Bella is 'ten turning eleven' on June 30th, and she's a child filled with a love for God, a challenging faith and a faith-filled hope for her friends and her community. And I think that comes in with talking with him as well, after praying with him. And anytime you can pray with him - even if you're sad, happy, too happy - you can talk to him at any time.' In this episode, we hear from passionate writer and advocate Ingrid Goodwin-Barratt - editor of The Salvation Army's War Cry magazine - about her struggle in casting off the shackles of expectation and gender roles, in order to discover who she really is.     In this episode, we hear from Mavis Millar – author, mathematician, sailor and Salvationist soldier for 71 years. Born in 1932, Mavis' love of numbers translated into her studying to be a statistician in the 1950's as one of only two women in her class. Balancing family life and a 200 strong children's ministry, Mavis then gained her Ocean Master's license and has sailed one hundred times across the Cook Strait. She has navigated the entirety of New Zealand, praying from port to port as she went, and speaks with passion about The Salvation Army as a place where she has been called to mission and to be present in community.
