When you think of this movie, you don't remember the plot – you remember the first time you realized a real human being was actually doing all that insane stunt work on your VHS copy.  Is this the most believable “one guy vs. twenty dudes” fighting ever put on film?  Does the awful dubbing ruin the vibe, or is it secretly the thing that makes this movie so endlessly rewatchable?  Is Elaine the most brutally screwed shop owner we've ever covered? We tackle all of this and more as we decide whether Rumble in the Bronx actually holds up… or if we're just here to watch Jackie Chan hit people with refrigerators. •0:00:00 - Introductions •0:02:30 - Memories of first viewing •0:06:00  - Pertinent movie details  •0:10:00  -  Critical and fan reviews •0:16 :00 - Scene by scene breakdown  •1:33 :00 - Modern day ratings —————————————————————— SPONSORS-  **Cedar Ridge Distillery-  Go check out our sponsor and order some whiskey.  http://cedarridgewhiskey.com **K12-  See how K12 Powered Schools can help unlock your child's full potential.  Enroll online today at http://K12.com/confused  **. Speed is the wrong goal for fat loss over 40. You'll lose more weight (and body fat) by picking a rate you can sustain for months. Most people pick the biggest calorie deficit they can stand, then quit by week five, regain the weight, and have to re-lose the same pounds next year.I'm breaking down the real reason aggressive cuts fall apart and the one rule I use to set the rate of weight loss. You'll also hear why the head-to-head research says faster wins, what happened when researchers put postmenopausal women on a severe deficit, and the 3-question gut check that tells you if you're cutting too hard. Hit play if you want to lose the fat and keep the muscle without starting over every January.Enroll in Eat More Lift Heavy, the 26-week coached program where adults over 40 build the nutrition and training skills to preserve muscle, lose fat, and manage their physique for life.Wits & Weights is the evidence-based podcast for strength training over 40, body recomposition, fat loss over 40, metabolism recovery, and healthy aging. This episode is about people over technology… …and the role technology should play in a generous workplace culture. I want you to understand that technology should help people become better, not make them feel replaceable. If a tool weakens trust, ownership, or human value, then it's not serving the culture the way it should. I also talk about the fear people feel around technology, especially AI. Some people rush to use it because they feel pressure, and others fear it will replace them. My point is that the best use of technology is not just efficiency or output. It is human improvement, because better people always create a better company. *Enroll in the "Feeling Generous" Email course

What if you've been surviving your life instead of actually living it, and you didn't even know it? ✨ Enrollment for the Ziva Experience is officially open. Meditation to dissolve stress at the root, embodied manifesting to turn emotion into fuel, and a community built to hold you through all of it. Join us now → experience.zivameditation.com In this episode, Emily Fletcher sits down with Tammy Lewis, a business owner, mother of two, and now a Ziva Guide, to trace what changed between the version of her quietly holding everything together and the version of her now manifesting a cross-country move, a new school, and an entirely different marriage, with speed and ease. Before Ziva, nothing was broken, but everything was heavy: she was managing everyone else's emotions while hers sat at the bottom of the list. "It was getting by," she says. "I was surviving my life instead of actually living it." She found Ziva in 2021, and between being consistent with her daily Ziva Meditation practice, two pilgrimages, and years of practicing Ziva Magic's embodied manifesting formula, she learned to tell a thought that's “of her” from guidance that moves “through her.” Now her emotional lows resolve in minutes instead of days, manifestations show up almost daily, and she sums up her reality in one line: "Honestly, everything feels like magic." In this episode, they explore: The “before” picture: a good, full, busy life that was still a constant clench in the body — holding, managing, getting by The internal tool of asking what's “of me” versus what's “through me” during meditation, and how it sharpened her guidance How clearing childhood-level stuff she didn't know needed clearing kept expanding her capacity to receive Manifesting a cross-country move, a new school, and a mountain home in the same ten days she got clear on what her family truly wanted Her first, reluctant encounter with emotional alchemy at a Costa Rica retreat, and why part of her still resists it today Growing up Catholic and the jolt of first hearing “use your pleasure to pray” Why the Ziva circles, not just the meditation, became the real differentiator — and her new role guiding them Key Moments: 00:00 – Meet Tammy Lewis: the before and after 03:21 – “It's literally all magic”: journaling on Persephone before the call 06:53 – Her most recent evidence of magic: leaving expat life in Panama 09:06 – Turning guidance into action, Michael Jackson-style 10:51 – The tool: what's “of me” and what's “through me” 12:11 – The before picture: who was Tammy pre-Ziva 13:43 – The weight of life as a constant clench in the body 15:19 – Clearing invisible cages she didn't know were there 17:47 – Life now: shorter lows, funnier meetings 20:59 – Her son's word of the year: friendship 23:15 – Describing the meditation: the first practice she's ever craved 25:31 – Embodied manifesting: it's the feeling, not the thing 28:26 – The speed of manifesting and collapsing timelines 31:39 – Her first emotional alchemy experience, reluctantly, in Costa Rica 34:39 – The myth of Persephone and the underworld 38:03 – Pleasure as prayer, and her Catholic upbringing 43:03 – Leading the Ziva circles: community as the real differentiator ✨ The Ziva Experience is open for enrollment. Do they understand my problem? Can they help me create the result I want?”You'll learn why describing your title is not the same as communicating your transformation, how specificity makes you more memorable and referable, and how to turn your expertise into buyer language that makes the right people say, “Finally this is exactly what I've been looking for.”In this episode, you'll learn:Why competing for attention is exhausting and unnecessaryWhat premium clients are actually looking for before they investWhy “I'm a coach,” “I'm a strategist,” or “I'm a consultant” is not enough to create demandThe difference between proving your value and clearly communicating itHow specific messaging creates trust, recognition, referrals, and sales conversationsA simple way to explain what you do so people understand why it mattersWhy the right message helps ideal clients self-select into your worldYour expertise is valuable. He named his AI, "Skippy". He gave it access to his iMessages, his emails, every conversation he has. And he says it's the smartest thing he's ever done. Every time Peter Diamandis comes on this show, downloads go through the roof. There's a reason for that. He doesn't just talk about the future. He's building it. Peter brings something to this conversation that almost no one else on earth can: a front-row seat to where the world is actually going, backed by 28 companies, decades of relationships with Elon Musk, Larry Page, Eric Schmidt, and the architects of AI, and the kind of credibility that only comes from being right about the future over and over again. In this conversation, Peter lays out his clearest vision yet of the next decade: ambient AI that knows your schedule before you do, a billion humanoid robots on the streets within ten years, the reversal of aging becoming a clinical reality, and the democratization of health care that will save more lives than any drug ever has. He also doesn't soften the turbulence that comes first, a 2-to-8-year window of real social and economic disruption that most people are completely unprepared for. I push him on the things people are afraid to ask: whether privacy is actually already gone, whether a solopreneur with AI can become a billionaire, and what the difference is between passion and purpose. Here's what you'll gain from this episode: •The 6-Year Storm: Peter's honest prediction for the turbulence ahead, who gets hit hardest, and the one mindset shift that determines whether you come out the other side as a creator or a consumer. •Aging Is About to Become Optional: What longevity escape velocity actually means and how AI could double the human lifespan within ten years. •Passion vs. Purpose: The distinction between passion & purpose, and why getting this wrong is the most expensive mistake a person can make right now. •Privacy Is Already Gone: Peter's most controversial take, why he named his own AI "Skippy" and gave it access to everything, and why the trade-off is about to become the most obvious decision most people have ever made. •The Terminator Future vs. the Star Trek Future: How Hollywood has been programming us for the wrong outcomes with AI, and negatively impacting the future of civilization Stop what you are doing and go watch this episode right now. What if one book could change the way you tell stories, connect with your audience, or even see your own podcast? In this episode of the School of Podcasting, I asked a simple question: “If you found out someone was a content creator, what book would you recommend?” — and the responses were pure gold. You'll hear from working podcasters, educators, business owners, and storytellers sharing the books that sharpened their craft, grew their communities, and kept them going when numbers and algorithms tried to wear them down. Along the way, I share my own must‑reads and pay tribute to a podcasting legend whose work shaped an entire generation of creators. If you're ready to level up your show — not with more gear, but with better thinking, storytelling, and heart — this is the episode you'll want to queue up next.ParticipantsKim NewloveThe Pharmacist Voice PodcastThe Perrysburg PodcastRalph Estep Jr.The Content Creators Accountanthttps://ralphestepjr.comChris NessiHouse of EdTechMark LawleyPractical Prepping PodcastNancy May (with co‑host Sylvia France)Family Tree Food Stories PodcastDave CohenThe Shakespeare MindsetTom HaleyBluegrass Region Voices and ViewsBooks MentionedFind Your Red Thread: Make Your Big Ideas - Tamsen WebsterThe Audience Is Listening: A Little Guide to Building a Big Podcast – Tom WebsterHow to Win Friends and Influence People - Dale CarnegieSacred Cows Make the Best Burgers – Robert J. AI can give you an answer. But it can't be genuinely curious about you.In this episode, I'm joined by our lead speaking coach, Diane Diaz, to explore why curiosity is essential for developing a compelling thought leadership message and signature talk, especially in an age when AI can quickly produce polished but often predictable content.Diane shares a powerful analogy about browsing library stacks: You may begin by looking for one book, only to discover an unexpected idea on the shelf beside it. That kind of exploration and serendipity is often where your most original insights come from.We also talk about why being too close to your expertise can make it difficult to recognize what is most interesting about your ideas and experiences - and why the right questions from another human can uncover connections and stories you would never find through a fill-in-the-blank formula.Diane and I discuss:How relying too heavily on AI can weaken our curiosityWhy constraints can help you create a stronger talk more quicklyThe questions that uncover your most compelling ideas and storiesWhy your curiosity about your audience matters as much as your expertiseHow curiosity contributes to originality, personal connection, and even humorYour audience doesn't need more information. They want a reason to become curious about your idea and about you.About Us: The Speaking Your Brand podcast is hosted by Carol Cox. Where Did My Money Go? 7 Simple Money Habits to Get Ahead Have you ever looked at your bank account and asked, "Where did all my money go?" You earned money. You paid your bills. You bought food, gas, and the things your family needed. But by the end of the month, there was little or nothing left. This is not always an income problem. Sometimes, the real problem is what happens to your money after you earn it. In this episode of The Practical Wealth Show, Curtis May explains seven simple money habits that can help you gain more control over your financial life. These habits can help you save more, reduce debt, prepare for emergencies, and protect the people you care about. What You Will Learn In this episode, Curtis explains: Why you should pay yourself before paying everyone else How to give every dollar a job Why you should not spend every raise How to begin building a cash reserve Why paying off debt should not leave you without savings How insurance and legal documents protect your family Why learning new skills can increase your income How one small financial action can create lasting change The Seven Money Habits 1. Pay Yourself First Do not wait to see what is left at the end of the month. Save a portion of your income as soon as you are paid. Start with an amount you can handle, even if it is only 5%. Over time, work toward saving 15% to 20% of your income. 2. Give Every Dollar a Job Decide where your money will go before you spend it. A cash-flow plan helps you prepare for housing, food, transportation, insurance, debt, savings, family needs, and fun. You should tell your money where to go instead of wondering where it went. 3. Do Not Spend Every Raise When your income increases, avoid turning the entire raise into new monthly bills. Consider saving half of every raise and using the other half to improve your life. This allows you to enjoy today while also preparing for tomorrow. 4. Build a Cash Reserve Unexpected expenses are part of life. Start by saving $500 or $1,000. Continue building until you have enough money to cover six to twelve months of your main expenses. The purpose of this money is to provide safety, access, choices, and control. 5. Stop Using Debt to Fund Your Lifestyle Debt allows you to buy something today using money you hope to earn tomorrow. Make a list of your debts, balances, payments, interest rates, and payoff dates. Then create a plan to reduce your debt while continuing to build savings. The goal is not to become debt-free and broke. The goal is to have less debt, more savings, fewer payments, and greater control. 6. Protect What You Have A strong financial plan must include protection. Review your life insurance, health insurance, disability coverage, property insurance, liability protection, will, power of attorney, and account beneficiaries. These tools create a fence around your money and your family. 7. Increase Your Ability to Earn You can only reduce spending so far. Learning new skills can help you solve more problems, create more value, and earn more income. Your greatest financial asset may not be your home or retirement account. It may be your ability to work, learn, lead, solve problems, and generate income. Your Next Step You do not need to change everything at once. Choose one action: Save 5% of your next paycheck Review last month's spending Cancel one unused subscription Make a complete list of your debts Add $50 or $100 to your cash reserve Review your insurance coverage Enroll in a class that can improve your skills Small steps can create big changes when they are repeated consistently. I want to talk about the shift that happens when someone moves from being rewarded for being right to being trusted to lead. That is a real transition, and it changes the way you use your strengths, your communication, and your judgment. The goal is not to become less capable. The goal is to become more useful to the people around you. A lot of high performers get promoted because they know the answer, move quickly, and stay precise. But leadership asks for something different. In leadership, generosity shows up when you use your knowledge to help people grow, make decisions, and move forward with confidence. *Enroll in the "Feeling Generous" Email course

What would you ask if your uncle was Bernie Madoff? My guest actually sat across from him in prison and the conversation changed the course of her life forever. When I found out that today's guest, Jess Ekstrom, is Bernie Madoff's great niece, I knew we had to start there. Her family didn't just watch one of the biggest financial scandals in history unfold on television. They lived it. They lost nearly everything. Years later, Jess made the decision to visit Bernie Madoff in prison, searching for answers that most people would never have the courage to ask. What he confessed to her during that visit was shocking. He told her that his downfall didn't begin with money or investing. It began as a lonely child trying to buy friendship and approval. That conversation became the foundation for everything Jess teaches today about success, validation, and living a meaningful life. But this episode is about so much more than Bernie Madoff. Jess went on to build an incredible business, sell it for millions, and accomplish goals most entrepreneurs spend a lifetime chasing. Yet after reaching everything she thought would finally make her happy, she realized something almost all high achievers eventually discover. Achievement alone cannot give you fulfillment. We unpack the dangerous "arrival trap" that keeps so many people believing happiness is always waiting on the other side of the next accomplishment. We also dive into the stories we tell ourselves that quietly shape our entire lives. Jess shares how one childhood moment convinced her she wasn't good with numbers, even though she eventually built multiple successful companies. We talk about comparison versus inspiration, why your greatest limitations often begin with a single belief, and how changing your story can completely change your future. This conversation is filled with practical wisdom for anyone who wants to pursue big dreams without sacrificing joy along the way. One of my favorite moments is when Jess shares her incredible framework of becoming a lighthouse instead of a spotlight. That lesson alone is worth listening to this episode. Whether you're building a business, leading a team, raising a family, or simply trying to become the best version of yourself, this conversation will challenge you to stop chasing validation and start building a life rooted in purpose. Key Takeaways: The shocking lesson Jess learned from visiting Bernie Madoff in prison Why the need for approval can quietly shape the direction of your entire life How to avoid the "arrival trap" that keeps high achievers chasing fulfillment The difference between comparison and inspiration and why it changes everything How changing one limiting story can transform your future Why becoming a lighthouse instead of a spotlight will make you a better leader and communicator If you've ever wondered why success doesn't always bring happiness, or you've been chasing a future that never seems to arrive, this conversation will completely change the way you think about ambition, fulfillment, and the life you're building. Confession time. I was the kid with the "I am me, I'm ok" poster taped up in my room. I was desperate to feel confident and ok, and yeah, it's embarrassing, but it helped. My mom, who was a lot like Stuart Smalley (if you remember that SNL skit, the guy who looks in the mirror and reminds himself he's good enough, smart enough, and gosh darn it, worthy), encouraged me to hang it up after a devastating seventh grade experience. My own personal Mean Girls encounter. I had just started at a new junior high, and it felt like every rule of friendship and belonging got flipped upside down overnight. Everyone I was friends with landed on the red team. I got placed on purple. I was shocked by how brutal girls I once called my besties could be. And while I found new friends eventually, something else took root first. A belief that I needed to change. That I needed to fix myself. That belief followed me for years. It played out in my first marriage, until I had a shocking awareness and awakening. There was never anything wrong with me. There was only the belief that I wasn't cool enough, smart enough, pretty enough, whatever word fits for you. This week's episode is all about that exact fallacy, the idea that you need to fix yourself.  My guest Leonard Jacobson has had nine awakenings, and what he shares about presence and the truth of who you are is something I wish my 13 year old self could've heard..  I hope this one helps you remember there's nothing in you to fix. Ever. Friend, you are good enough, smart enough, and worthy of everything you desire. You always were. Period. Bio Leonard Jacobson is an internationally recognized spiritual teacher, author, and founder of the Conscious Living Foundation. For more than four decades, he has taught a practical path of awakening based on Presence, self-awareness, and conscious living. Since his first awakening in 1981, Leonard has shared his teachings with thousands of people around the world through retreats, workshops, books, and online programs. He is the author of seven books, including Words from Silence, Embracing the Present, Bridging Heaven & Earth, Liberating Jesus, Life Beyond the Ego, and In Seach of the Light, a children's picture book. His books have been translated into numerous languages.   Key Topics Leonard Jacobson's awakening journey The nature of God and oneness Practices for awakening and presence The role of the ego in spiritual growth Revealing the truth about Jesus and Christ consciousness The importance of responsibility and self-awareness in awakening   About Leonard Jacobson Leonard Jacobson is an internationally recognized spiritual teacher, author, and founder of the Conscious Living Foundation. We're always fans of a good show-and-tell, and John definitely delivered. Of course, we couldn't resist throwing some of our signature hypothetical questions his way—including one about hockey. We also dive into Dan Patrick's legendary confidence in his own athletic abilities. Tim, John, and Dan spent many years together at ESPN, so there are plenty of great stories and laughs along the way. And then there's Bucket of Chicken Night. Lately, my kids have been watching a lot of TV. More than I'd like to admit. And for a while, I let myself spiral about it. What kind of mom lets her kids zone out on screens all day? What is that doing to them? But then I caught myself, because I've learned that there's a difference between self-confronting and shame-spiraling. And, once I stopped the shame-spiral, I reminded myself that our family is going through a hard time right now, and if some extra screens are going to support us through it, that's not the end of the world. What our home needs most right now is compassion. My kids need an extra dose of compassion, and so do I. That's what gets us through hard times. This week's episode is a recording from a small group coaching call I did back in 2019, with about twenty women who were in the thick of hard seasons with their kids. We talk about how to support your kids through struggles, and how you can support yourself, too. In this episode, you'll hear:

If people leave your talk thinking, “She really knows her stuff,” that feels good. But it doesn't necessarily make you memorable, referable, or bookable. In this fourth and final episode of my Expert Trap series, I'm looking at three things you may be saying yes to (more content, neutrality, and the wrong room) and the identity questions underneath each one. I've done all three, and I still have to watch for them in my own presentations. You'll hear why your audience doesn't need everything you know, how a clear point of view helps your ideas travel, and how to choose speaking opportunities that make your thought leadership stronger instead of more generic. I'll also give you one practical exercise you can use right away: replacing one proof sentence with one belief sentence. In this episode, you'll learn:How too much content can become a way to prove you belongWhy staying neutral can make your message harder to rememberHow to know when a speaking opportunity is the wrong roomThe identity shift from expert to thought leaderWhy expertise builds trust, but your point of view makes you referable and bookableThe difference between a proof sentence and a belief sentenceAbout Us: The Speaking Your Brand podcast is hosted by Carol Cox. Has years of dieting on and off damaged your metabolism? It that why fat loss feels so hard now? This is one of the most common fears I hear, and the short answer is almost certainly... no. So what is going on?Most of what feels like a broken metabolism is one of two things: either the normal discomfort of a deficit or the way your appetite pushes back as you lose fat, preventing a consistent deficit (where you feel like you're dieting but can never lose weight). If you look at weight loss studies, those reporting the most hunger and the strongest cravings tend to lose the least, implying that too much hunger isn't by definition "necessary" for a successful deficit.Learn about metabolic adaptation in a moderate diet, the "four-week wall" when most people quit a fat loss phase, and the difference between the discomfort you should "ride out" and red flags where you should take a break or change something about the diet (like the speed/aggressiveness).The people who finish are the ones who lose the fat!Enroll in Eat More Lift Heavy, the 26-week coached program where adults over 40 build the nutrition and training skills to preserve muscle, lose fat, and manage their physique for life.Wits & Weights is the evidence-based podcast for strength training over 40, fat loss over 40, metabolism recovery, body recomposition, and healthy aging. Grief has been close to my family lately, and in the weeks since losing my brother-in-law Logan, I've found myself returning again and again to the memories that hold the people we love, long after they're no longer here. This July 14th marks twenty-three years since my mother passed away from breast cancer. I was nineteen years old. And this episode (one of the most personal I've ever recorded) is my tribute to her. My mom had a gift for seeing strengths in her children before they could see them in themselves — and for my mom, helping me find my voice, quite literally, was one of the most loving things she ever did for me. This episode is a musical tribute because music is where she first showed me who I was. In it, you'll hear about
