In the 930th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Mike Holtz are joined by 2024 World Poker Tour (WPT) World Champion Scott Stewart at Level 9 Studios in Las Vegas.  The trio offers an update regarding the home game fight between Maurice Hawkins and aggressor Eugene Castaneda, namely a warrant out for the latter. They then dissect the controversial hand played by Ryan Depaulo, Andre Moreira, and James Caputo in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise $25K Super Main Event. Who was in the right? Who was in the wrong?  Speaking of that tournament, Jesse Lonis made a big fold that sparked a heated rivalry with Shaun Deeb. Even Daniel Negreanu weighed in with his thoughts about the play. Speaking of Kid Poker, he fired away in the Super Main Event, which shed light on so many poker pros firing multiple bullets into the uniquely-structured tournament. Some players fired 11, 12, and even 14 bullets throughout the various flights. Is it good or bad for poker? How might recreational players interpret it?  Down in the Bahamas, Charlie Hook, Koray Aldemir, Joao Simao, David Coleman, and Aleksejs Ponakovs have all captured gold bracelets, while Matan Krakow took down the EPT Prague Main Event. The set decorators do an excellent job of redressing the Atlantis set when the team finds one of its sister cities in The Tower. It was really fun seeing the set we're all familiar with dressed up in a different way and with furniture all over the place.   The guest stars in this episode were really top notch. Otho and Tavius were both excellent in their roles (though we're really hoping the guy who plays Tavius is much nicer in real life). Rodney's chemistry with Baldric is also fantastic and we loved every scene between those two.   Does anyone else want to just bite into a tomato? In 450 BC, Herodotus described an Egyptian labyrinth so massive it made the pyramids look small. Then it vanished under the desert for 2,000 years. A handful of videos on social media depict a recent gathering, reportedly in Georgia, where a group of people were gathered to chant “Atlanta” is “Atlantis.” Supposedly they were there to create an “energy vortex” in order to summon the spirit of Atlantis and reclaim the city for black people. What exactly is this supposed to mean?Atlanta was founded in 1837 as a railroad terminus originally named "Terminus,” because the city marked the end of the Western & Atlantic Railroad. It was renamed "Marthasville" in 1843 and then changed to "Atlanta" in 1845. Some believe the city name is a shorthand for “Atlantica,” as in the Atlantic Ocean. Others believe the city was named after Atalanta, a mythologized heroin known for her speed and independence (the wild boar hunt and race against her suitors) which were qualities of the growing rail hub that is Atlanta. The mythical land and concept of Atlantis in some ways even predates Plato, though he is credited with its story. Writing in his Timaeus and Critias Plato derived the Atlantis story from Solon, an Athenian lawmaker who learned of the same from an elderly priest in the land of Egypt at the Temple of Sais. At the time, around 630-560 BC, the records were already at least 8,000 years old. Reportedly a global cataclysm destroyed Atlantis sometime between 9,600 to 11,600 years ago. Later on Francis Bacon termed his ideal city the New Atlantis or Platonopolis. The timeframe noted by Plato places the destruction within the window of the Younger Dryas, 12,900 to 11,700 years ago (10,900-9,7000 BC). It's one thing to be unaware of seemingly lost, drowned or buried history, but another to be so shockingly unaware of basic mythology and recent local history. It is understandable so many are disenfranchised by the lies and ego of mainline historical narratives, but the turn to Q-Anon, Flat Earth, Tataria, and World Fair conspiracies appears to be another layer of disinformation rather than the truth. Peter Robbins returns to the show, and we talk about his return to the UK and Rendlesham, and then get into the life and research of Wilhelm Reich. If you are not familiar with the man, you should be. You will see why on this show. Peter is of course best known for his work on the Rendlesham Forest case, but has an extensive resume dealing with Reich as well. Peter Robbins was first introduced to the books of Wilhelm Reich as a teenager by a college roommate, to whom he remains deeply indebted. In 1976 he met Dr. Elsworth F. Baker, Reich's first assistant for the last eleven years of his life. Soon after this he became a patient of Dr. Baker and entered into almost seven years of medical orgone therapy with the distinguished orgonomist.Robbins went on to enroll in the classes New York University offered in scientific and social orgonomy which was taught by the Reich scholars Professors John Bell and Paul Matthews. They in turn invited him to become a member of their ongoing Seminar in Social and Scientific Orgonomy, patterned after the seminars which Sigmund Freud presided over during the nineteen twenties. Peter spent much of the nineteen eighties involved with this group, presenting a variety of papers to his fellow seminar members under Matthews' and Bell's guidance and leadership.Peter was a volunteer fundraiser for the American College of Orgonomy's (ACO) Building Fund and had two papers on Wilhelm Reich and UFOs published in the Journal of Orgonomy. He was part of a select group of volunteers invited to witness a demonstration of cloudbusting technology and presented on the subject of Reich and UFOs at the ACO's Princeton NJ facility, and at international conferences on the life and work of Reich in New York City, Ashland Oregon, Niece France and Karavomilos Greece. His lectures have been well received at numerous scientific and UFO conferences both here and abroad while his articles on the subject have been published in a variety of print and web publications. Robbins' extensively researched paper, “Politics, Religion and Human Nature: Practical Problems and Roadblocks on the Path Toward Official UFO Acknowledgment” is scheduled to be published in the upcoming issue of Annals of the Institute for Orgonomic Science.
