Today's show continues to examine the terrible (and preventable) tragedy that is the wild fires in Los Angeles and LA County. Governor Gavin Newsome demonstrates all that has gone wrong with the Left – they want control and power over everyone and everything, but when things go wrong, they take no responsibility. Mayor Karen Bass is not only cut from the same cloth, her back story is even worse! Before we get to who Karen Bass really is, we jump over to CNN to once again champion the bravery of Scott Jennings for putting himself through what has to be one torturous evening after another, doing battle with paid operatives of the Left. While host Abby Phillip does nothing but regurgitate Democrat narratives, guest Representative Dusty Johnson (R-SD) is left to not only provide truth, but also correct Phillip's blind loyalty to her party. Back to Mayor Karen Bass. To understand her, we first have to remind you about the all-female domestic terrorist group M19 and their bombing of the US Capitol on November 7, 1983. This leads us to the Communist group, Venceremos Brigade. Then, we tie it all together with Karen Bass, who was a leader of that Brigade and was responsible for mentoring M19. And now, she is the Mayor of LA. Actress Patricia Heaton shared her thoughts, echoing what I've been saying here on the show. I follow that up with comments from actor Zachary Levi who also sees the situation the same. Then, to tie it all together, we turn to Michael Shellenberger who tells us not to believe the leadership of California when they want to blame everyone else but themselves. We close with Donald Trump talking to reporters about the self-inflicted problems in the state of California and a comment from Katie Hopkins from the UK about Donald Trump. Let us truly hope we are in the midst of a massive political upheaval that will change the course of this nation and the free world. Hope and faith are different. Hope is what we use to set the goals in our lives. Faith enables the bringing of those goals to fruition. As we face a new administration, there is reason for hope.
Jacob Willebeek-LaMair, director of Christian Challenge, explores the vital connection between reflection and growth as we transition from 2024 to 2025. Through personal anecdotes about family challenges, unexpected car troubles, and ministry uncertainties, he illustrates how looking back isn't just about remembering—it's about understanding God's work in our lives. Jacob explains that reflection serves three key purposes: preventing repeated mistakes, cultivating gratitude, and becoming more Christ-like. He emphasizes that true hope isn't found in perfect circumstances but in our response to life's challenges, drawing wisdom from Hebrews 12:1-3. You'll find practical guidance for meaningful reflection, including documenting celebrations and challenges from the past year. Rather than merely thinking positively, Jacob encourages listeners to focus on eternal truths while acknowledging current realities. He concludes by offering actionable steps for growth, emphasizing that transformation happens through intentional planning and consistent small steps forward.
On this episode Darrell Dee Sullins Jr and Darrell Sr discuss what it looks like to have hope for the future when it comes to doing things for God

Podcast Summary: A Week of Reflection, Growth, and Inspiration In this episode of Mindset Matters, Patrick and Steffany Francey reflect on an eventful week filled with milestones, meaningful connections, and valuable insights. From attending high-profile events to engaging with the next generation of leaders, they explore the lessons learned and how they continue to apply their philosophy of mindset, growth, and resilience. The week started with Patrick speaking at the Institute of Futurization, addressing a sophisticated audience of investors and business leaders. He shared insights into the economy, real estate trends, and the importance of adapting to uncertain times. Steffany highlighted the joy of reconnecting with old friends and the inspiration drawn from the other speakers, including discussions on the future of banking and Central Bank Digital Currencies. A standout experience was their participation in the TEDx Youth event at the University of Waterloo. Organized by an 18-year-old visionary, the event showcased the potential of young leaders under pressure. Both Patrick and Steffany were deeply moved by the dedication, teamwork, and wisdom of the youth, offering hope for the future. They emphasized the importance of supporting and inspiring the next generation, urging listeners to reflect on their roles in empowering young people. The couple also recapped their encounter with a classic “Karen” personality, tying it into a broader discussion on authenticity and how stress reveals true character. Additionally, they shared insights from a talk by Ryan Holiday on Stoicism, underscoring the importance of staying grounded in the present and embracing the unpredictability of life. Finally, Patrick had a revelation about worry and anxiety, inspired by Dr. Joe Dispenza: anxiety about future events makes us victims of circumstances that haven't yet occurred. This insight reinforces the power of mindset and the need to focus on what we can control today. Tune in to this episode for reflections, humor, and a wealth of inspiration to help you navigate life with intention and resilience.

In January of 2019, journalist Elizabeth Rush joined 56 scientists and crew people aboard an ice-breaking research vessel to study the Thwaites glacier in Antarctica. The glacier, which is about the size of the state of Florida, has been nicknamed the “Doomsday Glacier” for the effect its disintegration would likely play in the rise of global sea levels. “If we lose Thwaites, there's great concern that we will lose the entirety or big portions of the West Antarctic ice sheet and that those glaciers combined contain enough ice to raise global sea levels 10 feet or more,” Rush told Dan Richards on this episode of Trending Globally. Rush recounts her voyage aboard the Palmer and how it reshaped her understanding of our changing climate and planet in her 2023 book, “The Quickening: Antarctica, Motherhood and Cultivating Hope in a Warming World.” However, as the title suggests, the book is also about another, more personal journey: Rush's decision to have a child. The resulting book is part adventure travelogue, part mediation on the meaning of motherhood, and part climate change manifesto. It also offers some much-needed wisdom on how to envision a future when it feels like the world is falling apart. Are you living with hope for the future, or are you caught up in the present at the expense of tomorrow?Join us today for the last week of our hopeful and thought-provoking series, Hope[Fully]. Of all the episodes I have been able to record, these episodes with my father stand out as some of my favorites. I never thought I could record conversations about our family history, values, beliefs, and what makes us who we are. I love that they will live forever, far beyond both of us and can hopefully have great meaning to future generations later in their lives. My dad and I talk about politics often, and what better time to sit down and discuss the current environment than right after the 2024 election.
Samuel D. Hunter is the award-winning playwright and screenwriter behind “The Whale.” His latest play, “A Case for the Existence of God,” is about an unlikely friendship between two men who have one thing in common: they're single fathers of young daughters. Samuel was inspired to write the play after he adopted his own daughter and realized that as a parent he no longer had "the luxury of being cynical.” He joins guest host Talia Schlanger to talk about the play, and why he puts so much of himself in his work.

Wake Up & Smell The Freedom with Amanda & Larken Rose 1984 on steroids? Global totalitarianism on the march? Liberty on life support? HORSESHIT. Amanda & Larken Rose return to the Outer Limits of Inner Truth to awaken from your doom-scrolling slumber. While current polls show deep national divisions and widespread dissatisfaction with both presidential candidates, Generation Z and Generation Alpha are charting a different course, one marked by openness to dialogue and a rejection of toxic polarization. Recent research reveals that young Americans are embracing a more balanced, community-focused approach to civic life, believing adults have mishandled political issues. The rising generation's commitment to understanding different perspectives and building meaningful relationships should make all of us optimistic that our America's political landscape can be reshaped for the better.

This week I am so excited to welcome back three-time guest and friend of the show, Hope Woodard! When I first had Hope on Solace and the City, we talked about her experience navigating her relationship with substance use as I began my own journey being alcohol-free. When we next chatted, Hope was about to embark on a year without dating, relationships, hookups, and any other type of involvement with men and the male gaze. Since then, Hope's boy sobriety has been covered by The New York Times, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, and many other outlets who were fascinated with, what seemed to be, modern day celibacy. But in this episode, Hope breaks down what being Boy Sober truly means: a decision to choose yourself. I feel so honored to have guest as my last guest before my move from New York City back to Austin, Texas, where Solace and the City will take a hiatus. To keep up with Hope, you can follow @justhopinalong on Instagram and TikTok. In this episode, Michael and Kathryn discussed the term "VUCA" which stands for Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity. They traced its origin to the Army War College in the early 1990s, where it was used to describe the post-Cold War era. In a business context, the term has gained significant momentum since Covid. Kathryn and Michael explore its implications on the housing industry and the importance of agility and adaptability in navigating such conditions. They also emphasized the need for clear guidance and advice in decision-making, the challenges of setting expectations in a rapidly changing world, and the importance of leading teams forward with a positive outlook. The conversation concluded with a discussion on the importance of balancing hope with reality and the need for leaders to inspire their teams with a positive outlook. Guest: Pastor Jack Graham, Prestonwood Baptist Church If you'd like to watch this podcast, check out the PCA YouTube page. Twenty-seven years ago, Prestonwood was approached about allowing a new private, Christian school to use the Prestonwood name. About three years after PCA was launched, the school was struggling financially and might not have survived if the church hadn't stepped in to support and really adopt the school as their own! Pastor Graham is also releasing a new book on November 5th called The Jesus Story - you can pre-order your copy on Amazon! Pastor Graham also shared some thoughts on the upcoming election and encouraged people to register to vote and vote biblical values at the ballot box! Finally, Pastor Graham shared some thoughts and perspectives about being a grandparent today and how special this opportunity is to live a legacy and pass on one's faith from generation to generation. One great resource as an encouragement to grandparents is the latest book from Robert Wohlgemuth called Gun Lap: Staying in the Race with Purpose. Special shout out to Jared Wood for allowing us to use his music - check him out at JaredWoodMusic!
