Welcome to The Crowley Tapes, a new mini-series on Rubashov's Eye. It seems that no matter what piece of history I'm researching, some way, somehow, I will always stumble across a connection to one name: Aleister Crowley. I have wanted to speak about Crowley for a long time, however, the more I dive deeper into the depths of his life and philosophies the more I discover that it is simply impossible to do in one episode, or even two. Crowley's influence lingers throughout history like a poison that seeps out into every crack, and finds the strangest of people at the strangest of times. In our first episode, we cover the mystery of Crowley, his early life, and his obsessive relationship with sex in opposition to his evangelical upbringing.Join the Podcast Patreon!https://www.patreon.com/rubashovseyeFollow Morgaine and the podcast:TikTok: @morgaine.tarot and @rubashovseyepodcastInstagram: @morgaine.tarot and @rubashovseyeThoughts and business inquiries:rubashovseyepodcast@gmail.comBeautiful podcast art by Lorien Vivianne. And we're back! In this week's episode, we take a look at how history can help us better understand propaganda, and the stark difference between image and reality when it came to Nazi drug policy, and Hitler's own use of hormones, steroids, and uppers. In light of Putin's invasion of Ukraine on the 24th of February, this week's episode is an emergency episode on the history of oppression within Ukraine, with a specific look at the 20th Century. It is essential at this time that we do our best to stay informed as possible on the history of this catastrophic event, and how that history will have impacted what is to come.Humanitarian Aid for Ukraine: Donate directly to Ukraine's army: https://savelife.in.ua/donate/Ukrainian Red Cross: https://donate.redcross.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-crisis-appealFollow Morgaine and the podcast:TikTok: @morgaine.tarot and @rubashovseyepodcastInstagram: @morgaine.tarot and @rubashovseyeThoughts and business inquiries:rubashovseyepodcast@gmail.comBeautiful podcast art by Lorien Vivianne. In perhaps our most controversial episode to date, we take a look at censorship within the USSR through the lens of Dimitri Shostakovich's long struggle against Stalin's ever-pressing paranoia. We also take a brief look at the contorted lens through which the West views the history of the USSR and the reality of its culture of censorship and punishment. The intention of this episode is to allow the listener to question whether or not art should be censored, and perhaps more importantly -- whether it can be in the first place. Dimitri Shostakovich's story is deeply fascinating and all too heartbreaking, a stark reminder to our modern-day what happens when we allow ourselves to censor the expression of others. Reading material mentioned:"Muddle Instead of Music" - Jan 28th, 1936. An article rumored to be written by Stalin. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago (the abridged version). Milan Kundera, The Joke. In this week's episode, we take another look at the troubling relationship between fascism and the occult, through the specific lens of one prominent British fascist, conspiracy theorist, and feminist, Nesta Helen Webster. We have a deep dive into the theories that she proported, and later we theorise on why the relationship between fascism and the occult has been so prevalent across the globe. Some reading material on British Fascism/Nesta Helen Webster: R. Thurlow, Fascism in Britain, from Oswald Mosley's Blackshirts to the National Front. T. In our second episode, we speak about a quote from Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, modern-day society's obsession with presenting ourselves as morally pristine individuals, and our tendency to "cast the first stone" at those who (at face value) do not live up to that moral cleanliness. Then, I bring on our first guest (my partner), Arron Cockell (Ph.D. in History, with a specialty in masculinity in fascism), to discuss the ethics of the baby Hitler thought experiment. Welcome to Rubashov's Eye. In our first episode, we will be talking about our intentions for this podcast, the origins of the Atlantis Myth back in Plato's Dialogues, and how history mangled Plato's political allegory into a race purity myth that perhaps contributed to one of the most horrific moments ever recorded in human history.
