In this episode of Tank Talks, Matt Cohen sits down with Aidan Madigan-Curtis, Partner at Eclipse, for a sharp conversation on physical AI, frontier tech, robotics, manufacturing, and the future of building in the real world. Aidan shares her unlikely path from a small mountain town in Penticton to Harvard, Bridgewater, Apple, Samsara, and now Eclipse, where she invests at the intersection of atoms and bits. She breaks down what factory floors taught her that most software-first founders miss, why physical AI is becoming one of the biggest venture capital opportunities of the next decade, and what the U.S. and Canada must understand about China's manufacturing advantage. From launching the first Apple Watch manufacturing lines to scaling Samsara's hardware operations and investing in autonomous excavation, robotics, energy, defense, and supply chain technology, Aidan brings a rare operator-investor perspective to one of the most important shifts happening in tech today.Buckle up to understand why the next wave of AI won't just live in software; it will reshape factories, robots, infrastructure, and the physical world around us.The Unlikely Path from Penticton to Harvard (00:04:25)Aidan shares the wild story of growing up in a tiny Canadian mountain town, applying to Harvard almost by accident, and nearly missing her acceptance letter because it sat undelivered in a PO box. She reflects on how community support, risk-taking, and a willingness to swing big shaped the rest of her career.Bridgewater, Systems Thinking, and Conviction Investing (00:09:00)Aidan explains how Bridgewater's fundamental, systematic approach to markets shaped how she evaluates venture opportunities today. She breaks down why Eclipse starts with deep theses, pressure-tests industries, and backs founders before the market fully understands where the world is going. The Factory Floor Lesson Every Founder Needs (00:17:27)Drawing from her time launching Apple Watch manufacturing lines, Aidan explains why the best founders must balance brutal honesty with extreme optimism. She argues that founders who get “high on their own supply” lose touch with reality, while founders without belief cannot rally a team to do the impossible. Why Physical AI Was the Bet Before It Was Cool (00:20:34)Aidan walks through her career pattern of choosing the “unsexy” path before it becomes obvious: Bridgewater before it was famous, Apple supply chain when software was eating the world, Samsara before industrial IoT was hot, and Eclipse before physical AI became a major venture category.China's “Vibe Manufacturing” Advantage (00:28:37)Aidan unpacks Eclipse's China Field Notes and explains what “vibe manufacturing” really means: a deeply layered, highly competitive, fast-moving manufacturing ecosystem that can turn ideas into physical products at extraordinary speed. She discusses China's compounding advantage in tooling, suppliers, human capital, robotics, and government-backed industrial competition.Where the U.S. Is Ahead and Behind in Robotics (00:37:18)Aidan breaks down the robotics race between the U.S. and China. She says the U.S. remains highly competitive in embodied AI, autonomy, and goal-oriented machine intelligence, but lags badly in manufacturing depth, actuators, magnets, physical iteration speed, and lower-level robotic control. The Robotics Data Problem (00:41:14)Aidan explains why video data alone is not enough to build general-purpose robotics. She discusses the need for proprioception, haptics, physics data, and real-world interaction data, plus why China's robotic data farms could become a major strategic advantage.Canada's Opportunity in AI, Energy, and Deep Tech (00:44:47)As a Canadian-born investor, Aidan lays out where Canada can win: talent attraction, smart immigration policy, abundant clean energy, AI infrastructure, university research, biotech, quantum, defense, and strategic government offtake. She argues Canada has the raw ingredients to become a major player if it moves with urgency.Eclipse's Interest in Canadian Founders (00:49:20)Aidan shares that Eclipse is already investing in Canada, including companies in Toronto and Vancouver, and is actively interested in deep tech and physical AI founders coming out of Canada's strongest ecosystems.About Aidan Madigan-CurtisAidan Madigan-Curtis is a Partner at Eclipse, where she invests in physical AI, robotics, manufacturing, energy, defense, supply chain, and frontier technology companies. Before Eclipse, she was an early executive at Samsara, helping scale the industrial IoT company from pre-product to public company. She previously worked on Apple's manufacturing team for the first Apple Watch and began her career at Bridgewater, where she developed a systems-thinking approach to markets and complex industries.Connect with Aidan Madigan-Curtis on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/aidan-madigan-curtis/Visit the Eclipse website: https://eclipse.capital/Connect with Matt Cohen on LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/matt-cohen1Visit the Ripple Ventures website: https://www.rippleventures.com/ This is a public episode. In episode 292 of our SAP on Azure video podcast we talk about Arc-1!Just last week SAP releaed the ABAP Development Tools for VS Code which means that ABAP developers can now officially use VS Code for their development. While this is really great and I am also starting to test it, I have to admit that for me the way how ABAP development works has moved on and away from Eclipse. My colleauge Alice had released VSP - Vibecoding for Steampunk - and what happend afterwards was truly amazing. The community picked up a lot of things and enhanced it with MCP Servers, new ways to integrate in GitHub Copilot and Claude Desktop appeared -- and then someone published an MCP Server that uses the SAP ABAP Development Tools (ADT) to connect to your SAP system. It gets even better: it can run on the SAP Business Technology Platform which means that in a lot of cases you can use your existing infrastructure including the SAP Cloud Connector to get started. I am really glad to have Marian Zeis, the developer behind Arc-1, back with us, to talk about it. Guest Stephen Osborne is the owner and founder of Top Aviation Services and the president and CEO of The Osborne Company. Shortly after planemaker Sonex shut down, he purchased its assets and reopened operations as Sonex Aviation LLC. Sonex has a history of providing the recreational aviation community with innovative and affordable aircraft kits, powerplants, and accessories. The company is a leader in the homebuilt space and works to cultivate new pilots and airplane builders through educational efforts. Stephen describes how he quickly moved to purchase the Sonex assets, resume shipping kits, and set the tone for the company’s future. Sonex has a strong “work family” environment that serves not only employees but also customers and vendors. As Sonex moves forward, its success will be built on those core values and the mission to make aviation affordable for everyone. Stephen is a military veteran and former U.S. Army Captain and FAA-certificated commercial pilot. Top Aviation provides FAA-certified flight training for Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, and Commercial, as well as discovery flights and aircraft rentals at KTOP in Topeka, Kansas. The Osborne Company is a general contracting firm specializing in the design and installation of electric vehicle and aircraft charging infrastructure across the United States. Aviation News Feds Mull Pulling Customs From New York, LA, Chicago, and Other Airports in ‘Sanctuary Cities' Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin has suggested removing Customs and Border Protection officers from airports in so-called sanctuary cities where local authorities do not assist federal immigration investigations. Those cities include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco international hubs. In a recent congressional hearing, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, “We shouldn't shut down air travel in a state that doesn't agree with our politics.” Airlines and business groups warn of chaos if US restricts international flights In a joint statement, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Airlines for America, the National Retail Federation, U.S. Travel, and other groups said the move “threatens to cause unnecessary chaos throughout the nation’s air transportation system.” “Any reduction in Customs and Border Protection operations at major U.S. gateway airports threatens to cause unnecessary chaos throughout the nation's air transportation system. International aviation networks are highly interconnected, and operational changes at a small number of gateway airports will quickly ripple across the country, negatively impacting travelers, cargo shipments, supply chains, and the communities that depend on those connections. Airports and airlines rely on stable, predictable federal inspection services to keep people and commerce moving safely and efficiently. We urge DHS to avoid actions that would create unnecessary operational and economic consequences for communities nationwide. As the United States prepares for growing international travel demand, DHS should avoid actions that would create unnecessary bottlenecks and economic consequences for communities across the country. Now is the time to strengthen America's gateway infrastructure, not weaken it.” See also, Airlines urge Trump administration not to curb international flights in feud over ‘sanctuary cities' Eclipse Aero Says It Has about 3 Years of Parts in Stock Eclipse supplier Resurgent Aviation Solutions (RAS) says on its webpage that the company “has elected to wind down all business operations and liquidate all remaining assets. The new Aerolite Spitfire Type 433 has been constructed at a cost of about £750,000. The composite kit plane is touring the UK this spring and summer at air shows and military and classic motor festivals. Great British Supermarine Ltd, is the manufacturer. The NTSB now wants it taken down The NTSB does not release cockpit voice recordings made during an accident. Other evidence from investigations is released to the public, including photographs, videos, maps, and other data. During a two-day investigative hearing on the UPS flight 2976 accident, a PDF file was released that showed an analysis of the spectrogram of the audio recorded by the CVR. However, the NTSB was not aware “that advances in image recognition and computational methods have enabled individuals to reconstruct approximations of cockpit voice recorder audio from sound spectrum imagery.” Subsequently, the NTSB closed public access to all dockets. On this week's episode of Valley of Depth, our first recorded in person, we sit down with Jason Kim, CEO of Firefly Aerospace, in the company's historic Blue Ghost mission control room in Cedar Park, Texas — the same room where 60 engineers watched their lander touch down at one meter per second last year.    From there, the conversation opens into how Jason actually thinks: about the Moon, about scale, and about being a "mission CEO" rather than a hardware or software one. The Mandalorian and Grogu movie has arrived! How did it perform? Was it the best movie Lucasfilm has released since Rise of Skywalker? Of course! It's the ONLY Star Wars movie released since that one in 2019! Maul: Shadow Lord's first season is over and we know there will be a season two, but Ahsoka might not end after it's sophomore season. We have to wait for 2027 to find out and by that time, we'll be gearing up for another Star Wars movie! There's gaming news on Knights of the Old Republic and the spiritual successor, Fate of the Old Republic. Eclipse seems to need developers, which means it isn't cancelled. Collectors have lots to collect, like LEGO sets and Hasbro figures and there's even a chance someone can bring home Grogu (for the right price). There's a new ride mode in Galaxy's Edge and new planets to visit, new merchandise in the stalls of Batuu and a new show on the spires. Two legends in the Star Wars space pass into the Force and we have another "word" for you this month.Feel free to take part in contributing ideas and commenting on our podcasts on Spotify, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, on Facebook, through Amazon's podcast portal, or even on Discord. Aidan Madigan-Curtis's path to becoming a partner at Eclipse hinges on fundamental and generalizable takeaways about the U.S. economy that are coming to the fore again. When she was on the manufacturing team at Apple, helping to launch the first Apple Watch, she realized many of the best minds in the world where whittling away at B2B SaaS even as 85% of global GDP, concentrated on how we make, move, and power things, would require step-changes in both hardware, production processes, and decarbonization and sustainability. To address that gap, Aidan and partners have built Eclipse Capital into a $10 billion venture firm that invests in and support companies combining novel approaches to both atoms and bits-focused businesses to rebuild American manufacturing, energy infrastructure, and industrial capacity.Fast-forward to 2026, and the results validate the insight into the core needs and the opportunity to address it: Eclipse recently raised another $1.3 billion across two new funds to back everything from sodium-ion battery storage (Peak Energy) to next-generation nuclear reactors to radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. The firm's portfolio also spans advanced metal 3D printing (Vulcan Forms), autonomous construction equipment (Bedrock Robotics), and cell therapy manufacturing (Solaris). And the thesis remains largely the same, namely that physical-world companies with durable advantages will define the next market cycle, especially as AI demand collides with infrastructural realities. There's a lot more to Nick and Aidan's convo than this, too. Nick and Aidan also zoomed out to examine topics such as: • How data center build-out could accelerate renewable deployment and other elements of the push to decarbonize and advance sustainability prerogatives• How and why public market narratives are shifting to reward companies with physical assets whereas these were less privileged even a few years ago• The power of manufacturing scale to create geopolitical advantages whether economically or in terms of national security. April 24, 2026 - Equipped 2026 - Day 2 - 1:30 PM Session In this episode Lori at the Eclipse workshop offers a fast-paced, deeply pastoral study connecting the book of Genesis with the Psalms and what those connections mean for Christian women today. Opening with a memorable historical anecdote—Buzz Aldrin quoting Psalm 8 after the moon landing—the talk centers on an exegesis of Psalm 8 (a Psalm of David), highlighting its chiastic structure, its language for God (Yahweh and Adonai), and the surprising theological details woven into the short poem: praise from babes, God's glory "above the heavens," humanity made a little lower than the angels, and dominion over creation. The presenter then broadens the view to show how many Psalms echo Genesis themes rather than retell Genesis narratives: creation, the fall, God's covenant promises, providence, and God's desire for relationship with humanity. She outlines Genesis (chapters 1–11 as primeval history; chapters 12–50 as the patriarchal promise that culminates in the line of Abraham) and emphasizes five recurring motifs in Genesis—God's power, plan, promise, presence, and provision—and how the Psalms reflect and respond to those motifs in praise, lament, and prophecy. Key scriptural touchpoints and cross-references discussed include Psalm 8; Matthew 21:16 where Jesus cites the Psalm; Genesis 1–3 and Genesis 12 (the Abrahamic promise); Hebrews and 1 Corinthians 1:27; and Psalm 51 and other Psalms that show Israel's covenant memory, worship practices, and longing for the Messiah. The talk also notes editorial and literary features of the Psalter (its fivefold division, psalms of praise versus lament, and how individual psalms function as worship, prayer, and theological reflection). The episode ends with practical application for listeners: why Genesis matters for personal faith, how the Psalms teach us to pray in joy and distress, and concrete responses—seek God in Scripture, worship corporately and in nature, trust him through lament, and obey as a response of love. The message closes with a pastoral prayer asking God's blessing on the attendees and their families and pointing forward to the ultimate hope of redemption in Christ.   Duration 41:38

Artie Fletcher is a ridiculous human who thinks he had a career in stand up, acting, and music. And he's so braggadocious. He might actually surpass Stuttering John in that category. And when it comes to hitting on the only woman on the show… chef's kiss from StutJo.  Vinnie Paulino joins us to show everyone Artie's biggest TV commercial ever, for Eclipse gum, and how that made him their spokesperson in interpersonal relationships. Kevin Brennan clowns Ray DeVito's stand up, which would be fine, but he does it with Tom Myers. KarmicX got dumped by Felicia Gillespie and he takes full responsibility because he was doing “drugs.” Bill Burr went to a restaurant and coffee shop in Atlanta… no further questions!! This guy couldn't make his life seem more boring. Good thing he's not an entertainer. Oh wait. Opie had a big F U Friday episode that exposed the fact that he doesn't even know what an entertaining podcast could possibly sound like. At least he's making money on superchats… that reference WATP. D'oh!! We finish with Internet News and voicemails. The Chinese have long envied America's power, influence, and market share. But after Trump's failed trade war, his attacks on allies, and the embarrassment in Iran, the view from Beijing has shifted: It now sees us as a nation in decline. Plus, inflation is creeping back up, the stock market is out of whack, new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is screwed, and the ag community is feeling the pain of Trump's policies. And for the view from the Democratic resistance, Rep. Garcia tells Tim that Dems are not finished with their own redistricting and that Gavin's greatest strength is his obsession with winning. And he says Dems are going to fight like hell to win the House so they can investigate the Trump family corruption and the Epstein case—the single largest government cover-up in history. Rep. Dr. Erwin Lutzer is Pastor Emeritus of The Moody Church where he served as the senior pastor for 36 years. He's the speaker on the Running to Win radio broadcast as well as an award-winning author. Some of his titles include: We Will Not Be Silenced, The Eclipse of God, When a Nation Forgets God, One Minute After You Die, and many others. Is there a habit that has been your Achilles heel; something that no matter what you do, you can't seem to shake it? You've prayed about it, you've asked forgiveness for it over and over again. You've read passages in the Bible concerning it, but it continues to plague you. This is something that affects many individuals. Dr. Lutzer wrote a book which was originally published many years ago, but it's become not only a staple for the library, but a book that is helping a whole new generation of believers. It's a book to help you overcome the struggles in your life through a lasting transformation of attitude and heart. It's titled: How To Say No to a Stubborn Habit (Even When You Feel Like Saying Yes). What is so alluring about temptation that makes it easy to fall for it? What does believing that God is good have to do with our bad habits? What does it mean to trust in God's grace? Should our past be our governing motivation or should we put our past behind us? These are just some of the questions answered on this broadcast as Dr. Lutzer leads listeners through Scripture to bring the answers all of us need to defeat stubborn habits!

Global Benefits Require Local Listening There is no universal benefits playbook. What matters to an employee in Bangalore — where the daily commute can be a two-hour ordeal — is fundamentally different from what matters to someone in Austin or Cork. Companies with global teams need to engage local employees to understand what's actually meaningful, rather than exporting the US benefits model everywhere. 2. Transportation Is an Underrated Global Benefit In cities like Bangalore and Manila, commuter benefits can have a more meaningful daily impact than gym memberships or wellness stipends. Dave's team is actively exploring cab subsidies and transportation allowances as targeted benefits for teams in markets where commuting is genuinely burdensome. 3. Mental Health Benefits Only Work If Confidentiality Is Real and Communicated On-demand therapy platforms drive adoption when employees genuinely believe their sessions are private. People leaders need to actively and repeatedly communicate that they have zero access to individual usage data — because the fear that HR is watching is a real barrier to utilization, even for platforms that are genuinely confidential. 4. Aggregate Mental Health Data Is a Strategic Signal Even without individual visibility, the top themes surfaced by a mental health platform — stress, burnout, anxiety — give people leaders actionable intelligence about where the organization needs to go deeper. That's qualitative data that should be feeding benefits strategy and manager training. 5. What Candidates Care About Depends on Where They Are in Life Junior employees ask about food and gym benefits. Senior employees want to know about 401(k) match and parental leave. But across every level and every geography, candidates are asking to see the benefits package — and those conversations are happening on par with base salary discussions. 6. Elder Care Is the Next Major Benefits Frontier — and It's Personal for Dave Dave went through the elder care journey for both parents with nothing from his employer to help navigate it. That experience led him to advise an elder care platform and made him one of the most vocal advocates for this benefit category. His message: companies that don't build something here in the next few years will lose the sandwich generation employees who need it most. 7. The Elderly Population Is About to Eclipse the Child Population in the US The demographic shift is imminent. The sandwich generation — employees simultaneously raising children and caring for aging parents — is about to become the dominant workforce cohort. People leaders who are not designing benefits for this reality are already behind. 8. Concierge Benefits Address the Real Cost of Being Away The most relatable benefit Dave wishes he had: someone to handle real-life logistics when you're traveling for work. A fallen tree, a lawn that needs cutting, a home emergency — the mental load of worrying about what's happening at home while you're on the road is a real productivity drain that concierge services can address. 9. HR Needs a Purposeful AI Design — Not a Default One Dave's key insight from Transform 2026: the most important AI conversation in HR isn't about what AI can do — it's about what you want it to do. Mapping capabilities and making deliberate decisions about where AI takes over and where human judgment is protected is the strategic work that separates thoughtful people organizations from reactive ones. CHAPTERS: 00:00 – Introduction Adam welcomes Dave Hanrahan from SolarWinds, fresh off a panel session, and sets up a conversation about global people leadership and benefits. 02:00 – Meet SolarWinds & Dave's Role Dave describes SolarWinds — a B2B IT observability platform — and his role as SVP of People, including joining two weeks before an acquisition and managing a team spanning six countries. 04:30 – Managing a Global Workforce Up Close Why Dave prioritizes getting out to international offices in person, and what you can only understand about site culture when you're actually there. 07:00 – How Benefits Work Around the World A rarely discussed topic: how benefits are structured differently by country, why one-size-fits-all doesn't work globally, and what SolarWinds is learning about meeting employees where they are in each market. 10:00 – Transportation Benefits in Bangalore & Manila The standout benefit conversation: why commuter subsidies matter more than gym memberships for teams in some of the world's most congested cities — and how SolarWinds is working with local teams to figure out the right solution. 13:00 – Mental Health Benefits & the Confidentiality Challenge How SolarWinds approaches global on-demand therapy benefits, why anonymity is the key to adoption, and what aggregate data from the platform tells Dave as a people leader about workforce stress trends. 16:30 – How Benefits Are Priced & Structured A practical breakdown: per-employee session allotments, how utilization is tracked, when the company raises session limits, and how group sessions expand access across the organization. 19:00 – What Candidates Actually Ask About in Total Comp Dave's generational breakdown: junior employees ask about food and gym benefits; senior employees go straight to 401(k) match and parental leave. And across the board, every candidate asks to see the benefits flyer. 22:00 – The Elder Care Gap — Dave's Personal Story Dave's most personal moment in the episode: going through elder care for both parents with zero company support, becoming an advisor to an elder care benefits platform, and why he believes this is the next major benefits frontier. 26:00 – The Sandwich Generation Is Here The data point that stops the conversation: the US elderly population is about to eclipse the child population. Dave and Adam get real about what that means for employees caught in the middle — raising kids while caring for aging parents. 29:30 – Concierge Benefits & the Value of Peace of Mind What Dave wishes he had as an employee traveling for work: concierge services that handle real-life logistics — the lawn, the fallen tree, the home emergency — so employees can focus on the job. 32:00 – Mapping AI to HR: What to Automate, What to Protect Dave's aha moment from Transform 2026: the importance of purposefully mapping which HR functions should become agentic versus where human judgment — on hiring, promotions, compensation, feedback — must be retained. 35:00 – Keeping the Human at the Center Dave's words of optimism: at this conference, HR leaders are pushing back on the narrative that AI should replace human judgment. The energy at Transform is about keeping people at the heart of the most important decisions.
