It's eggnog season—and not just any nog. We're talking Golden Egg Nog from the old Hood milk mafia, the stuff thick enough to count as a sin. Am I the Jerk? is the show where you can confess your deepest darkest secrets and be part of the conversation.
In honor of 420, its time to look at some of the weirdest, and wackiest toys ever designed. You really have to wonder, what were they on when coming up with some of this stuff. From poorly thought out labels to accidental nightmare fuel, child endangerment and even a pre-cursor to Siri - combined with, water? Then it's another edition of The Team from the wonderful world of TMNT - but ONLY the Turtle variants. And the choices are not as simple as you might think! This week on Another Pass, Sam and Case are joined by Erin Callahan to dig into Paul Thomas Anderson's sprawling emotional epic, Magnolia. We talk about intersecting lives, the weight of coincidence, and whether a few small edits could make this frog-filled fever dream even more powerful. #AnotherPass #Magnolia #PTAnderson #MoviePodcast #FilmDiscussion Another Pass Full Episode Originally aired: November 14, 2025 Music by Vin Macri and Matt Brogan Podcast Edited by Sophia Ricciardi Certain Point Of View is a podcast network brining you all sorts of nerdy goodness! Overview of the podcast's goal of analyzing fascinating but flawed movies and discussing 'Magnolia' by Paul Thomas Anderson. Film Reception and Initial Impressions (02:47 - 06:41) Discussion on the film's commercial performance (barely recouped budget). Observations on how the interconnected plotlines initially seem scattered but progressively reveal ties. Personal Reactions and Character Complexity (06:41 - 09:43) Sam expresses strong dislike for the film, citing an emotional aversion to nearly all characters except the frogs. Recognition of standout performances by William H. Macy and Philip Seymour Hoffman despite overall dislike. Overview of Film Narrative and Themes (09:43 - 19:46) Aaron explains the ensemble format, interconnected stories set in San Fernando Valley culminating in a biblical-style frog plague. Major theme identified: dysfunctional relationships between parents and children. Cops and Authority Portrayal (19:46 - 29:25) John C. Reilly's character depicted as a well-meaning but incompetent cop, demonstrating systemic failures in law enforcement. The film's critical stance towards police, contrasting with mainstream media depictions at the time. Character Analysis: Donnie and Stanley (29:25 - 39:23) William H. Macy's character as a former quiz boy who symbolizes a lost potential and relatability to gifted child experience. Debate on whether his storyline is essential or expendable in a trimmed-down version of the film. Entertainment Moguls and Their Families (39:23 - 49:49) Comparison of Earl Partridge and Jimmy Gator as similar figures of industry power who have harmed their children and spouses. Tom Cruise's Frank T.J. Mackey characterized as a 'manosphere' guru shaped by family trauma. Claudia and Themes of Control and Addiction (49:49 - 59:40) Claudia viewed as a victim of parental control, drug addiction, and neglect juxtaposed with her father's manipulative behavior. Biblical allusion of plague of frogs as symbolic of parental failure to 'let their children go.' Frank T.J. Mackey and Masculine Performance (59:41 - 01:09:41) Spotlight on Tom Cruise's versatile and immersive performance as Frank T.J. Mackey, exploring the emotional façade and trauma underlying his character. Mention of Cruise's Oscar nomination for the role and the improvisation he brought to the emotional father-son scenes. Julianne Moore's Character and Themes of Caregiving and Betrayal (01:09:41 - 01:20:56) Detailed discussion of Linda Partridge showing vulnerability, guilt, and emotional complexity amid caregiving for a dying Earl Partridge. Exploration of betrayal themes and intimate family dynamics. Film Length and Narrative Structure Discussion (01:20:56 - 01:32:27) Consensus on the film's excessive length complicating viewer engagement. Suggestions to streamline or reimagine — either cut characters and subplots or expand into a miniseries format. Potential Edits and Streamlining Approaches (01:32:27 - 01:43:10) Aaron recommends removing William H. Macy's character to focus tightly on key children and their relationships with their parents. Both emphasize retaining vital scenes such as the frog plague, quiz show elements, and key emotional arcs. Lighthearted Closing and Future Topics (01:43:10 - 01:53:43) Humorous tangent on frogs and Ninja Turtles. Promotion of next episode on 'Highlander 2: The Quickening.'

Our hosts return to the Podcave to celebrate Spooky Season by reviewing the episode, Never Fear!Alex and Will dive into Scarecrow's terrifying glow-up — from botched hangings, to dimension hopping with the Ninja Turtles, to odes of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, there's no shortage of theories on how he ended up looking like an extra in the music video for Thriller. But which origin story is actually canon? They also break down Bruce's lamest disguise yet, speculate on what class-A substance might be in Scarecrow's new anti-fear toxin, and discuss the Master of Fear's apparent terror of… filming ransom videos.Tip Jar: https://buymeacoffee.com/batmantaspodMobster Mash 1-2 Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speechcomics/mobster-mash-1-2-classic-movie-monsters-as-mobstersJoin Our Discord - https://discord.com/invite/bQF76V3nUsOutbreaks Vol. 1 Kickstarter - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/speechcomics/outbreaks-volume-1-an-ongoing-zombie-anthology-series?ref=discovery&term=outbreaks&total_hits=1475&category_id=252Follow us on TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@batmantaspod?_t=8zn1yhsgnfz&_r=1Follow us on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@batmantaspodFollow the Pod on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/batmantaspod/Follow the Pod on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/BatmanTASPod/Follow the Pod on Twitter - https://twitter.com/batmantaspod1Subscribe to Will's Patreon - https://www.patreon.com/willrobsonSpeech Comics Website - https://www.speechcomics.com/Will's WhatNot Page - https://www.whatnot.com/user/speechcomics

This week on the Toy Power Podcast; we are still sending 'Get Well' Cards to Trent, as he unfortunately misses this ep. But that won't slow us down; as Scot has a fantastic rundown on the Greatest Star Wars Movie - that never was! Yes - the infamous 'Shadows Of The Empire!' Famously worked into 'cannon' between the Original Films of: Empire Strikes Back & Return Of The Jedi. This wasn't just a Story or a Comicbook series - this was a Multimedia Project that also spanned into a Soundtrack, Video Games and of course a self-titled line of Toys! Was, or is this, the biggest Movie that never was?! Then keeping in the same similar theme of Movies; we transform into another round of The Team! With this round focusing on the Autobots that where released in 1986 (The Movie Year). This was a lot of fun! But we would love to hear some future ideas for The Team Comp - as we are starting to run out of ideas! Thanks, and as always - Enjoy!Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

This week on Toys on Tap, we sit down with Christian of Pope Toys for a deep dive into the wild intersections of collecting, customizing, and creating. From childhood Ninja Turtle hunts and Ghostbuster yard-sale scores to horror-inspired kitbashes and rare bootleg finds, the conversation traces how a love of toys evolved into a resin-casting practice that thrives on experimentation. Along the way, they unpack the challenges of painting, resin work in cold climates, and the realities of shipping indie toys across borders. Christian opens up about his creative journey; from music and stencil art to cult-themed toy lines and previews projects heading to DesignerCon, including his Halloween release Tuscan Chainsaw Massacre. On Instagram: @pope.toysThis Episode is Sponsored by: Empire Blisters – Your go-to source for blister packaging! In S5Ep8 of the PRP, Adam symposiums with decades-long distance runner, decorated Wayne State alum, physical therapy powerhouse, multifaceted running coach and proud mama bear, Dr. Lauren Couls, who has been preparing for the Red Moon Trail 25K on August 9th, 2025. Jen Rock Buslepp, Wayne State hall of famer, Olympic Trials qualifier, mama bear extraordinaire and blossoming photographer joins the show to offer her take on running burnout, mom brain and of course, the Ninja Turtles.Buckle up as the squad unpacks how Lauren's PT and coaching approach has evolved—from prescribing fixes to fostering lightbulb moments. By guiding athletes to discover answers for themselves, she sparks lasting growth and resilience; shifting runners' perspectives on body mechanics and training strategies in the long run (pun intended) instead of just slapping bandaids on injuries.Things get vulnerable when the trio digs into the hard questions around coaching, healing, and stewardship. What happens when your body says pause but your identity screams run? How do you balance competitiveness with compassion—for yourself and others? And how can each of us support this community, even when we're not the ones pinning on the bib?For both Lauren & Jen, that journey has meant evolving from high-level competitors to coaches, healers, and now moms. Deconstructing their identities as runners, then slowly rebuilding them hasn't always been easy, but that process has sharpened their perspective, deepened their empathy, and made them more attuned to what really matters. Together, the crew explores what it means to grow with the sport rather than against it: redefining success, embracing rest, finding identity beyond medals and splits, and guiding athletes to run not just stronger but smarter - all while cultivating a deeper relationship with the sport and, in turn, with themselves.Ummm, triple stroller Guinness World Record?!? Hootie & the Blowfish singalongs??? Gilligan's Island & Andy Griffith (yeah we old)! Jesus, is that you? Tornadoes, Facebook pokes and bilateral FAI, oh my!This and so much more in a laughter-filled, wisdom-packed, and deeply heartfelt running mama edition of the PRP.
Eric starts wondering what's really under our streets, and that kicks off a full dive (not literally, thankfully) into the mysterious world of sewers. From Ninja Turtles to storm drains to Todd's run-ins with underground cabling, we try to figure out how any of this actually works—and how much of it is just movie magic.Sewer knowledge from three key sources: Ninja Turtles, D&D maps, and real-life manholesThe difference between storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and telecom tunnelsHow cities built these systems in the first placeWhy the sewers in movies are way bigger and cleaner than realityCould you really travel cross-country underground? (spoiler: no)Sewer workers, mystery societies, and the unknown world beneath our feetIt's easily one of the #$%^iest conversations we've had on the TodCast - and we mean that in the most literal way possible.

Send us a textWho would win in a fight between the Ninja Turtles and the Power Rangers? As they analyze fighting styles, weapons, and special abilities, nostalgic memories of Saturday morning cartoons emerge, leading to a spirited discussion about UPN's golden era of Black television shows. The conversation shifts to boxing's decline as they evaluate the upcoming Floyd Mayweather vs. Mike Tyson exhibition match. "Not all money is worth it," one host argues, questioning why legends risk their legacy for exhibition fights that won't count toward official records. This prompts a deeper conversation about boxing's lost cultural relevance. Things get juicy when we dissect Young Thug's leaked jail phone calls that have revealed shocking comments about fellow artists including Future, Kendrick Lamar, and his alleged infidelity against girlfriend Mariah the Scientist. "These calls are dropping like mixtapes used to in the early 2000s," they observe, questioning who might have a vendetta against the Atlanta rapper. The episode closes with a thought-provoking moral dilemma from Denzel Washington's latest film: if you had $18 million and kidnappers demanded $17.5 million for someone else's child they mistakenly took instead of yours, would you pay? He shares the history of the movie and how it became the highest-grossing independent film of its time. He talks about why the movie is one of his Top 10 of all-time, how it felt watching it for the first time on the big screen and the top moments that still hold up after 35 years. In the Movie Review, Mike talks about Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters which had sing-along screenings over the weekend. It follows a K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, who lead double lives as demon hunters. They face off against a rival boy band, the Saja Boys, whose members are secretly demons. Mike talks about what sticks out about the animation, how the movie made a statement on the music industry and the pressures of being a pop star and why you shouldn’t be afraid to go to the movies alone for sing-along events. In the Trailer Park, Mike talks about Marty Supreme starring Timothée Chalamet. It is inspired by the life of legendary table tennis player Marty Reisman.
