Reizi gadā upē to izmazgāja.

No ozola agrāk daudz darināja audumu. To izmazgā, izsukā un iegūst skaistu vilnu. No baltozola taisīja siltus zirga deķus. Kārtainos vainagus taisīja no ozola vilnas. To pina kārtām. Gan audumu, gan ēdienu – to visu mūsu senčiem nodrošināja ozols.

This week on Anxiety Slayer, we are thrilled to share a new conversation with Dr. Dain Heer. Dain is the co-creator of Access Consciousness. Shann and Dain discuss the anxiety and fragmentation that so many of us experience and how these ungrounded energies hide our miraculousness. We talk about how easy it is to identify with anxiety, with contraction, or with the pain we carry in our bodies. And did you know that our limitations are often a protective shell, hiding the miracle that we are? Learn practices and powerful questions to open up more choice and freedom, like: “What am I pretending not to be, that if I were, would set me free?” Just sitting with this invitation/question creates more space around anxiety and self-judgment. If you're feeling caught in a loop of anxiety, you're not alone. The first step to changing your experience isn't about fixing yourself, but allowing yourself to expand beyond old definitions, even if it feels unfamiliar. There is so much more to you than anxiety, panic, or any label you carry. You are a miracle! Join Dr. Dain and Access Consciousness facilitators and students around the globe on June 22nd for Being You Day.

Stāsta koku vilnas meistars Ritvars Točs. Sirmā senatnē mūsu senči to visu darināja no liepas. Šodien pastāstīšu, kā no liepas var uztaisīt audumu. To varētu iemācīt ļoti ātri, jo tur nav nekā sarežģīta. Vaska drānas taisīja speciālos rāmjos no liepas vilnas. Dainās teikts: „No liepiņas pūru daru, no zariņa – villainīti.” No resnā kluča uztaisīja lādi, bet no zaru vilnas to pielocīja pilnu ar audumiem. Tāpat no liepas var darināt lielus paklājus, vainagus, no liepas mizas sievas taisīja brunčus – „Krijas deķi mugurā.”

Founded by Portland natives Dainéal Parker (vocals, guitars) and Daniel Alden (bass), the group found revelation with the inclusion of their drummer, Josh Harris. Drawing inspiration from iconic bands like The Cure, Hum, The Smashing Pumpkins, Explosions In The Sky, and Deftones, the group embarked on a creative journey during the pandemic, molding a distinct sonic identity that has marked them out as the next new act to watch. Whether trying to nail down their sound or find another group as hardworking as them, the band stands alone as their namesake would against a barren backdrop. And, of course, the East LA outfit doesn't fit in with the pomp and bluster of the Hollywood rock scene, unconcerned as they are with clout, glory, or grandeur. The quartet (with guitarist Ben Palmer squaring the circle) combines the grit of East LA with the sublime wildness of the Pacific Northwest – a group that is at once solitary, capable, dangerous, and self-assured The band spent the pandemic crafting and honing their sound to a polish during the years of lockdowns and unrest the pandemic brought. What that is, or what to call it, is, again, not easy. “Grunge Renaissance”? “Post-Alt Rock?” Trying to classify them according to genre might earn the vague moniker of “alt-rock” or as far afield as “post-rock.” Instead, their sound might be best captured by Parker's vision for his lyrics. “I've always been fascinated with scale, majesty, immensity,” he muses. “I imagine my own death would ideally either being lost at sea or in the forest.” Look no further than the band's name for a prime example: “Lone Kodiak” evokes the grand intimacy of a powerful animal lumbering through a vast, unforgiving wilderness. On an endless landscape, one can't help but feel like everything is infinitely far away, and yet feels close enough to touch, looming distantly right in front of our eyes.
