Dr. Albert Viljoen is a qualified medical Doctor who has transitioned into a Life Coach. He's worked in this space for the last decade. We discuss what a "normal" response to a global crisis is and this dialogue will give you some relief and peace of mind that you're reaction is not abnormal. I zoom out and zoom in with Mark on the things that got him to where he is today as a published author, beer expert and recreational ultra runner. Mark Dredge is a Beer Enthusiast living in East London. He’s the author of 6 books with a 7th on the way, all of which revolve around beer. Mark’s most recent project being, A Brief History of Lager is his first non-fiction narrative which explores the last 500 Years of the World's Favourite Beer. We touch on beer judging, creative process, drinking responsibly, and running. This dialogue really inspired me and taught me that doing what you love doesn’t require an immense amount of risk, but we can simply, “go for it” and see what unfolds.Table of ContentIntro - (00:00:00)Beginning of Conversation - (00:06:29)What Mark does for a Living - (00:22:43)Beer Judging - (00:27:36)Is Mark Living his Best Life? - (00:42:26)Mark’s Key Ingredient - (00:55:41)Responsible Job or Beer Author? - (01:00:52)Creative Process - (01:03:37)Drinking Responsibly - (01:17:23)Alcohol Free Beer - (01:25:52)RUNNING! - (01:29:10)CTB HELLS Lager Tasting - (01:55:22)Mark’s Linkshttps://twitter.com/markdredgehttps://www.instagram.com/markdredge/https://www.beerdredge.comFlavor Wheel Andrew’s Linkshttps://twitter.com/andrewfulfordhttps://www.instagram.com/andrewfulford/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrewfulf/

The Sustainable Athlete: Injury Prevention | Shaun Brooking

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 16, 2020 123:31

The Sustainable Athlete is a new series on Enthuse Life, where my Movement & Performance Coach, Shaun Brooking and I, discuss what it means to be a Sustainable Athlete. In this episode, we open up with an introduction to Shaun's background in sports and how he got into this sustainable movement space. One thing that I really love about Shaun is he takes a holistic approach with his Athlete. He's not just interested in the training regime or the workouts - he wants to check in with your mindset, with your sleep, what you're eating, how you're doing emotionally - the whole picture. Shaun believes we are ALL athletes, because LIFE is an athletic event. Even if you're a passionate CEO of a business or a stay at home dad who doesn't do sports, these activities require performance. For the CEO it's being in an office environment for 8-12 hours a day, making a multitude of big decisions in a day. For the stay at home dad, it looks like chasing toddlers around all day, keeping the house in top shape, etc. We are all athletes. The first topic we tackle is Injury Prevention. We chat for two whole hours on the topic. It's deep, it's not what you're going to expect, it's hilarious and ultimately, it's a massage that will liberate you to put your health first. This is NOT The Performance Athlete Series, this is The Sustainable Athlete. Let's all do what we love for as long as we can and in the most sustainable way to get the best performance in all of life, not just our next event.Shaun has worked in the movement space for 12 years, with an honours degree in Sport and Exercise Science and a post graduate degree in Human Performance. His work ranges from performance enhancement to injury rehabilitation and managing chronic conditions. Instead of the common approach in the fitness world, with high-intensity work and short-term gains, Shaun focuses on sustainable, lifetime transformation.Shaun has just introduced a new workshop for businesses called: Office Athlete. These classes are designed to restore, energise and revive the work force, combating sick days and boosting performance with mental focus and clarity. 12 Marathons in 12 Months | Danny Wells

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 9, 2020 63:30

Danny Wells is a passionate marathoner who just completed a 12 in 12 Project, where he ran an official 26.2 mile race, every month, for 12 consecutive months. For Danny, this challenge wasn't about speed but about seeing what was possible with his feet and mind. Like myself, Danny isn't a natural born runner. He's a normal guy who got a London Marathon entry on his first ballot attempt in 2016. Since then he has completed 17 marathons with most of them being grassroots, creative or abnormal courses. I believe this conversation will inspire anyone, runner or non-runner, as Danny's 12 in 12 teaches us to think outside the box - to sign up for things in life that tell a story and inspire others.

Today's recorded conversation is with my good friend Dustin Carpenter who just wrapped up 2 years of travel with his girlfriend Juli and later their adopted dog, Fern. We talk about how he met Juli only 4 months before this trip - some highs and lows - and the take-away from the whole shebang, which really blew me away. You’ll have to forgive me in advance as the remote recording aspect of this podcast does not have the best quality audio. There’s a few seconds where Dustin drops out for a bit and crackling -  however in my bias opinion the dialogue is jammed back full of high quality inspiration, which will keep you engaged. One thing that will certainly make you appreciate this conversation more is looking up Dustin’s Instagram - He has phenomenal photos - Him and Juli are both great with the camera and these images will tell a story in themselves.
