Denise is passionate about creating a space to belong in the transient community of Queenstown, especially for new mums who are far away from family and support.  Other topics include: faith through cancer, hospitality, being the tea lady and finding purpose in retirement. Denise is part of The Salvation Army's Queenstown Corps.

Corps Officer Emma Howan talks about finding God in the stillness after 'speeding through life', and connecting with God face to face as she gets treatment for the Big C.

Bella is 'ten turning eleven' on June 30th, and she's a child filled with a love for God, a challenging faith and a faith-filled hope for her friends and her community. Listen to Bella as she explores the kindness of God and her relationship with Jesus and the church. 'When I need help sometimes he's there for me. And there's luckily a Bible, so I read that. And I think that comes in with talking with him as well, after praying with him. And anytime you can pray with him - even if you're sad, happy, too happy - you can talk to him at any time.' Tūrangawaewae is the Māori word for 'a place to stand, right to belong'. In this episode, we hear from passionate writer and advocate Ingrid Goodwin-Barratt - editor of The Salvation Army's War Cry magazine - about her struggle in casting off the shackles of expectation and gender roles, in order to discover who she really is. Ingrid's experience of finding a place to stand and a voice within The Salvation Army is inspirational, and she urges all women to feel anointed to do the same. Ingrid speaks about the ways God has led her to discover his word and teaching for herself, and how glory will be given to God as we become 'fully alive'.

In this episode, we hear from Mavis Millar – author, mathematician, sailor and Salvationist soldier for 71 years. Born in 1932, Mavis' love of numbers translated into her studying to be a statistician in the 1950's as one of only two women in her class. Balancing family life and a 200 strong children's ministry, Mavis then gained her Ocean Master's license and has sailed one hundred times across the Cook Strait. She has navigated the entirety of New Zealand, praying from port to port as she went, and speaks with passion about The Salvation Army as a place where she has been called to mission and to be present in community.

In this episode we learn from the wisdom of Commissioner Janine Donaldson, a kiwi living in London and international Salvation Army leader. Janine is the Zonal Secretary of Women's Ministries for South Pacific East Asia and newly appointed President for Women's Ministries in Australia. When Gemma experienced a career-ending injury as a competitive swimmer, God directed her steps to a gap in the market, where she began an uncompromisingly ethical fashion label - clothing women in justice all over the world. Gemma sees justice opportunities in the fashion world from the production chain all the way through to giving back to those in need.
