October looks radically different than September. In general there's just more happening, with 26 major aspects or planetary motions, compared with September's 16. Mercury and Venus will finally change signs, after both having extended transits due to retrogrades. Mars and the Sun are also on the move. We'll be navigating Eclipses and Eclipse season. If you weren't enjoying the slower, same same pace of September, October brings plenty of shifts and changes. Or if the mutability of Virgo season was the kind of busy you're not a fan of, Libra season may provide better balance and a sense of momentum. There's a little something for everyone! 0:00 - October Overview 4:20 - Eclipse Season / Venus in Virgo 10:35 - Venus in Virgo 15:05 - Solar Eclipse in Libra 20:25 - Lunar Eclipse in Taurus 26:50 - South Node Conjunctions 33:50 - Mars in Scorpio 41:10 - Malefics in Water, Benefics in Earth FREE Houses PDF - https://mailchi.mp/e24e6ce35f6c/12-houses-pdf Website - https://www.jasminsastrology.com/ Newsletter - jasminsastrology.com/newsletter-signup Instagram - @jasminsastrology --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/jasminsastrology/message

Derrick Varn and Douglas Lain discuss Horkheimer's book "The Eclipse of Reason," the technocracy, and the question of the PMC in this month's edition of Pop the Left!
Welcome to this week's episode of the Weekly Astrology Oddcast! In this episode Francesca delves into many different topics (and goes on a few tangents) while she discusses the themes of this Full Moon week and the approaching ECLIPSE SEASON.BRANDING is a topic that in this day and age is more or less always relevant but it is especially pertinent now as we enter Eclipse season and have a very potent Full Moon approaching which is putting the polarity of the Aries and Libra axis under an intense spotlight. Many of you are probably familiar with the Danish folktale called “The Emperor's New Clothes” but if you are not then this is what Wikipedia summarises the plot as: “Two swindlers arrive at the capital city of an emperor who spends lavishly on clothing at the expense of state matters. Posing as weavers, they offer to supply him with magnificent clothes that are invisible to those who are stupid or incompetent. The emperor hires them, and they set up looms and go to work. A succession of officials, and then the emperor himself, visit them to check their progress. Each sees that the looms are empty but pretends otherwise to avoid being thought a fool. Finally, the weavers report that the emperor's suit is finished. They mime dressing him and he sets off in a procession before the whole city. The townsfolk uncomfortably go along with the pretense, not wanting to appear inept or stupid, until a child blurts out that the emperor is wearing nothing at all. The people then realize that everyone has been fooled. Although startled, the emperor continues the procession, walking more proudly than ever.”Find out more in this episode while Francesca shares her thoughts on branding (and tries her hardest to not mention any specific brands!)Don't miss the Full Moon horoscopes for your sign where Francesca will go through each rising sign and the area of their chart and life that is highlighted by this upcoming Aries Full Moon on Friday. As always, thank you for listening!Resources:Listen to my Podcast episode Love Revolution hereBuy Cycles hereRead my blogs hereUse code LISTENER to get 25% off my course; Learn to Read Your Birth Chart Find me:Instagram: @francescaoddieastrology@astrologyretreats TikTok: @francescaoddieastrologyWebsite:francescaoddie.com

How about those cards, Andrea! We've got major Arcana coming in with this month's energy and honestly, it feels good! Are there bumps, of course. But we've been doing the internal work since Summer Solstice and now things are finally moving again. The trick is to remember all the things you've uncovered during this internal deep dive. What truly matters to you and what lights you up? If you need to place boundaries around the relationships that no long support you, then build that fence as high as you need to. Or to the 3 foot code limit like Andrea's Dad. We chuckle our way through another episode and go totally off the rails into Holiday Hallmark movie land at the end, but I promise the insights and astrology for Libra season will help you navigate the first half of Eclipse season with ease! It's a back-to-back music double feature week! The vibes in this one are...a little different from That Thing You Do, to say the least. And of course I only mean that in the sense of they play more than one song. NATHANIEL MARLOWE is back to join the boys on a rocketship to the top of the charts to discuss the 2010 excessively indie rock biopic THE RUNAWAYS. Can we call it a Twilight "Reunion" if it comes out the same year as Eclipse? Jury's out on that one. Join them as they answer such questions as: Did you see them pee on that guitar? How much of the true Runaways story did this cut out? Was Tatum O'Neal also a sitcom star? and Is Michael Shannon the God Damn best or what? among many others... Thank you for coming on, Natty! We'll be sure to link to the music video you mentioned as soon as it comes out. SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS FOR THIS EPISODE: Superhuman Public Radio Season 2 (featuring Luke!) is out now! The annular solar eclipse will cross North, Central and South America on Oct. 14 and it will be visible in parts of the U.S., with the greatest path visibility in Texas. Everyone should know by now not to stare directly at an eclipse but may not know why. Our guest, Kelly Mitchell, M.D., Texas Tech Physicians ophthalmologist, explains why we shouldn't look directly at the eclipse and describes the damage it can do to our eyes. Dr. Mitchell also warns us about using our smart phones to look at the eclipse and gives us tips at how to enjoy the eclipse without harming our eyes. Eclipse is a piece that has grown and taken on a life of its own. Revisited after the last solar eclipse in the US, this piece contains classical fingerstyle right-hand technique but with influences of the Blues, Rock, and Flamenco. I always enjoy putting different styles of music together and realize they blend quite well. To order the complete album, please visit:Fire and Rain | Greg C. Brown (bandcamp.com)

In this episode, Zach talks with University of Oregon astronomy professor Scott Fisher about the upcoming "ring of fire" solar eclipse. The annular eclipse, while not quite as dramatic as the 2017 total solar eclipse, will showcase the moon blocking the sun in Oregon beginning at 9:13 a.m. on Oct. 14 and traveling across a wide swath of the state. Fisher, also the director of Pine Mountain Observatory in Central Oregon, talks about where to best see the eclipse, what's happening in the sky and how it's different from the 2017 event.
Solana on Ethereum? Solana has a virtual machine called the SVM. Proponents say it's much better than the Ethereum EVM…multi-threaded execution…now it's coming to Ethereum in the form of an L2. Today on the show, we brought on CEO & Co-Founder of Eclipse, Neel Somani. Eclipse is not only a new L2 on the scene, it's also an L2 framework, kind of like the OP Stack. It's a superchain contender. This poses some very interesting questions….who wins? Does this kill Solana? ------

During the Virgo New Moon happening on September 14th we'll be focusing on a specific area of our lives that needs our attention, reflection, and a little bit of fixing. It's important to recognize even the smallest blockages or misalignments in our life so that their influence doesn't compound over time. In this process of cleaning up, we are supported with the clarity and breakthrough energy of Uranus, while also being challenged to slow down, be patient, and allow through the opposition with Neptune and Mercury to Saturn in Pisces. Navy pilots took to the air 100 years ago today to view one of nature's most amazing sights: a total solar eclipse. It was the first time that airplanes had been used to study an eclipse. In fact, it was the first attempt at airborne astronomy — studying the universe from above as much of the atmosphere as possible. Most of the eclipse path was over the Pacific Ocean. But it clipped some islands in southwestern California, then continued across northern Mexico. Astronomers from around the world set up bases to watch the eclipse — projects that involved years of preparation, dozens of people, and massive logistics efforts. But when the eclipse rolled around, most of them were stymied by clouds. The U.S. Navy sent up 16 airplanes to watch the eclipse — biplanes with open cockpits. Their main goal was to plot the centerline of the eclipse. That would help astronomers refine their calculations of the Moon's orbit. A second goal was to snap pictures of the Sun's corona — its hot, thin outer atmosphere. Pilots flew at altitudes of one to three miles, across California, Mexico, and the Pacific. They made important observations of the shadow, but none of their pictures worked out — the film was too slow, the airplanes too jittery, the skies too cloudy. But more successful eclipse flights would follow in the coming decades — watching cosmic spectacles from on high. Script by Damond Benningfield Support McDonald Observatory

Toby Kraus and Ben Parker are co-founders of Lightship, an all-electric RV. Their first model, the L1, is a tow trailer with a sizable solar array on top, electric heat pump HVAC, an induction stove in the kitchen, an 80 kilowatt hour battery and an EV range extending or gas mileage boosting feature wherein the tow trailer provides some on-road power to the vehicle that's pulling it. Ben is a former mechanical design engineer at Tesla who contributed to the Model 3. Toby also worked at Tesla, first in finance then as product manager for the Model S. He later assumed an executive position at Proterra, an electric bus company. Despite Proterra's recent bankruptcy, it played a pivotal role in advancing large vehicle electrification. In 2020, Toby and Ben teamed up to establish Lightship and unveiled the L1 for pre-orders in March 2023.This conversation not only covers the founders' backgrounds and the L1's feature set, but also how they have sized the RV market, how the electrification of the RV will help drive the electrification of the pickup truck sector overall, and how the L1 can serve as a power source to a home when it's not in use as an RV. MCJ Collective is proud to be a multi-time investor in Lightship via our venture capital funds, and we still learned a lot during this conversation. In this episode, we cover: [03:06]: Ben's background and Tesla experience[05:43]: How electrifying food trucks led Ben to work on RVs[09:07]: Ben's experience in Formula 1 student racing[10:37]: Toby's background: finance, Tesla, Proterra, and Eclipse[16:46]: RV categories and the market landscape[20:30]: The role of aerodynamics in trailer design [23:08]: Potential for Lightship L1 to unlock electrification in pickup trucks[25:05]: The hodgepodge of fossil fuel systems in legacy RVs[27:20]: Prioritizing a game-changing product with sustainability as a bonus[28:24]: An in-depth overview of the Lightship L1 trailer's sleek design[30:58]: Details of the L1's solar paneled roof, HVAC, and stove[34:51]: Pricing and target customer demographics [40:23]: Addressing range anxiety with existing RV campground infrastructure[42:25]: Lightship L1's battery and potential as a home backup power source[49:50]: Tackling the problem of embedded emissions with durability[53:51]: How Lightship finances their businessGet connected: Toby Kraus LinkedIn / Ben Parker LinkedInLightship LinkedIn / XCody Simms LinkedIn / XMCJ Podcast / Collective*You can also reach us via email at info@mcjcollective.com, where we encourage you to share your feedback on episodes and suggestions for future topics or guests.Episode recorded on Aug 10, 2023 (Published on Aug 24, 2023)
