'Queer I Am, Lord' is an interview-based show hosted by openly gay Catholic Xorje Olivares of HeyXorje.com. Each week, Xorje will speak to fellow queer Christians about their spiritual journeys and ties to the religion, their attitudes towards the Church and its exclusionary policies, and their desires to either reform the institution from within or walk away once and for all. Because Lord knows it's not easy to be an LGBTQ person of faith today. But as Christian tradition teaches us: when two or more are gathered in God's name, God is present.
Xorje chats with his close friend Alden Golab about their gender journey, living in the "weirdness" of being queer, and surrendering to the fact that God is beyond what anyone understands.
Xorje chats with ancient history doctoral student Pedro Nogues about being born into Catholicism, not knowing "any other way" to live spiritually, and deciphering God's words.
Xorje chats with Austin Vigue about being "happily Catholic," having tough conversations with political & cultural opponents, and the thrill of engaging in paranormal investigation.
Xorje chats with former Catholic Ben Steffy about leaving the Church, questioning the existence of a benevolent God, and realizing that it's OK to not know the answer to life.
Xorje chats with Latinx medical student Joseph Rojo about crafting the version of Catholicism that works best for him and truly becoming comfortable with all parts of his story.
Xorje chats with linguist Elizabeth Sullivan about becoming fluent in both her Catholicism & queerness and understanding the semantics of God.
Xorje chats with cantor and teacher Kyle Garcia about happily bringing his authentic self to his students and building his family on a strong foundation of faith.
Xorje chats with fellow queer Catholic Justin Dodd about his travel ministry, discovering the presence of God in a multitude of locations & centering himself in political activism.
Xorje chats with NYC-based comedian Veronica Garza about jokingly being more religious than her parents and one day becoming an out lesbian nun.
Xorje chats with Larry Holodak about fully accepting his queerness later in life and ultimately realizing the power associated with forgiving yourself and the Church.
Xorje chats with trans poet Eve Petrie about "purposefully" entering religious spaces as their authentic self and happening upon their Biblical name.
Xorje chats with Blake Johnson about his decision to leave the Black Pentecostal Church and find a home amongst Catholics, even as he struggles to find community.
Xorje chats with Yale Law student Jacqui Oesterblad about the winding spiritual road that led her to a very keen observation: she doesn't need words to describe herself to God.
Xorje chats with illustrator Ryan McQuade about being continuously awestruck by the mysteries of God and using Catholicism for his artistic expression.
Xorje chats with Gabi Horton about confronting her vulnerabilities as a closeted Catholic school student and eventually giving way to God's time.
Xorje chats with religious convert Grant Hartley ahead of his formal welcome into the Catholic Church at this weekend's Easter festivities.
Xorje chats with C, a graduate theology student and church employee, about the difficulties of shielding her true identity from colleagues while still accepting the fact that she's "intrinsically ordered" in God's eyes.
Xorje chats with Patrick Flores of the online LGBTQ Catholic community Vine & Fig about his spiritual exploration (which included roles as a former seminarian, former theology teacher, and former religious brother) and making the choice to not argue with the Church.
Xorje chats with "queer Tejanita" Krysta Ortiz about her foundational relationship with the Church, translating LGBTQ identity through a generational and cultural lens, and refusing to believe in purgatory.
A brand new interview-based show about the queer Catholic experience that proves God is, in fact, present whenever two or more gather together in God's name.
