Rolling through December and For The City Podcast comes back with a new episode for your Christmas time enjoyment. We are all really PRO Christmas celebrations, Advent and observation. Pastoral Resident Julian jumps on with us this week as the guys share why we love Christmas and you should too!

The purpose of the church has been and will always be, very simply, to make disciples. How churches go about making disciples will vary. In this episode Will, Trevor, and Orion talk about church planting as a New Testament strategy to make disciples and it as the normal outcome of making disciples. It is our belief that the call to make disciples will always lead us to planting churches, but it is also how disciples were made in the early church. Pastor Orion, Will and DJ (Rev) Trevor are hanging in Will's basement late one night, and after a long day they lay down this helpful podcast about How to Find a Church. After a few weeks off for vacations and travels it was good to hear from the guys about some really important stuff. So how do you pick a church? Church shopping isn't fun but the guys have some really helpful things for you to think about in regards to finding a good church home.

Matt Chandler, Lead Pastor of The Village Church and President of the Acts 29 Church Planting Network, comes on the podcast to talk about the need for brotherhood/sisterhood. In this episode the guys begin the podcast listening to Orion's new record player (a Father's Day gift) before Matt Chandler calls in to lay down some wisdom on brotherhood. After talking about why we have the desire for deep friendships, what seems to always go wrong in friendships, and how can we peruse these types of relationships, Orion and Will give us some takeaways to think about. This episode is a clear presentation of Matt's passion for brotherhood as well as ours!

There are lots of reasons why you can lose hope and faith in the church. The guys give some reasons to hang on and fight for health. They also share why they still love the church.

The guys visit Trevor's house and setup on the porch for some recording. A light discussion involving Ninja Turtles and contemporary artists gives way to some serious talk about how Christians can view and enjoy good art.

Visiting DJ Trevor's trendy base, Will and Orion setup on the porch to discuss why the world is so quick to be offended about everything. The guys throw out some observations as to why this is the case. Then they give us some things in the Bible to think about. What does God say about being offended every two seconds and raging on social media? What is the difference between holy anger and sinful anger? This is the topic and these are thoughts on this episode of For the City.

In this episode, the guys talk about the importance of hobbies, (disc golf, kayak fishing) how to find a hobby, and how as parents we must think and pray about how we engage with our children's extracurricular activities. 

The guys welcome DJ Trevor to their "base" and talk about the musical and liturgical elements of Corporate Worship. They share some funny stories about past worship experiences and demonstrate how people from diverse backgrounds can unite in worship because of the gospel.

Orion and Will settle in for their very first episode in Orion's garage. The guys talk about why they decided to do the podcast and what makes it unique. They chat a little long before getting into it (a mistake they promise not to continue). But hey, it's their first run at it. They have some pretty amazing things to say about why Christians should seek the good fo the city and their hopes for upcoming podcasts. Enjoy!
