Today on the show, my co-host James Wisneski and I discuss how Christmas marks the beginning of a journey from the Manger to the cross. After all, Jesus was born to die. As we engage in this important conversation, we encourage you to ask God to prepare your heart for this life-changing season! Listen with gratitude for Christ's sacrifice and love for us, and please share this with your family and friends. Merry Christmas!
Rocky and Bryan share thoughts about the importance of understanding why Jesus came to the earth. He came to die. Ever since the Garden of Eden, when intimacy with the Father was lost due to sin, God had a plan to restore that intimacy. The plan was Jesus. Merry Christmas, Influencers. May this podcast help you as you “treasure up all these things in your heart” this Christmas.

Free Advent Guide: Are you looking to deepen your prayer life this season? Download our free guide to Carmelite spirituality to help you navigate Advent with purpose: https://midnightcarmelite.com/reset Do you feel pressure to create the perfect "Hallmark Christmas," only to be met with stress, difficult relatives, and a feeling of emptiness? We often think that a perfect holiday means abundance, comfort, and peace. However, Bishop Sheen famously remarked that the saddest moment in history was when there was "no room at the inn." In this episode of Midnight Carmelite, we explore the profound theology behind the Manger and the Inn. While the Inn represents a world full of itself with no room for God, the Manger represents the poverty, lack, and discomfort where Christ actually chooses to be born. We discuss how you can transform family tension, awkward conversations, and holiday chores into an offering of "straw" for the baby Jesus, turning your struggles into a path for deep spiritual growth. In this episode, you will learn: The Spiritual Value of Discomfort: Why Christ chose the cold, smelly manger over the comfort of the inn, and what that means for your holiday struggles. How to Navigate Family Conflict: Practical advice on practicing spiritual poverty when dealing with difficult situations or hurtful comments. From Possession to Freedom: Understanding St. John of the Cross's teaching that to possess God, we must desire to possess nothing—including our own will.

Born In A Manger Part 2 | Pastor Jeffrey Smith by City of Life Church
Jesus didn't enter the world in power, wealth, or status—He chose humility. He chose poverty. He chose faithfulness over prestige. In Luke 2, the eternal Son of God takes on flesh, steps into our humanity, and begins His rescue mission in a manger. The same Jesus who valued Mary and Joseph's faithfulness is the Jesus who came in humility to save us.

Hey GIGI kids, Today we have a great story for you called "The Case of the Missing Manger." A story reminding us that Christmas is about Jesus and not the material things. Here's a sneak peek.... Sunnyhill Primary was buzzing with excitement. The scent of crayons, pine decorations, and fresh photocopy paper filled the Year 2 classroom. It was one week before Christmas, and that meant only one thing: The Christmas Assembly was nearly here! "Alright, everyone," said Mrs Lane, clapping her hands. "Time to unpack the nativity props!" Cheers filled the air. Rosie bounced on her toes. "I hope the angel wings are back!" Elijah grinned. "I just hope the shepherd costumes don't itch this year." Hannah, holding her script, smiled proudly. "Well, I'm Mary. So I get to rock the baby Jesus!" Mrs Lane gently opened a large storage box and carefully unwrapped a small, hand-carved wooden manger. Nestled inside was a cloth-wrapped baby Jesus figure with painted eyes and a peaceful smile. "This," she said, holding it up, "is the most important part of our nativity." The class grew quiet. Even Luca stopped fidgeting. Mrs Lane placed the manger gently on a small table at the front of the classroom. Around it, they arranged tiny cardboard animals, some straw, and wooden figures of Mary, Joseph, and the shepherds. "We decorate, we sing, we wear costumes," said Mrs Lane, "but remember—Jesus is the reason for Christmas. Not lights or lollies or tinsel—Jesus." Rosie felt a warm, special feeling in her chest. She looked at the tiny baby and whispered, "You're the whole reason we're doing this." The children spent the rest of the afternoon rehearsing. Hannah practiced rocking a pretend baby, Elijah worked on his shepherd lines, and Rosie read her narration into the microphone. But as the sun dipped behind the schoolyard trees and the last bell rang, none of them knew what was coming. The manger would be gone by morning. And the Christmas mystery… would begin. What happened next? In a season filled with noise, deadlines, and nonstop activity, Pastor Woody Morwood invites us to rediscover the heart of Christmas. Through a simple yet powerful fable about a man trying to guide birds to safety in a storm, he reveals why Jesus came close—why God stepped into our world, our struggles, and our humanity.Drawing from John 1:1–14, Pastor Woody explores the radical truth that the eternal Creator became human so we could understand His love. He also challenges us to consider how many people in Jesus' day missed His arrival—and how easily we can do the same amid the pressures and pace of modern life. With the symbols of the Star, the Crown, and the Manger, this message reframes Christmas as God offering the greatest gift imaginable: Himself. Dive in to learn why Jesus is our high priest and why that is important to us in the third episode of our Christmas Series, More Than a Manger Scene
It's the third week of Advent. Listen in as Pastor Alex continues or sermon series Miracle in the Manger. This week is the miracle of joy!
More Than A Manger | More Than A Yes | Pastor Ian Gilchrist
Pastor Sam Rainer preaches a Christmas series about the references to Jesus' birth in the New Testament letters. This sermon covers Romans 1:3-5. Christmas without Easter is incomplete, and Easter without Christmas is impossible. Christmas is not just a sentimental story; it is an announcement of God's mission.
The story of Christ’s birth is filled with divine reversals—moments where God chose humility over grandeur and simplicity over splendor. Instead of being born in a palace fit for a king, Jesus entered the world in a lowly manger among livestock, revealing a Savior who draws near to the humble. The Magi, guided by God’s star and later by His Spirit, demonstrate how no one finds Jesus on their own—He leads us to Himself. This season, we are invited to return to the manger with hearts open to wonder, worship, and the profound meaning of Christ’s humble arrival. Main Takeaways You’ll learn why Jesus’ humble birthplace reveals God’s upside-down kingdom and His heart for the lowly. Discover how the Magi’s journey shows that God Himself leads people to Christ. Understand the prophetic connections between Isaiah 53, Luke 2, and Matthew 2. Reflect on how the Holy Spirit guides believers today to continually rediscover Christ. Be encouraged to seek Jesus wholeheartedly and worship Him with the same joy and reverence as the Magi. Open our eyes to the wonder of His humble birth and the beauty of Your plan. Help us seek Him wholeheartedly, like the Magi, and worship Him with joy, awe, and reverence. The Son Who Climbed The Mountain Speaker: Michael Shockley, ReCreate Church Scripture: Genesis 22 Episode Summary In part 2 of our Christmas 2025 series, Pastor Michael tells the story of Isaac - the original "Son Who Climbed The Mountain" - and reveals how it points directly to Jesus. Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his promised son on Mount Moriah foreshadows God's sacrifice of His own Son on the same mountain centuries later. This isn't just an Old Testament story - it's a Christmas story about faith, provision, and the ultimate Substitute. Key Points - Abraham waited 25 years for the promised son Isaac, learning to trust God's timing - God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Isaac, but was teaching that He provides the sacrifice - Abraham believed God could raise Isaac from the dead to keep both the command and the promise - Mount Moriah, where Isaac was spared, is the same location where Jesus died centuries later - Isaac lived because a ram died in his place; we live forever because Jesus died in our place Main Takeaway Faith climbs the mountain before it sees the miracle. Abraham trusted God enough to take the first step up Mount Moriah, and God provided a substitute sacrifice. We trust Jesus before we understand every detail, and then we receive the miracle of forgiveness, freedom, and new life. Memorable Quotes - "Faith climbs the mountain before it sees the miracle." - "God will show up in your life. Often when you aren't looking for Him, and rarely when it's convenient." - "God doesn't want to take Abraham's son; He wants to give His Own Son." - "Abraham answered with a line that echoes through the centuries: 'My son, God Himself will provide the lamb.'" - "Before the Manger, there was the Mountain. Before the swaddling clothes, there was sacrificial wood on a son's back." - "God wasn't teaching Abraham to sacrifice his son; He was teaching that HE Provides The Sacrifice." - "Isaac lived because a ram died in his place. We can live forever because Jesus died in our place." Reflection Question What mountain is God asking you to climb in faith before you see the miracle? Tune in to hear the powerful parallel between Isaac and Jesus, why Die Hard is definitely a Christmas movie, and how a 99-year-old man's laughter became the name of the promised son. The Christmas story isn't cozy or romantic. It's messy, uncomfortable, and real. Jesus, the Light of the world, wasn't born in a palace or temple. He came to a dirty stable, to exhausted parents, into the most improbable place imaginable. Jesus meets you right where you are, no need to clean up first. His light shines brightest in our darkest places.

“For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time.” (1 Timothy 2:5–6 NLT) One way to prepare for Christmas is to consider the long-reaching implications of the Incarnation. There’s a reason that human history is split into two eras: before Christ’s birth and after. Nothing was ever the same again. One implication of Jesus’ coming that rarely gets mentioned at Christmastime is found in John 14:6. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (NLT). The apostle Paul put it this way: “For, there is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message God gave to the world at just the right time” (1 Timothy 2:5–6 NLT). When God sent His Son into the world to fulfill His plan of salvation, He eliminated the possibility that there is any other path to Him. Jesus alone can bridge the gulf that sin created between us and God. Jesus alone can give us eternal life. One of the most frequently asked questions regarding the Christian faith goes something like this: “What about the person who has never heard that Jesus is the only way to God? What about the person in the middle of the jungle who has never heard the gospel?” (The person in question is almost always in a jungle for some reason.) The teaching that Jesus Christ is the only way to God has never been popular. But it’s never been more controversial than it is today. If you want to get someone’s blood boiling, quote John 14:6 or 1 Timothy 2:5–6. The “Coexist” bumper sticker on their car will catch fire. To say that Jesus is the only way to God is, in effect, to have the audacity to say that other religions are not true. That’s the way the spiritual equation works itself out, and people don’t like it. It’s acceptable to say that Jesus is a way to God. But when you dare to say that He is the only way, then you can be certain that you’ll have some pushback. But here’s what it comes down to. As believers, we have to say what the Bible says, whether it’s popular or not. It’s not for us to edit the message of the Bible. Our responsibility is simply to deliver the message. Otherwise, it would be like a doctor who discovers a very serious problem with a patient’s health but then is unwilling to say what the problem is, out of concern that it might make the patient uncomfortable. We must tell people the truth about their real condition, which happens to be sinful, and then seek to save them, which is to point them to Jesus Christ as the only solution. Have you ever looked up and realized you’ve been heading in the wrong direction? We often lose our way long before we know it—because what seems right at first isn’t always the right way. But the good news of Christmas is this: God didn’t just point the way, he became the way so we could find our way to the path that leads to peace and purpose.
