Fear is a mile wide and an inch deep but as we approach big life and work decisions, that reality fades and we conjure up worst case scenario steps that ultimately lead to zero in our bank account and death. What's the best way to approach these type of decisions and not fear swirl, leading to anxiety and inaction? In this solo episode, I (Joseph) will take you through my process for making big decisions that include defining the ideal outcome, the steps involved, what could go wrong, and more. It's important to look at the major angles to make the best decision possible but we know far too many that overanalyze and don't take necessary action. Make the decision from an informed place and sprint. --------------------- Rate, Review, and Follow on Apple Podcasts “I love these conversations!” If that sounds like you, please consider rating and reviewing the show. Have you ever had a difficult time making a decision? I used to worry myself over every little decision I had to make…everything from what to order on a menu to where to go shopping for groceries. I was a worry-wart of the worst kind. (Say that ten times fast.) Over the years, through great counsel, Biblical principles, and much trial and error, I've learned that making decisions, big or small, doesn't have to be something excruciating or worrisome. God tells us not to worry but to seek Him instead. In this episode of The Woman Inspired Podcast we're talking about Making Big Decisions. Decision-making is a skill we should have all learned in school, but didn't. On this episode, we're going to learn how to make decisions - and not little inconsequential ones, but the big life-changing and life-defining decisions - with the help of Abby Davisson. Abby has dedicated her career to helping others achieve their goals, first as a social innovation leader and now as an author and entrepreneur. She is the co-author of Money and Love: An Intelligent Roadmap for Life's Biggest Decisions and the founder and CEO of the Money and Love Institute, which helps people make better decisions that lead to happiness, prosperity, and purpose. When making decisions, sometimes a pause is helpful, sometimes you do really need to “think about it”, but at some point – and I'm guessing that point is much sooner than we think – we must decide. We cannot make progress, we don't get closer to what matters, without making decisions. So it's time we learn how to make the best ones for us! We are driven by our values. Sometimes however, our values change, or we find ourselves in a place where it's hard to live out our values. So we think about change. Which requires decisions. And boom. A crossroads. The comfort and security of where we are and what is known, and the fear of the unknown. It's a big deal. However, I've got really hopeful news for you. A resource if you will. How would you like a manual for how to make it as easy and secure as possible? Emily P. Freeman is the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of five books, including The Next Right Thing: A Simple Soulful Practice for Making Life Decisions. This book became so popular that Emily now has a nationally ranked podcast of the same name, The Next Right Thing, which already has more than 24 million downloads. Emily regularly offers perspective and clarity for more than 120K followers on Instagram. After doing the research to masterfully address decision making, Emily has turned her focus to making change. Her new book is How to Walk into a Room: The Art of Knowing When to Stay and When to Walk Away. We went really, really deep into the real and perceived risks of change. Then we spent nearly half our time together walking through 10 questions Emily has masterfully outlined to help us discern if a change is truly wise and fitting. We even hit on personality styles and talk about those who change is easier for, but that those who struggle more with change often actually do it more successfully. As you'll hear, I'm the former, for the record. I've never experienced a more clear and concise plan for taking so much of the fear and risk out of big decisions and changes and I won't address it again the same way. So next up, Emily P Freeman and a deep discussion to help us all with big decision and change to help equip us to drive more authentically and efficiently through the ups, downs, lefts and rights of life. How to make big decisions? This theme has come up over and over in my sessions with clients. People who struggle to make big decisions are immersed in confusion and hesitation. Besides, they may be waiting for something to happen before making these big decisions. And they also think that they are not brave enough and that some other people are wired to jump, but they simply can't do it. It doesn't work like that. Everyone has the same design in their brain. It's not that they're brave and you're not. The people who make big, bold decisions have overridden the fear installed by the primitive brain. And you can do it too. So today, I share with you guys how I have made big decisions in my life and the framework I use to walk myself through the other side, especially when I'm really scared and don't know what I will find once I make the leap. What I mention in this episode:The big seven leaps I made in my own personal lifeThe reason why vagueness is the enemy of actionThe role of consistency when making changes What you'll learn from it:The definition and characteristics of a big decisionThe four steps to making big decisions A practical exercise for overriding the fear center of your brain How to deal with the fear of loneliness I hope this episode helps you realize that you must be willing to blow things up a little bit to find the beauty waiting for you on the other side. Do you have a sound process for making big decisions? The truth is most people don't, even if they say they do. So how do most people make decisions? They rely on how they feel. As a coach, I partner with many senior-level leaders who still rely squarely on their emotions (especially negative ones) to determine their actions. Should I quit this job now? Should I start or end a relationship? How should I handle this conflict with this customer? Given the amount of life and career stress, people have been experiencing in the last few years... Frustration, impatience, apathy, anger, etc often lay just beneath the surface Masked behind fake smiles and small talk. In this week's episode, I discuss the importance of having a decision-making process; as well as the elements to consider. - Stella FREE TRAINING Register for The Catapult Your Career Bootcamp (http://thecatapultbootcamp.com) WORK WITH US Join the Catapult Your Career Program (http://cycprogram.com) GET IN TOUCH Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stellaodogwu/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_intelle/ Email: contact@intelle.us Text: 948-519-4554

Is anyone making big decisions in life these days? You know, the kind of decisions that require digging deep, doing research, leaning on mentors, and trusting your gut to propel yourself to another level. If so, today's episode is really going to help you. The guest on today's show is none other than my 17-year-old son Brady. He's soon about to face one of his first big life decisions--which college he wants to attend. We recently went on an “East Coast tour” this summer to see some of his top picks, and when all was said and done, there were 7-lessons we extracted out of the process of making “big” decisions. And while this may sound like a deep conversation to have with a 17-year-old, and it is, it is also a fun and light-hearted interview that you are going to enjoy. Even if the decisions you are making have nothing to do with choosing colleges or schools, the lessons/principles shared will serve you well when going through any “big” decision-making process in life. Some of the topics we discuss in “decision-making” are: - Making “big” decisions while in pain; Brady just had shoulder surgery. - What it means to have “boots on the ground.” - Why having a “plus” and “minus” sheet is important. - The importance of first impressions and what they mean in real life. - Divine signs that come out of asking the right questions. - How do you trust your gut, and what do you do if your head and your heart do not agree. - The “7” steps to making the right decision. - The “parent's role” in helping kids make big decisions. - Brady making his college decision on this episode? In today's interview, I think you will see and hear why Brady is so special to me. He's a smart kid, he cares a ton, and he has a vision of what he wants to do with his life. I had a great time interviewing him and am pumped to see what the future has in store for him. There's a lot of important decisions to make in life: Does the toliet paper unwind closer to wall or further from it? Should I go back to that bowl-cut I had in elementary school? How to fight a bear... and win? If you're like us, you've encountered some big decisions in life and felt like you didn't fully have the wisdom you needed to make the right choice. That's where you don't know if you should trust your gut, God, or your friends. Well fear not, your favorite podcast trio is back to discuss an insightful question from a listener like you: - "How important do you think it is to get counsel from others? When making big decisions, should we just seek the Lord for direction or include seeking wisdom from others?" BUT as always the group gets really deep into conversations over a segment called: "Tall Tales From The West...?"
