How do servant leaders in Lutheran schools model leadership for future church workers? The Rev. Mark Bushuiakovish, pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Nashville, TN, joins Andy and Sarah for our Set Apart to Serve Series to talk about his journey into pastoral ministry, how his faith was formed as a child and through Lutheran schools, the servant leaders who served as models through his years in Lutheran school, his experiences at seminary, and how his congregation forms and encourages both youth and adults to consider full-time church work. Christ's church will continue until He returns, and that church will continue to need church workers. Set Apart to Serve (SAS) is an initiative of the LCMS to recruit church workers. Together, we pray for workers for the Kingdom of God and encourage children to consider church work vocations. Here are three easy ways you can participate in SAS: 1. Pray with your children for God to provide church workers. 2. Talk to your children about becoming church workers. 3. Thank God for the people who work in your congregation. What if the biggest threat to holiness isn't choosing the wrong path—but choosing the easy one?In this message from Hebrews 12, we explore how holiness is more than moral behavior—it's a Spirit-empowered pursuit that demands endurance, intention, and surrender. From the danger of bitterness to the compromise of impulse decisions, Scripture reveals the subtle ways we drift from holiness and how to return.Whether you're wrestling with bitterness, battling temptation, or just feeling spiritually numb, this message invites you to fix your eyes on Jesus and choose perseverance over convenience. Holiness isn't easy, but it's always worth it.

What if the "Golden Rule" we learned in elementary school is actually pointing us toward something much deeper than just being nice? In this powerful message, Ashleigh Jurosic explores Jesus' teaching about the narrow and wide gates, challenging us to move beyond outward performance to true heart transformation. Drawing from her own struggles with people-pleasing and the desire for reciprocated love, Ashleigh unpacks how accepting God's unconditional love first becomes the overflow that transforms how we love others. Whether you're tired of carrying the heavy bag of expectations or ready to trade performance for authentic relationship with Jesus, this message offers a path forward. Discover why the narrow gate isn't about doing more, but about letting God's love transform you from the inside out.Bible Verse References:Matthew 7:12-14 (main passage) - The Golden Rule and the Narrow GateMatthew 22:37-40 - The Greatest Commandment (Love God, Love Others)Matthew 19:16-26 - The Rich Young RulerJohn 15:5-8 - Remaining in the VinePsalm 15 - Who May Dwell in God's SanctuaryPsalm 139:23-24 - Search Me, O God

How is church worker formation cemented as culture in the church? The Rev. Dr. Mike Von Behren (President of the LCMS Northwest District and Regent at Concordia University Irvine) and the Rev. Dr. Bill Harmon (President of the LCMS Southeastern District and Assistant Pastor of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Williamsburg, VA) join Andy for our Set Apart to Serve series to talk about their journeys to becoming pastors and then District Presidents, their chief duties as a District President, what each of their districts are doing to form and recruit church workers and why this work is so important to each of them, and what they think will cement church worker formation and recruitment into the culture of our LCMS congregations, schools, districts, and entities. Christ's church will continue until He returns, and that church will continue to need church workers. Set Apart to Serve (SAS) is an initiative of the LCMS to recruit church workers. A message on the fact we are called by God, as his priests, to be set apart.
In a world obsessed with proving worth and chasing success, what if the reason we're exhausted isn't just because life is hard—but because we're trying to be someone God never asked us to be? What if we could live in acceptance? In this message from Set Apart, we explore 1 Corinthians 1 and the radical truth that God chooses what the world calls weak, foolish, and unimpressive to reveal His glory. You don't have to hustle to be holy. Real identity, belonging, and significance aren't achieved—they're received in Christ.
What does it really mean to be holy? In this message from Galatians 5, we explore how the Christian life is not about rule-keeping or rule-breaking—but about walking in step with the Spirit. Paul warns against two distortions of holiness: legalism (trying to earn God's favor) and license (abusing grace to justify sin). Both miss the point. True holiness isn't about perfection—it's about transformation through the power of the Holy Spirit.

In a grand display of irony, Saul of Tarsus came to faith in Christ on his way to persecute believers in Christ. God intervened in a miraculous way, striking Saul blind and giving him vision in the process. And what a vision it was. Today, Ron takes us to the Apostle Paul's first missionary journey, as he moves ahead in his teaching series, “Paul: Surprised by Grace.”
What does it take to establish a strong foundation for church work formation and recruitment in the culture of our congregations, schools, and the larger church body? The Rev. Dr. Lucas Woodford (President of the LCMS Minnesota South District, Regent at Concordia University St. Paul, and Associate Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Farmington, MN) and the Rev. David Nehrenz (President of the LCMS Oklahoma District and Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, OK) join Andy and Sarah to talk about their paths to becoming a pastor and district president, how each of their districts is forming and recruiting church workers, why a mindset for formation and recruitment is important, why collaboration on growing a culture of church work formation across the LCMS is important, why it's particularly crucial to have the support and collaboration of schools in this culture, and the benefits each has seen so far from these collaborative efforts in Set Apart to Serve in their districts and across Synod. Pride Month is evil, and we must call it what it is. In this episode, we're discussing the spiritual implications of Pride Month, asking hard questions about what it represents—and how believers should respond. We're drawing the connection between pride, identity, and rebellion against God's design for human flourishing. Many Christians feel spiritually drained during this month, and we should. I'm challenging my listeners to love the LGBTQ+ community not with silence or compromise (and certainly not with support) but with truth—the truth that God offers forgiveness, transformation, and eternal life to all who repent and follow Christ. We must hate sin while praying for our enemies. Our culture desperately needs more holiness, conviction, and compassion rooted in the gospel, which is telling those around us the truth.—https://www.thebrandsunday.com/products/the-bible-study-physical?srsltid=AfmBOoqBR_MWE2-fkYXYHCn80nZtEct4ixmRGrXZSrgIn5HP_tBc9Mcy

Summary In this sermon, Dr. Michael Easley delves into the profound themes of the Book of Romans, unpacking Paul's identity as an apostle, the power and purpose of the gospel, and the righteousness of God. He highlights the historical influence of Romans on figures like Augustine and Luther, underscores the universal call to faith, and encourages believers to embrace their identity in Christ as beloved saints. Practical insights are offered to help listeners apply Paul's teachings to their daily lives. Takeaways Understanding righteousness is key to understanding the gospel. The gospel is about God's promises and His Son, Jesus Christ. Paul's identity as a bondservant reflects his humility and authority. The call to apostleship was a divine appointment by God. Believers are called saints, set apart for God's purpose. Saving faith involves a response to the gospel message. To read the book of Romans, click here. Click here for other Michael Easley Sermons.

Drawing from Colossians, Psalms, and Luke, she reminds us that “the mouth speaks what the heart is full of” and nothing shuts down relationships or opportunity faster than a foolish mouth. What does it really mean to live in community, and how do we do it well in a divided world? Beth opens this series in Colossians 4 by addressing the deep ache we all carry: the need to belong.
