In this episode of Breaking Barriers, Andrew Hopper and J.D. unpack the philosophy, the failures, and the flywheel behind one of the most prolific sending churches in America. Send us Fan MailEpisode 129 of The Waypoint Podcast features Dyke and Rebecca chatting with Waypoint's own Lisa Cole, Director of Planting Wives Care, for an important conversation. Church planting is filled with challenges, sacrifices, and unseen pressures, and often the wives of church planters carry unique burdens while serving faithfully behind the scenes. No one understands and cares about these details more than Lisa, who has spent years walking alongside these women from the very beginning, offering encouragement, wisdom, and care through every stage of the journey. In this episode, the conversation explores why caring for planting wives matters so deeply, what churches and leaders often overlook, and how healthy support can strengthen both families and ministry. This is a conversation every church leader can learn from—one that will increase awareness, inspire compassion, and, as always, encourage and challenge listeners in their own ministry journey.Contact Lisa at lcole@waypointchurchpartners.comRemember you can always find us atwaypointchurchpartners.comFollow us atfacebook.com/WaypointChurchPartnersinstagram @waypointchurchpartnersThe Waypoint Podcast is hosted and produced by Dyke McCordhosted, produced, and edited by Rebecca HottIf you want to find out more about supporting Waypoint Church Plants head toiplantchurches.comRegister for future Waypoint Events or reach out to any of our Staff!

In Part 2 of this special interview series on Youth Worker On Fire, Doug Edwards continues his conversation with Lance Kramer, missionary, and ministry leader serving near the Arctic Circle in Kotzebue, Alaska. After exploring the spiritual history of Alaska in Part 1, this conversation shifts to something even more personal: Lance's own journey of faith. If you are involved in, considering, or simply interested in church planting, this session is for you; full of practical insights and stories from those taking steps of faith to establish new missional church communities.Damian planted a church with a team in his home town of Corby in 2008 and is now on team at the Church Planting Academy supporting and resourcing leaders to plant new churches.
This sermon explores the story of the church in Antioch from Acts 11 to illustrate how God uses ordinary, unlikely people to accomplish extraordinary kingdom work through church planting. The message emphasizes that stepping out in faith always comes with a cost, but it leads to experiencing Jesus in deeper ways and creates opportunities for new leaders to emerge. The preacher shares his personal journey of planting One Church in Sarasota, highlighting how dependence on God's grace rather than human resources or credentials is what truly matters. The sermon challenges believers to move from being spectators to active participants in the Great Commission, trusting that the same Holy Spirit who empowered the early church is available to believers today. Ultimately, church planting and gospel work multiply kingdom impact when ordinary disciples obey God's call despite their weaknesses and the costs involved.

The heartbeat of the church's mission is to worship God and to invite others to join the chorus through the gospel of Jesus Christ. Part and parcel of this endeavor, then, is church planting, the multiplication of new churches that will, in due time, become established, organized, and worshiping congregations that will seek to plant new churches themselves. As Pastor Zac considers a future in church planting, and as the conversations about the importance of church planting continue on in the Christian Reformed Church, we thought it would be good to think through this timely and important topic in what will be our second to last episode in the life of this podcast, at least as we know it today. College leaders are not just called to send students on meaningful summer experiences. We are called to help form disciples whose vocation, location, and future are shaped by God's mission. This breakout will explore how church planting, marketplace mission, and intentional pathways can help leaders move students from short-term exposure to long-term sending. This session was recorded live at Roundup 2026, a gathering of college ministry leaders hosted by the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention.
Healthy leadership doesn't happen by accident — it is cultivated through intentional personal convictions and sustainable rhythms that keep leaders rooted for the long haul. This resource equips college ministry directors and church leaders with the essential practices that form the whole leader from the inside out, while building a culture that naturally reproduces health in others. This session was recorded live at Roundup 2026, a gathering of college ministry leaders hosted by the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention.Brandon Gilbert serves as an elder at Redeemer Church, where he also leads the Residency, Church Planting, and Institute ministries. He's been in ministry for over 20 years, investing deeply in developing leaders and strengthening the local church. Brandon is married to his wife, Annie, and together they have three kids—Calvin, Luke, and Mollie. When he's not serving in ministry, Brandon enjoys watching airplanes (not flying them—just watching!) and traveling with his family.

Preach Small: Faithfulness, Creation, and Church PlantingIn this episode of the Expositors Collective podcast, Mike speaks with Seth Lewis, pastor of Carrigtwohill Baptist Church in County Cork, Ireland, about the quiet and often hidden work of faithful ministry.Seth reflects on preaching during the first year of a church plant, the temptation to measure ministry by visible size or immediate results, and the importance of aiming our ambitions towards the things that matter to God. Drawing from his book Dream Small: The Secret Power of the Ordinary Christian Life, Seth encourages preachers and church leaders to pay attention to the small acts of faithfulness that often go unseen, but are deeply significant in the kingdom of God.The conversation also explores Seth's second book, The Language of Rivers and Stars: How Nature Speaks of the Glories of God, and how the created world can help preachers read Scripture with fresh attention. Seth discusses the way Jesus used ordinary things - seeds, birds, fields, bread, water, and weather - to reveal profound truths about God, and how modern preachers can learn to see the world as a rich source of theological reflection and sermon illustration.Whether you are preaching in a new church plant, serving in an ordinary and unnoticed place, or seeking to grow in your personal study and public proclamation of God's Word, this conversation is an invitation to embrace the small, attend to creation, and preach with patient faithfulness.Seth Lewis is pastor of Carrigtwohill Baptist Church in County Cork, Ireland. He and his wife Jessica have three children, a turtle, and a small garden. Seth is the author of Dream Small: The Secret Power of the Ordinary Christian Life and The Language of Rivers and Stars: How Nature Speaks of the Glories of God. Who actually builds the church — and what's our role in it? In this week's message from our "Welcomed." series, we dive into Acts 13:1-12 and the remarkable story of the church at Antioch becoming a launching pad for the gospel to the ends of the earth. The leadership team alone reads like an unlikely cast — a former church-ravager, a lifelong friend of a corrupt king, and men from across ethnic and cultural backgrounds — all brought together by the transforming power of the gospel. Jesus builds His church through gospel transformation, gospel mission, and gospel power. And in His grace, He builds it with people — changed people, people in teams, and people who are expectant and responsive to the Holy Spirit. Whether you're wondering where you fit, how to contribute, or what it even means to be the church, this message is a compelling invitation to show up, lean in, and trust that Jesus is doing something far bigger than any one of us. He could build it without us — but He's chosen not to.For more information about Integrity Church, visit our website, http://liveintegritychurch.orgConnect with us on social media throughout the week to stay up to date on events and things happening at Integrity!Instagram: @integrity_churchFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/liveintegrity/

Tom highlights the ways the EPC is working to equip, support, and send leaders into new communities with the gospel. Who is Jesus, according to Jesus? We will answer that question by exploring seven scandalous claims he makes in the Gospel of John, known as the "I AM" statements. In John 8, Jesus declares, "I am the light of the world." Interestingly, this is the only "I AM" statement he also attributes to his followers (Matt. 5:14). We are called to be the light of the world as we walk alongside the ultimate Light. The interactions surrounding this claim demonstrate that light reveals what is hidden—not to destroy, but to restore; not to shame, but to heal. We can only effectively fulfill our calling to be "light" if we first step into that light ourselves, experiencing the full weight of Jesus' love and grace.

What does success in church planting actually look like?In this special crossover episode between the Expositors Collective and Cultivate podcasts, Mike Neglia speaks with Brian Kelly about the realities of planting and pastoring a church. Brian brings over twenty years of experience in church planting and mission work across East Africa, New Zealand, and the United States, along with firsthand involvement in multiple church plants and sending many others into ministry.Together they discuss the weight that comes with planting a church, why the language of “planting” is a better metaphor than a startup model, and how pastors should think more like gardeners than entrepreneurs. Drawing on insights from The Pastor as Gardener: A Renewed Vision for Ministry by Matthew Erickson, the conversation explores the slow, patient work of cultivating spiritual growth in a church community. They also talk about the importance of planting teams, the role of families in ministry, the perseverance required to stay the course, and how initiatives like Cultivate seek to train, mentor, and support new church planters.Whether you are planting a church, pastoring an existing congregation, or preparing for future ministry, this conversation offers wisdom, realism, and encouragement about what faithful ministry really looks like.Find out more about Cultivate here: https://cultivatechurchplanting.com/Upcoming Training WeekendMay 15th-16th, 2026 at Reliance Church in Temecula, CaliforniaTake advantage of early bird pricing until April 26th – only $140 per person!Register Today! The Expositors Collective is a network of pastors, leaders, and laypeople which exists to equip, encourage, and mentor the next generation of Christ-centered preachers. This episode of The Missions Show explores the debate around Church Planting Movements (CPMs), interacting with a Lausanne article that presents them as a highly effective missions strategy. Alex Kocman and Scott Dunford explain what CPMs are and why they generate both enthusiasm and concern, especially regarding their emphasis on rapid multiplication and minimal training. Alex and Scott raise key theological and practical questions about doctrine, discipleship, and the definition of the church. While affirming the desire for gospel growth, they caution against prioritizing speed and numbers over biblical faithfulness, urging listeners to focus on sound doctrine and trust God for lasting fruit.
