and think to ourselves "wow, it really doesn't get any better than this." We took those descriptions for granted. We really didn't know how good we had it. But we can never go back. Got to catch them all? Hell, these days we barely even think about them. But every now and again, when a breeze carries an old tune to our ear, we remember them. Each time a little fainter, and each time a little shorter. But we remember them. Plus we talk about Sony buying Bungie, and Gran Turismo 7!Thanks to our sponsors NordVPN for sponsoring this episode! Puzzling, horrific, and a guarantee that you'll get some action. That's right, it's a description of Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox respectively. This week they have a big old Resident Evil 8 chat, including a spoiler-free review followed by a spoiler-filled optional Sealed Section at the end. Whether you're in the UK where R.E. means Religious Education and Resi means Resident Evil, or in the USA where R.E. means Resident Evil and Resi means nothing, or somewhere else in the world where maybe neither mean anything or maybe both mean something, I don't know I'm not particularly well travelled, I truly hope that you enjoy this episode. A seemingly small model which reveals itself to have a surprising depth and enormity after you have come to terms with the fact that you have ended up inside it. That's right, it's Ben Vernel, and he's here with Tommy Dassalo and Adam Knox to review Maquette and Blind Drive, as well as discuss the news of the week such as even more Switch Pro rumours and burned down Rust servers. I just did a ouija board and the ghost told me that you'd better listen to Filthy Casuals with Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox this week. I know, it's so spooky! The ghost said that, um, they talk about The Medium and Destruction All-Stars, and um, that they also talk about, um, whatever game you would like to hear and that it's the best podcast for that particular topic. No, the ghost said it, not me. Also they talk about the GameStop news because that's sort of like video game news and some other news and um they tell you um yeah like how to deal with that problem you've been having lately. No it's true, again, the ghost told me this. Why are you calling me a con-artist? I talk to ghosts. Originally released in 1997, Episode 254 of Filthy Casuals with Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox was exclusively available in Japanese. Several fan translation projects were started, but none made it past a few minutes of work, as the translators began to realise that the episode was no in fact in Japanese, but rather a broken form of mock Japanese that was considered edgy, but still generally okay when the episode released in 1997. Since then, fans have been calling for an English translation of the episode, citing that "they should never have been doing the Japanese voices in the first place, this is so wrong." and "what the actual fuck is this?" Now, more that 20 years later, we are proud to announce the release of Filthy Casuals Episode 254 in English. Please enjoy! Completely two-dimensional, horrific and disgusting, and underwhelming in spite of a lot of promise. Am I describing the three things mentioned in the title of the episode there, or is it a funny description of the personalities of Tommy Dassalo, Ben Vernel and Adam Knox? That's right, it's both! I've managed to perform a little bit of wordplay here in this episode description, and the world is all the richer for it. It's truly this sort of fun which can be had with the English language that makes the world's most popular dialect! I've not really looked into the reasons why so many people speak English, but I'm assuming that's the reason, anyway. Surely it's not a darker reason than that, right? Also some Nintendo leaks.
