Miranda Cosgrove began her journey in film and television as a Nickelodeon mainstay, and now she's busy carving out a similar space for herself over at Netflix as she celebrates the release of her second romantic comedy for the streamer. Just last year she starred in Mother of the Bride opposite Brooke Shields, Benjamin Bratt, and Chad Michael Murray, and now she headlines and executive produces The Wrong Paris.In the film, Cosgrove plays Dawn, a young woman eager to study art in Paris, France. While she does manage to get into a prestigious program there, she can't quite afford it. That's where her reality TV-loving sister swoops in. Turns out, one of her favorite shows is doing a season set in Paris, so all Dawn has to do is get on the show, get eliminated fast, and then she's free to study. Trouble is, after Dawn is indeed selected as a contestant, the producers reveal that the season will actually take place in Paris ... Texas.With The Wrong Paris now available to watch on Netflix, Cosgrove visited the Collider Ladies Night studio for a chat about making the movie, and her journey to the streamer. While we did dig into her time on Drake & Josh and iCarly, Cosgrove also made a point to emphasize what a wonderful time she had on the set of her very first feature film. That movie? The 2003 smash hit, School of Rock starring Jack Black. Jane Luk is a celebrated Canadian actress, comedian, and improviser whose career spans stage, screen, and voice work. Coming up next, she is set to recur as Maureen Alvorson in the highly anticipated horror television adaptation of Stephen King‘sThe Institute which made its premiere on July 13 on MGM+. Throughout her career, Jane has maintained a strong presence in Canada's live comedy scene, performing improv for several decades with institutions like The Second City, Bad Dog Theatre, SoCap Comedy, and Theatresports in both Toronto and Vancouver. She has also taught improv and drama for over 30 years, working with organizations such as Toronto Metropolitan University, Centre for Indigenous Theatre, ArtStarts, the University of Windsor, and a wide range of corporate clients. On screen, Jane has appeared in major film and television productions including The Handmaid's Tale, Murdoch Mysteries, Kim's Convenience, and in the award-winning web series like Streams Flow from a River (Christopher Yip) and Chateau Laurier (James Stewart). She also played the angel Maureen opposite Chad Michael Murray in Angel Falls Christmas. Most recently, she made her Stratford Festival debut in Les Belles-Soeurs, and starred as Umma in Kim's Convenience on stage for Soulpepper Theatre and Thousand Islands Playhouse. At the age of 18 he received critical attention from audiences and critics alike when he made his debut feature, My Pure Joy. Dennis is joined via Zoom by actor Marc Samuel to talk about his two new Netflix projects; the holiday film The Merry Gentlemen and the Ted Danson comedy series Man On the Inside. The Merry Gentleman is like a holiday twist on The Full Monty with Marc playing a reluctant male stripper who, along with his pals, puts on an exotic male review show to save their small town theater. Marc talks about performing the various dance numbers, working opposite male lead Chad Michael Murray, getting in shape for the role and what it's like to work for Netflix generally. He also talks about Man On the Inside and whether or not he felt pressure to be funny, giving that the show was created by Mike Shur of The Good Place and Parks and Recreation fame. Add mushrooms, shallots, garlic, and thyme to a hot pan. 2. Add butter and olive oil and sauté 3. Continue sauteing for 8-10 minutes until most of the liquid has evaporated 4. Season with salt and pepper and set aside to cool. For the Beef: * 3 Pound Center Cut Beef Tenderloin * Extra Virgin Olive Oil * Kosher Salt * Coarse Ground Black Pepper / Freshly Ground * 12 Slices Prosciutto / Sliced Thin * 6 Sprigs Fresh Thyme / Leaves Only * 5 TBS horseradish cream * 5 TBS wholegrain mustard 1. Preheat oven to 425 2. Tie the tenderloin in 4 places so it holds its shape 3. Drizzle with olive oil, then season with salt and pepper 4. Sear all over, including the ends in a skillet lightly coated with olive oil 5. Combine mustard and horseradish cream in a bowl 6. Set out your prosciutto on a sheet of plastic wrap. Shingle the prosciutto so it forms a rectangle that is big enough to cover the beef 7. Add duxelles on top of prosciutto 8. When the beef is seared, remove from heat, cut off twine and smear lightly all over with Dijon mustard. 9. Sprinkle the thyme leaves over the beef 10. 10.Place the beef on the prosciutto/mushroom. Fold prosciutto over beef and tie plastic wrap tight. 11. 11.Set in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to ensure it maintains its shape. 12. 12.Bake for 40-45 min Spinach with bacon Ingredients: * 6 bacon strips * ½ medium onion * 1 pound baby spinach * Salt and pepper Steps: 1. Cut bacon into small pieces and fry in skillet 2. Put bacon pieces on paper towel leaving 2-3 TBS of fat in the pan 3. Sauté onion in bacon fat 4.
