Today's coaching session looks at a very common obstacle to business success which is: the fear of sounding salesy. In this session I coached a musician who was struggling to find the time for her career after becoming a first-time mom. That, plus a number of other huge life changes this year including moving across the country and losing most of her regular income due to COVID, meant that she felt lost and not sure how to get back on track. In today's session you'll meet Brandi, the founder of a clothing line for travellers who is now preparing to scale her business. However, because it is her first business venture, she feels held back by her limited knowledge and overwhelm at how much there is to do. This would lead to self-sabotaging behaviour, such as sticking to what she does know and ignoring the rest, or worse, doing nothing at all. She also found it difficult to trust in others and often found herself disappointed when people didn't meet her expectations, which of course is an issue because scaling a business inevitably requires teamwork. Today's session is the second session I did with Christina who was my client for episode 11 in which we talked all about financial freedom. Our conversation created some huge money mindset shifts for Christina and as such she was able to hire her first employee, making the switch from being a freelancer to a CEO. However, she was having trouble stepping up to her new role, because she felt that her lack of experience as a CEO meant that she didn't know how to prioritise, delegate and communicate in the way that a CEO should. In today's session I coached a woman whose business, like many people's, had been disrupted due to the coronavirus lockdown. Since she was no longer able to offer the service she normally offered, she was trying to pivot the business and do something different, but she didn't feel motivated to follow through with it which she would then get annoyed at herself for.
