What is it like to spend a semester abroad in Belfast? In this episode we meet with visiting student, Pria Sharma from Belmont University in Nashville, USA. Pria tells us about her experience of education abroad and key differences between studying at home and away.

Getting a degree abroad is a life changing experience and who better to speak to this than a recent graduate? In this episode we meet with Natalie Metz, a USA graduate of QUB who decided to stay in Belfast after her studies. Natalie is from Connecticut and is also a graduate of Boston College.

The Truman Scholarship is one of the most competitive national fellowships in the United States and is known as a beacon for public service. In this episode we meet with QUB's current Truman scholar, Val Weisler.

We meet with Beatrice Dain, QUB Fulbright Scholar 2021-2022. Beatrice studies on the MA Global Security and Borders programme - a unique Masters taught at Queen's. We hear about her journey into the field and experience of applying for nationally competitive scholarships.

Meet with Prof Kurt Taroff and Dr Jocelyn Dautel, both academics at QUB and both from the USA. They tell us about the differences between Higher Education in the USA and institutions across the UK & Ireland.

More and more American students are applying to college outside of the USA. For some, this is about finding an affordable degree abroad. For others, it is about adventure and exploring a new people and places. Whatever the motivations, there are some common hurdles students encounter when applying to study outside the US, from the admissions process to assessment methods.
