"I have a message for the youth! Don't smoke! Stop! I tried one cigarette and I was addicted!", said Holocaust survivor, Rosa Blum, in her thick Romanian accent. At 16, after she had been released from Auschwitz concentration camp, Rosa had moved in with her brother in Germany. He had given her some cartons of cigarettes to sell on the black market and make some money. Times were tough after the WWII. One night, when Rosa was feeling down and alone at her brother's apartment, she decided to smoke one and see if that would help. Well, what started as 1 cigarette quickly became an addiction. It didn't end until years later, when cancer and gingivitis had barged into her life! ... Yet, in the midst of it all, he was still willing to give me one more interview. So, we sat down in his living room and began to capture "his legacy" on audio. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In your mind's eye, you'll envision him as you listen to his rich, deep voice point out things like, "Love one another"; "Touch another life"; "Don't put it off"; "The power of presence"... ----------------------------------------------------------- Near the end of our time together on that cool, November day, Harold (or, King Harold, as I called him), quoted a Scripture that fits him so well, "THEIR WORKS DO FOLLOW THEM." ...
