We also discuss how therapists can collaborate with parents to help their high risk teens while also maintaining the teen's trust and confidentiality in therapy. Katie shares some practical frameworks and models that are effective in helping high risk teen, as well as effective ways to safety plan with a high risk teen. In the spring of 1974, a bold experiment arrived on the American sports scene: World Team Tennis (WTT) — a mixed-gender professional league co-founded and championed by Billie Jean King, who envisioned a more inclusive, fan-friendly, and forward-looking version of the sport. WTT challenged tennis tradition and reimagined how the game could be played, packaged, and consumed. With innovative scoring, raucous arena atmospheres, and genuine star power, the league aimed to pull tennis out of the country club and into the mainstream. Men and women competed side-by-side, fans were encouraged to cheer, and matches moved at a faster, television-friendly pace. It was daring, disruptive, and unmistakably ahead of its time. The original incarnation of WTT lasted just five seasons, folding in 1978 amid financial losses, franchise instability, and the realities of building a national sports league before modern media economics took hold. Yet its influence — on tennis, sports marketing, and gender equity — continues to echo decades later. John Schwarz, author of"World Team Tennis and the Legacy of a Sports League", joins the pod this week for a revealing conversation that brings rare firsthand perspective to the original circuit's remarkable story. Schwarz is uniquely positioned to tell it: during WTT's initial 1974-78 run, he separately served in the front offices of both the league itself, and then for one of its most emblematic franchises — the Robert Kraft-owned Boston Lobsters.    In many respects, the Lobsters were a lens into WTT itself — a franchise that embodied the league's ambition, creativity, and community appeal, while also confronting the harsh economic truths that ultimately doomed many teams. There's certainly one thing that I made my mind up about this one, and that's how Perry Constantine from Superhero Cinephiles and Japan on Film needed to come by and help me make sure that I kept everything straight here. And it's a good thing too because with more playable character than I want to count spread out across 7 consoles upon release and a few more as back catalogs were taken advantage of it would have been really easy to miss something here. So was there an actual story for this game? Or was it just a giant excuse to squeeze in as many tidbits as they could so the other kids would think they're cool? You'll have to listen to find out! The myth that sex "stretches out" vaginas is anatomically false; vaginal muscles are elastic, not memory foam.Women's pain is systematically dismissed by the medical establishment — conditions like endometriosis take 7-10 years to diagnose, and menstrual cramps can rival heart attack pain. This stems from historical medical sexism, including experiments on enslaved Black women without anesthesia.Teaching children proper anatomical terminology is a critical safety issue — when kids know words like "vagina," "vulva," and "clitoris," they can clearly communicate if abuse occurs. You all experience bouts of sadness and even depression when you look out at the state of your world and you hear news of what might happen next. You all get dragged down at times by the happenings of the day, and it certainly doesn't help that there are people who predict that things will get worse before they get better there on Earth. And so we want to remind you that the Earth that you experience right now is not the Earth that you will experience in the next split second. You are traveling all the time to other realities that have an entirely different Earth than the one that you were just experiencing.  What that means is that you don't have to despair over the state of affairs of the earth that you're currently experiencing. In fact, you would do much better to look at what you're putting your attention on. Which of the challenges facing humankind on planet Earth at this moment has your attention? And then you must ask yourself the question of why. Why does that particular issue hit home for you? What is it that's getting activated within you?  And when you identify the fear, the anxiety, or whatever it is that comes up within you, then you have the opportunity to process it and move beyond it. You will then be assuring yourself that you don't have to continue to experience the same old, same old, and you certainly won't be on a timeline where you are moving towards more chaos and destruction, more war, violence, and greed.  You elevate your consciousness by doing inner work that you are meant to do, and then you harmonize with a different planet Earth that gives you that new reflection that you want to see. But if you are in despair, then you are in agreement with people who say that it's going to take a lot for the landscape on planet Earth to change given where we are right now. It only takes you doing the work that you need to do on yourselves to experience a brand new Earth that is very dissimilar to the one that you were just experiencing, but it takes introspection. It takes self awareness.
