Because Jesus has opened a new and living way by His blood and serves as our great High Priest, believers can draw near to God with bold confidence and full assurance of faith. On the strength of God's proven faithfulness, the church is called to hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering. And as the Day draws near, we must not neglect meeting together, but actively stir one another up to love, good works, and real ministry through encouragement and prayer.

In this class, we continue our study through the book of Hebrews by examining Hebrews 10:1–31, focusing on the sufficiency and finality of Christ's sacrifice. The writer contrasts the repeated, insufficient sacrifices of the Old Testament with Jesus' once-for-all offering, which truly removes sin and perfects those who are being sanctified. We explore why the old covenant could never fully take away sin, how Jesus fulfilled and replaced it, and what it means for believers today to live with confidence, faithfulness, and perseverance. Special attention is given to the practical application of the “Let Us” passages—drawing near to God, holding fast to our hope, and encouraging one another—along with a sober warning about willful rejection of Christ. This lesson reminds us that Jesus is not just enough—He is everything.
Todaywe're continuing in Ephesians chapter 6, moving on to verse 16. We're talkingabout our enemy, the devil, and our protection and defense against him. As Paulhas said, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you might be able to standagainst the wiles of the devil.” Paul is now describing the equipment thatGod has provided for every believer so that we can stand and withstand theattacks of the evil one. As we come to verse 16, we're looking at one of themost important pieces of the armor. Verse 16 says, “Above all, taking theshield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts ofthe wicked.” My friend, this is soimportant as we stand against all the wiles of the devil. AsPaul was describing this armor, the believers in Ephesus would no doubt havebeen very familiar with the Roman soldiers of their day. The shield hedescribes here is not just a small, round shield used in hand-to-hand combat. This is a large shield, sometimes described as being like a door—about fourfeet tall and two feet wide. A soldier could stand behind it and be almostcompletely covered. It was often made of wood and covered with thick leather, sometimes even soaked in water, so that when fiery arrows hit it, the firewould be extinguished. Paul says this is what faith does for the believer. Thereis another powerful picture here when we think about this shield. Romansoldiers would often lock their shields together, forming a wall that advancedas one. That reminds us that we are not fighting this battle alone. God has putus in the body of Christ. We stand together. We pray together. We encourage oneanother. The Lord strengthens His people as they move forward in unity. Nownotice this shield. Our protection is called the shield of faith. Faith is soimportant. As we look at the faith Paul is speaking about here, we realize thisis not just saving faith that Ephesians 2 tells us about. We are not saved byour works because we are saved by faith. That is saving faith. Paul is talkinghere about a faith that is living faith—a faith that daily helps us trust inGod, daily depend upon His promises, and daily remain confident in Hischaracter. TheBible tells us in Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible toplease Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is arewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” Now this is so important. Wheredoes faith come from? Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Our faith in God—knowing God, believingwho God is, trusting Him, living an obedient life in the will of God—is basedon our understanding of who God Himself is. “The fear of the Lord is thebeginning of wisdom”. Wisdom is knowing God. The only way to know God isthrough His Word. Theway we know God is to know His Word and understand His Word. We read it. Wememorize it. Remember Psalm 119:11: “Thy word have I hid in mine heart, thatI might not sin against Thee.” Why? Because as you hide His Word in yourheart and meditate on it, you grow stronger. That is why Psalm 1:2-3 is soimportant: “But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law dothhe meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers ofwater, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall notwither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” My friend, that is being inGod's Word. Ifwe want to have a shield of faith, it is connected to the Word of God. Thisfaith is living faith because it is not trusting in something. It is trustingin Someone you know through the Word of God. You love and know God. You believeGod. You trust God and you live in obedience to His Word always doing His will! Habakkuk2:4 declares, “The just shall live by his faith.” Paul repeats thistruth in Romans 1:17 and Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews echoes it again in Hebrews10:38. We understand that faith is not an occasional act. It is a way of life.

We were made for relationships. From the very beginning, God has made us to be relational people who depend on each other. This comes through clearly in Hebrews 10:19-25 as the author casts a compelling vision for how Christians are to be a relationally connected people who don't just "hang out," but help each other endure to the end.
Title: Boldly A-Veil-AbleScripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 3:12-18, Hebrews 10:19-22Series: Be Bold! How can we truly be bold in our faith? Our boldness is only unlocked by the perfect boldness of Jesus. This message explores two major covenantal contrasts. The first contrast addresses Moses and the veil. Jesus removes the veil so we can boldly reflect His glory to others horizontally. The second contrast addresses the Most Holy Place in the Temple. Jesus's sacrifice tore the curtain wide open. This gives us immediate vertical access to the Father's throne room. We can boldly approach God anytime, anywhere. Jesus has made the way wide open for us.
In Hebrews 10:32 we get a glimpse at what the first Christians this book was written to were struggling with. They seemed to be dealing with everything just short of bleeding and being killed for their faith. And yet, the author encourages them to keep going. How do that? How can this text encourage us to perservere?

SERMON HANDOUT Hebrews 10:19–25 19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
This week we tackle one of the most strongly worded warnings in all of the New Testament. We take time to understand the passage and what it was communicating in its time and place, and then we spend a lot of time talking about what it means to have a healthy fear of God.

In this latest mini-series, we will discuss eternal security and objections in Hebrews 10
A line in Hebrews chapter 10 stops us cold: it's a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God. We lean into that tension—grace that saves, holiness that disciplines—and ask what willful sin truly is when we already know the truth. With Hebrews as our guide, we unpack why returning to old systems or familiar comforts isn't neutral; it quietly denies the sufficiency of Jesus' once‑for‑all sacrifice. We start with context. The original audience—Jewish believers—faced pressure to go back to temple sacrifices. The writer's warning is blunt: no other sacrifice remains if you walk away from the only effective one. From there, we explore the vital difference between God's wrath for His adversaries and His fatherly discipline for His children. Expect pruning that grows righteousness, not a pain‑free spirituality. If ongoing, deliberate sin sits easily on the conscience, the Spirit's grief is the alarm we dare not mute. We illustrate “trampling the Son of God underfoot” with a picture of gratitude denied—a rescued debtor ignoring the king who paid it all—because indifference can be its own form of contempt. The conversation turns practical. How do we care for people who claim faith yet persist in open rebellion? Pray with urgency. Confront with Scripture and clarity. And refuse to play judge and executioner—vengeance belongs to the One who knows perfectly. Holy fear is not for scaring the saved; it humbles the heart that's grown casual with God. That kind of reverence restores worship, honesty, and obedience. Finally, we remember the believing Hebrews' past: public shame, prison, and seized property accepted with joy. Why joy? They held a better, lasting possession that outshined every loss. So, we urge courage—do not throw away your confidence. Endure for reward. Live by faith as if Christ might return any moment. The choice stands in bright contrast: persevere toward great reward or shrink back toward ruin. What if perfection isn't about flawlessness, but about being made complete? We continue in Hebrews chapter 10 and discover a new covenant that doesn't ask for more sacrifices or harder striving. It declares, with surprising clarity, that by one offering Jesus has perfected believers for all time—and that God chooses not to remember sins. That single truth reframes the Christian life from a performance to a position, freeing us to approach God with real confidence. We walk through the text's turning point: the law moves from stone to heart, and access to God moves from a guarded room to a torn veil. The old way highlighted our weakness; the new way empowers inner transformation by the Holy Spirit. Faith comes first, then baptism follows as a sign of what Christ has done within. Along the way, we tackle a common struggle—wavering faith in the face of grief, unmet expectations, and spiritual drift—and show how hope rests not on our grip but on the faithfulness of the One who promised.Community becomes essential, not optional. Hebrews calls us to assemble, encourage, and stir one another to love and good works. Isolation magnifies confusion; the local church anchors us in truth, correction, and care. We end with a practical triad you can carry into the week: draw near in faith, hold fast to hope, and stir up love. If you're longing for a clean conscience, deeper assurance, and a reason to re-engage with church life, this conversation points the way back to the finished work of Christ. If this resonated, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs encouragement, and leave a review so more people can find these studies. Would you rather stand in the shadow of a house—or step inside where there's shelter and rest? Hebrews chapter 10 draws a sharp line between the shadow of the law and the solid reality of Jesus, and we walk that line with care, clarity, and hope. We unpack why repeated sacrifices could never cleanse the conscience, how Psalm 40 exposes the emptiness of going through the motions, and what it means that Jesus offered one sacrifice and then sat down because the work is finished. We trace a single thread of salvation from Abraham to today: not by keeping the law, not by rituals or badges of obedience, but by faith that God counts as righteousness. Along the way we explore “the good things to come”—Spirit-empowered obedience, joy in God's presence, a clear conscience, and the sure hope of a glorified body in a renewed creation. If you've ever felt the urge to earn your standing with God or drifted into performative religion, this chapter in Hebrews aims your heart back to the new covenant, where love fuels obedience and the Spirit writes God's law within. You'll hear why priests stood daily while Jesus sat down, why “once for all” changes the way we live on Monday, and how “perfected for all time” frees us from anxious striving. We also talk about community and accountability—moving beyond anonymous attendance toward relationships that shape real discipleship. Step out of the shadow. Step into the house. And let the finished work of Christ redefine your past, redirect your habits, and reframe your future. If this encouraged you, follow the show, share it with a friend who needs clarity on grace, and leave a review to help others find the conversation.Support the showThank you for listening!!
