To accomplish encouragement to live out motherhood with a purposeful kingdom mindset, taking motherhood as a calling to disciple our children into the kingdom of God while receiving daily grace and daily strength through Christ and the Holy Spirit. To take our daily flaws and consistent failures as an opportunity to grow in the Lord and to see ourselves as God’s own children, to learn to live under His discipline while embracing His constant grace.
Have you ever gone through something so dark that you feel trapped with no way out? Like drowning and trying to come up to the surface to get a breath of oxygen? We all have gone through seasons where we feel afraid, alone, overburdened, and trapped…some call it “rock bottom”, we call it “the valley”. Pamela speaks on a personal level her own story of redemption, where God met her at her darkness, and walked with her through the long journey of postpartum and anxiety. She hopes to bring awareness to what nearly every mom battles alone as she shares her experience and how Jesus showed up and lit up the darkness she found herself in. You are not alone. We've walked through it too momma. Jesus got you! If you or anyone you know is battling depression or anxiety, we have attached some resources that may help you. Please spread the word and the awareness, but most of all SPREAD LOVE! https://www.postpartum.net https://psidirectory.com https://www.regenerationrecovery.org https://instagram.com/momandmind?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Have you found yourself pulling away from the people around you? Is the unrealistic expectation of how others should treat you or view you one of the reasons you remain alone? We've all been there, we are all prone to the habit of isolating ourselves to our “safe” space, yet by keeping any ounce of pain out, we also keep out the love and the joy we receive from the world. Isolation is a dangerous trap, it promises safety and comfort yet hands us the complete opposite. You're not alone. The Lord is calling us near to Him, He knows exactly the nature of who we are and still chooses to call us to Himself. If we are fully known by Him, and fully Loved by Him, then what is stopping us? Today is the day to live loved and accepted, no matter your mess.
It's easy for fear to overcome and overwhelm us when the world around us is chaotic. Losses, hardship, and a total brokenness of everything good surrounding us. But there is hope, and it's found in a person, Jesus. The prince of peace. As believers our highest calling is to love God and love others, and as we surrender and walk in our calling, God will bring life and peace to a world gripped by fear and pain, as He uses us for His great purpose. So don't lose hope, Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose eyes are fixed on you.” You hear that?! Perfect peace!! Yes, not small peace, circumstantial peace, or momentary peace, but PERFECT PEACE. As we live, surrender, and place our focus on Him, no matter the chaos that is happening around us. Now that's the Peace He offers.
Living by the flesh vs. living by the Spirit. We will never see improvements in our flesh. Our flesh can't be fixed. It must be put to death. If our flesh could be fixed then Jesus would not have nailed it to the cross. I become all too frustrated when I ask God to “take this away from me” and then I see no improvements, in my flesh. I do what I need to In order to “improve” or “rid of” my struggles. Yet far too often I drift away from the Truth that “I can't fix me” and the reality is “I can't fix my flesh” I must put it to death, just as Jesus did, and in that I will learn a new truth. The Truth of what it looks like to live by the Spirit. Jesus didn't die so He could fix our “flesh”, He died and rose again so that we may learn a new way. The way of the Spirit. To live by it, be filled by it, and produce every bit of fruit that comes from it. Not by our own human efforts, but by the Power that comes from Him. So I prayed a new prayer yesterday that has been bringing new meaning to my life and to all the scripture I know: “Lord, teach me to live by the Spirit and NOT by the flesh.” In Jesus name. Amen. (Galatians 5:1-25)
Truth is the foundational element that never changes in which everything is sustained.
Do you have those days when your own mind takes a hold of you and you feel in bondage? I know I do! The greatest struggles we face begin in the mind. When we come to the end of our rope, after we have tried it all and made all effort, God takes us to a place of surrender. Romans 12:2 says to not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of our minds. Most of the struggles we face within ourselves began as perceptions we created from experiences in our past that became truths we believed and walked in for so long...with that knowledge in mind I read Romans 12:2 differently “Do not be confirmed to [your experiences, perceptions, and emotions] but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-His good, perfect, and pleasing will.” My past no longer has to define my present, my emotions no longer have control over my actions, and the truth is no longer based on what I've been through but of what God says in His Word. Transformation is attainable by God's Word. Be submerged in His Word. Be raw and honest with God. Replace all lies with Truth. And asking God to expose our unbelief and tear out the root of our struggles. {Book reference-‘Forgiving what you can't forget' by Lysa Terkeurst}
(Génesis 29-30) Rachel was the “beloved wife” of Jacob. Even though Jacob had worked 14 years to marry her and loved her deeply, she still felt unworthy because she could not bear children in comparison to Leah who bore many. In Leah's world children equal led worth. As I read this story I want to hug Rachel and tell her “Don't you see? Jacob loves you! God loves you! You aren't defined by the offspring you can or can't produce!” How many times do we live comparing, resentful, unworthy, and tired of striving because we try to earn something we already have? Time is wasted. Our abilities, the world's view, what we have or don't have, DO NOT DEFINE US. Listen sister, they DO NOT DEFINE US. Rachel's worth may have fluctuated in the eyes of her world, but her true worth never changed in the eyes of her Creator. And the same is true for us. We are Loved and we are worthy! Not because of what we do or what we have but because of what God has already done in Christ. How different would our life look if we lived loved everyday?
God uses our children to teach and mold us, as parents, and helps us understand that parenting is a response to our true purpose,which is to Glorify and worship God. Sacred parenting gives us a new perspective and while doing so, it shapes our soul. God demonstrated that when he sent Jesus to die on the cross for us. What can we learn from the struggles and uncertainties that 2020 brought? Reflect on how you were able to overcome the tough seasons that came in this year. How did God mold you and how can you carry what you learned into the New Year? Reflect/list 10 things you're grateful for this year. Identify 3 things you struggled with? How did God help you through those 3 things? Or How can you use your last experience to go to God the next time you have to endure something similar? How can you use what you learned to pour into someone else? Is there someone in your life that you can emotionally/spiritually pour into? If not, pray God bring someone to your life that you can bless.
Many times our daily tasks take over our time with Jesus. When we allow our day to day to prevent us from getting filled from God we tend to be anything but compassionate. May this episode encourage you to want to be more like Jesus.
Take us back to Lot, his sin, and the nations that came from it, but God doesn't end it there. He uses people like us, to redeem humanity and bring us close to Him. Don't lose hope! Because there is nothing you and I can do to mess up our kids as far as God cannot redeem them. His will is good and is always done, no matter what. Live in that grace today!
Parenting is laying our life down for the needs of others. As mothers, we are constantly laying down our own needs for the good of our children, including our husbands. But none of our work is in vain, and not one of Gods words come back void. Trusting requires faith, waiting requires faith. At the right time, in Gods time, we will reap a harvest of blessings, if we don't get discouraged and give up.
An introduction to our listeners, talking a bit about our personal lives and personal struggles as we talk about the reason why we created this podcast. Ending with an encouragement to our listeners as we read and apply Hebrews 4:16 to our daily parenting.
