A podcast where two women rewatch, relive, and react to nostalgic movies from the 2000s and more while drinking wine (and other things). Join us as we take you back to low rise jeans, chunky highlights and problematic slang.
This is decidedly not what a girl wants or needs but here it is. The most boring Amanda Bynes film in existence, Rene and Vicki do their best to explain this film so you don't have to watch it. Father/daughter relationship that seems more like lovers, fancy British fashion and a lot of questions. If this is your favorite 2000's movie, we're really very sorry. Drink every time Rene says um or Vicki sings!
Ready? Ok! Bring It On is such a classic film, we were so excited to rewatch. Cheer mixes and crazy hairstyles should be brought back along with making mixtapes for your crush. Enjoy Vicki's singing and Rene's movie quotes. Dust off those pom poms and uniforms and relive this slightly problematic movie with us!
Please forgive us for the sound quality in this episode! We will be adjusting for future episodes! We don't remember much about this movie and it's pretty clear why. Maybe not the best teen film of our time but definitely a classic. We see a lot of familiar faces that we've already seen in other episodes, take a drink every time we look up someone's filmography. Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Fleetwood Mac are on the karaoke machine. Enjoy!
The first action movie in Rewines history, this classic had mixed reviews from the gals. One of Rene's old favorites and a one and done for Vicki, the sex appeal definitely outweighs the badassery but there is a lot of both! Hear about airplane nightmares and amusement park rides for twenty minutes. Click our linktree in the bio of our Instagram for resources and places to donate for abortion rights.
TW: some minor talk of deathArguably the best retelling of one of the most classic tales, Hilary Duff stars as "Cinderella" Sam Montgomery. Her prince charming, 2000s star Chad Michael Murray, along with other iconic actors make this movie the fantastic piece of art that is. Hear Rene's terrible Jennifer Coolidge impression and take a drink every time Vicki says SAM!
This "gender-bending comedy" actually holds up. Apparently based off of a Shakespeare play, She's The Man is a movie about a girl pretending to be her brother so she can play soccer. Channing Tatum alone is enough to rewatch one of Amanda Bynes' best roles (minus the terrible boy voice).
Our first DCOM, but not our last, Smart House is a wild ride. A house that is completely voice activated as imagined by writers in 1999, things don't exactly go as planned. With state of the art graphics and a storyline that is borderline terrifying, we give this movie mixed reviews. New rule: take a drink every time Vicki sings! Listen all the way to the end for a blooper reel!
This is what dreams are made of! One of Vicki and Rene's favorite movies, Lizzie McGuire is everything. From the fact that they're supposed to be 8th graders to the horrible CGI and plot holes, this movie never gets old. Listen to Vicki's rendition of every song in the movie (and then some)!
This episode transports the gals back to a simpler time of dramatic crushes and makeovers. In this movie based on peer pressure, two groups of girls run all over town to complete a scavenger hunt in which the winner gets the cool kid lunch spot. Vicki and Rene tell tales of their teenage years and try to look passed all the plot holes.
Everyone knows the classic story, but this is the only one involving Whitney Houston and Whoopi Goldberg. Not to mention pop legend Brandy, iconic eyebrows and costumes fit for a Broadway stage. Learn what makes Rene flood her basement and enjoy Vicki's karaoke rendition of multiple songs (some that aren't even in this film). Listen to the end for some bloopers!
This time, Rene and Vicki rewatch the superhero film that started them all (kinda), Sky High! In this fun, action-packed movie, we follow high schoolers who have superpowers as they navigate their new found "Hero" or "Hero Support" status. Along with great fashion from the 2000's, we get a stellar soundtrack and a plot twist for the ages. PS This is the first episode recorded in the same room, please bare with as we make adjustments :)
It's been a minute! But we're back and ready to bring you more nostalgic 2000's content. Stay tuned for more episodes and follow us on Instagram and TikTok at rewinespod and subscribe wherever you listen!
Who knew this wasn't a comedy film? Rene and Vicki recount all the body shaming, workplace toxicity and shitty boyfriends. Meryl being a bad bitch and Stanley Tucci being a gay icon is the saving grace of this movie.
In this episode, Vicki and Rene rewatch John Tucker Must Die. A lot of A+ celebrity sightings but a C- storyline. When a group of unlikely friends team up to take down the school player, a lot of problematic shit ensues. But don't worry, there's definitely a moral to the story...or is there?
Ever dreamed of being royalty? In Princess Diaries, that dream comes true. One of Vicki and Rene's favorites, they talk about Mia's not-so-shocking transformation, Lily's serious need of an attitude adjustment and the cuteness of Michael. You won't want to miss their rendition of Catch A Falling Star.
This episode is so fetch! The gals relive Mean Girls in all of its problematic glory. Still a classic, they discuss all the things that are wrong with this film. Rene reveals a middle school secret and Vicki shares an old anti-bullying ad featuring a gay icon. Get in loser, we're listening to Rewines!
It's the last movie in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part Two. The CGI baby is the main topic but we can't forget about Vampire Bella and Jacob's borderline predatory behavior. The end of an era that doesn't have the best ending. It's been a wild ride that we'll remember forever.
Vicki and Rene discuss Breaking Dawn Part One. Get ready for the opinions on this one. It's wedding time and, of course, honeymoon time. Vampire sex, pregnancy, demon babies galore!
You guessed it, it's Twilight: Eclipse time! The third installment in the saga and arguably the most forgettable, the Cullen's are back and there is a new army of vampires in town. They team up to defeat them all while Bella whines about becoming a vampire. Don't lose your head over this one.
Vicki and Rene relive the drama in Twilight: New Moon, the movie all about Team Jacob. They cover The Breakup, Bella's depression and her adrenaline junkie phase. If you haven't watched this movie, where the hell have you been, loca?
In this episode, Vicki and Rene rewatch Twilight, the first in the five part saga. Diving back into Forks, Washington brings back many memories and opinions. They discuss Bella's outfits, the A+ acting and everything in between. Thirteen years later, are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?
