Featuring Chris Martin, Director of Content, Moody Global MediaRecorded live at the Digital Ministry Conference 2025.In this compelling session from the 2025 Digital Ministry Conference, Chris Martin—veteran digital strategist and content leader at Moody Global Media—pulls back the curtain on how ministry teams can use data not just to drive vanity metrics, but to deepen real connections with their audiences. With transparency and humor, Chris recounts lessons from the infamous "pivot to video" era and how platforms like Facebook once inflated metrics by up to 900%. He uses this cautionary tale to highlight a central truth: not all data tells the truth, and not all metrics matter. Instead, ministries must learn to focus on engagement and meaningful interactions—then use that insight to draw people into deeper channels of connection, like email and direct relationships. For digital marketers and communications teams in ministry, this session is a goldmine of takeaways:Why your email open rate may matter more than your follower countHow to interpret social metrics as communication—not just performancePractical steps to shepherd your audience away from algorithmic platformsHow to avoid the trap of pleasing stakeholders instead of serving your audienceTune in to this podcast to rethink your strategy and walk away with a clearer roadmap for using data to inform content—and ultimately lead your audience into deeper ministry engagement.Resources Mentioned in the EpisodeChris Martin on LinkedInTerms of Service newsletter by Chris MartinMoody Bible InstituteChris's Book: "Terms of Service: The Real Cost of Social Media"
In this episode of the Building PA Podcast, co-hosts Chris Martin and Jon O'Brien delve into a significant topic affecting the construction industry in Pennsylvania: the Separations Act. With a history spanning over a century, the Separations Act mandates that public construction projects at the state and local levels must hire at least four separate prime contractors—specifically for general trades, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.Jon, who has extensive knowledge of the Act, explains its origins, enacted on May 1, 1913, in response to rampant corruption in public contracting, particularly highlighted by the over-budget Pennsylvania State Capitol project. The discussion touches on the historical context of the Act, including early efforts to repeal it and the political dynamics surrounding it, with both major political parties having attempted to modernize or repeal the law over the years. The hosts explore the implications of the Separations Act on modern construction practices, noting that while it was perhaps necessary in its time, the construction landscape has evolved significantly. They discuss how the requirement for multiple prime contractors can hinder collaboration and efficiency in project delivery, contrasting it with more modern methods like design-build and construction management at risk.Throughout the episode, Chris and Jon emphasize that they are not taking a political stance on the issue but rather aim to educate listeners about the Act's history and its current relevance. They highlight the need for increased awareness and education among legislators and industry professionals, particularly younger project managers who may not be familiar with the Act.
Bob Malone has quite literally helped shape the sound of modern trumpet playing around the world. He's been designing trumpets for nearly 40 years and is widely recognized as one of the premier trumpet designers in the world. His instruments are played in major orchestras across the globe, and his influence can be heard through the artistry of many of the finest trumpet players of our time.I've had the privilege of knowing Bob for almost 50 years, and watching his evolution—from passionate trumpet player to visionary instrument designer—has been nothing short of inspiring. So it was a real pleasure to sit down with him and explore the journey that has defined his life's work.In Part 1, we kick off our conversation by diving into how Bob has applied the Japanese concept of Kaizen—the philosophy of continuous improvement—to his work over the years. From there, we go back to his early days as a trumpet player and explore how his passion for the instrument led him to the world of design and craftsmanship. He shares how key figures like Larry Minick and Tom Stevens mentored him and helped shape his path, leading to the founding of Bob Malone's Brass Technology, and eventually, his pivotal role at Yamaha Corporation.Bob also recounts his first major design collaboration with trumpeter Bobby Shew—a project made possible through the support of his close friend, Kenzo Kawasaki. In Part 2 [Subscriber Content], we get into some of Bob's experiences working with a remarkable roster of trumpet luminaries, including Håkan Hardenberger, John Hagstrom, Allen Vizzutti, David Bilger, Chris Martin, Tom Rolfs, Wayne Bergeron, Bo Nilsson, and conductor Andris Nelsons. His stories are a fascinating glimpse into the minds of these incredible musicians and the collaborative process behind great instrument design. And since Bob has spent so much of his career on the road, we also talk about his favorite travel destinations, memorable meals, and how he manages the inevitable jet lag that comes with a global career.Would you like more inspirational stories, suggestions, insights, and a place to continue the conversations with other listeners? Season 5 of ATHF is a contentious one. Either you love it or you hate it. Or maybe you think it's okay. Or you just, like, sorta like it. Look, I don't know your life story -- but what I DO know is Season 5 is a hell of a lot better than I was expecting it to be. While the season got my panties in a bunch back in 2008, it put a big ol' smile on my face while covering it for the podcast. And also I don't wear panties anymore. Commando, baby! Today we're talking about the season as a whole & spending some time dwelling on what it brought to the world of Aqua Teen. I'll also tell you my favorite episodes & villains from the season, because that's certainly something that you ever wanted to know and will help your life even one bit. We're also looking at the year the season was birthed out during - 2008 - figuring out what the heck happened back then. Believe it or not, nobody actually knows except for me, because I was there, man. From my hot movie takes that will most definitely get me at least one hate mail (I'm sort of like a modern day Joker, maybe. Probably not. I'm more of an Alfred type.), to the tunes of the time (and how Chris Martin ruled the world), to the video games (you ever heard of a Wii?)-- this podcast episode has it all! When it comes to electrification, Honda has been focused on long-term strategy, emphasizing that the transition to EVs is a marathon, not a sprint. Recently, however, the company has been bullish on solid-state battery technology. By using a solid electrolyte instead of a liquid one, solid-state batteries offer advantages like higher energy density, reduced weight, and improved safety compared to liquid lithium-ion batteries. After perfecting the production of solid-state batteries in a lab environment, Honda is now focused on mass production. The company recently opened a test factory to produce battery packs for future EVs and to refine the production process. To learn more, Roberto Baldwin, Sustainability Editor, SAE Sustainable Mobility Solutions, sat down with Chris Martin, Technological Director of Communications, to discuss Honda's advancements in solid-state battery technology and the company's future plans for electrification. For more information on the evolution of sustainability, head on over to sustainablecareers.sae.org. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin made conscious uncoupling famous in 2014. But where does it stand a decade later? When couples decide to part ways, the process can feel overwhelming and painful. But conscious uncoupling offers an alternative: a mindful way to separate that prioritizes respect, communication, and the well-being of everyone involved, including kids if you have them. Conscious uncoupling encourages a shift in focus, away from blame and resentment, toward healing, growth, and a peaceful, ongoing relationship as co-parents or an ability to move on in a healthy way if you don't have kids. If you're contemplating or already facing separation and wondering how to navigate it with kindness and respect, today is for you. We'll dive into what conscious uncoupling is, what you have to do on your own, strategies for effective co-parenting, and my eight steps for separating peacefully. ____________________________Full blog and show notes: https://abbymedcalf.com/conscious-uncoupling-eight-steps-to-separate-peacefully Grab my Co-Parenting Meeting Checklist: https://abbymedcalf.com/coparenting-checklist Learn how to create and hold healthy, loving boundaries. Fantasy Baseball Live – February 9, 2025 @ 3 PM ETSegment 1 – News and Notes1.The Mets re-upped with Pete Alonso on a two-year deal. The league has learned its lesson from hulking First Base sluggers like Alonso, and consequently, it's become more challenging for them to land the big contract.a.Your thoughts on the deal. Are there any changes at all in where you draft him2.Phew. Jack Flaherty managers give a sigh of relief when he re-upped with the Tigers for a two-year deal that is front-loaded with an opt-out. So, assuming he doesn't get hurt, he'll likely opt out. a.Will he be more of the 2024 version on the 2022-23 pitcher? 3.The Angels were at it again, signing Yoan Moncada to a one-year, $5 million contract. a.This is why I'm so critical of the Angels. This is a dumb deal to me. He hasn't been able to stay healthy, and if it weren't for a .406-fueled 2019 season, where he hit 25 home runs and batted.315, I'm not sure anybody would be thinking about him. Not to lead the witness, but what do you think? Am I all wet?4.Well the Tirso Ornelas came crashing down when the Padres signed the power-couple duo of Jason Heyward and Connor Joe. Oh well. Thoughts.Segment 2 – AL West1.Houston Astrosa.Isaac Paredes 2025 stat line: HR, RBI, and BAi.Will he be a downgrade from Alex Bregman, upgrade, or about the same?b.Chas McCormack (608.80 ADP), Jake Meyers (611.36), and Taylor Trammell (750.51) are the projected starting outfield. We've discussed previously about how weak it is. Do you have any interest?i.Over/Under Pedro Leon of 200 ABsc.Luis Garcia had TJS in 2023 and should be a full go this spring. In his last full season in 2022, he was pretty good. His ADP is 365. Is he a sneaky add in a draft?d.Spencer Arrighetti pitched to a 5.63 ERA in the first half and a 3.18 in the second. His batting average against went from .268 to .226. Any interest. His ADP is 216.9e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)2.Los Angeles Angelsa.True or False. Mike Trout will win a World Series with the Angels before his career ends.i.Stat line for Trout: AB, HR, SB, BAb.Jo Adell's ADP is 290.89 and he's going as the 71st outfielder off the board. He hits the ball extremely hard and sprint speed in the 86th percentile. There is going to be pressure on his batting average as he doesn't make great contact. However, if he gets playing time, isn't there 20-20 potential here?i.Will he get the playing time?c.Yoan Moncada stat line for 2025: AB, HR, and BAd.Nolan Schanuel – Over/Under 15 home runse. Is Kikuchi more like the Astros version in 2025 or more like the “every other” season for the Angels in 2025?i.We will look at where he's going in drafts.f.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)3.Athleticsa.Tyler Soderstrom was a top prospect for several years, but has yet to establish himself in the Majors. Will he this year or will Kurtz beat him to the punch?i.Nick Kurtz 2025 stat line: AB, HR, BAb.Lawrence Butler went 22 and 18 in 451 PAs last year. Over/Under 50 combined SB and HR for 2025?c.Who would you rather roster: Luis Severino (290.0) or Jeffrey Springs (239.3)?d.Will Mason Miller be on the Athletics on August 1?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)4.Seattle Marinersa. In one of our Dynasty League startups, I considered drafting Victor Robles but couldn't pull the trigger. I studied the data, and while he stole 34 bases last season, he's not a burner with sprint speeds in the 63rd percentile. A .370 BABIP drove his .307 batting average, and given his poor exit velocity, I don't see that sticking or much power. Am I too low on Robles? I don't get the hype, as he's going as the 49th OF off the board. b.One of our Patreon members reminded me that we don't talk enough about Seattle's poor hit park factors (T-Mobile). It's last in the league. Should this give you pause at the draft table for guys like J-Rod, Raleigh, and Arozarena?c.Will Julio Rodriguez be drafted in the first round in 2026?d.Do you think the Mariners should trade one of their big starters for some offense? If so, who would you suggest?i.An ideal trading partner would be the Orioles.e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)5.Texas Rangersa.Evan Carter state line for 2025: AB, HR, SB, and BAi. Will he be a full-time or platoon player by mid-season?b.Adolis Garcia had a down season in 2025. Although his speed has decreased, he still hits the ball extremely hard. Do you think he's more of a 30 to 35-home-run guy or a 25-home-run guy with pressure on his batting average?i.We will look at where he is being drafted and look at other players around himc.Do we see the break out of Wyatt Langford in 2025?i.He will be _______________ round pick in 2026.d.RosterResource lists Chris Martin as the closer in Texas. Are you buying that?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)
