SHOW NOTES: On this show…we are detaching with love as we learn the importance of setting healthly boundaries, explore the many faces of codependency, and understand how to let go without giving up. Have you ever felt like someone else's happiness—or healing—was somehow your responsibility? Like if they were struggling, it meant you had to jump in and fix it, smooth it over, or carry it for them? If that sounds familiar, you might be brushing up against something I've wrestled with myself: codependency. For me, learning to detach with love has been one of the hardest, most freeing lessons in my healing journey. It doesn't come naturally—I'm still working on it every day—but it's opened up a whole new way of understanding relationships and responsibility. Detachment doesn't mean indifference. It doesn't mean cutting people off or shutting your heart down. It means having healthy boundaries that say, “I love you, and I also know that your growth is not mine to manage.” For those of us who think in black-and-white, all-or-nothing terms, detaching without guilt can feel impossible. But this work—this shift in mindset—isn't just for people dealing with addiction or dramatic relationship breakdowns. It's for anyone who finds themselves overfunctioning, over-apologizing, or constantly carrying the emotional weight of everyone else. Let's talk about what it means to detach, not with judgment or resentment, but with love. At its core, codependency is about losing yourself in someone else's needs, emotions, or dysfunction. It's an emotional tug-of-war where you believe, often unconsciously, that someone else's stability or growth depends on your constant involvement. You might take on the role of fixer, peacekeeper, rescuer, or even mind-reader. And while your intentions are loving, the results can be exhausting, confusing, and deeply unfulfilling. Now—detaching with love might sound like an emotional paradox. How do you care without carrying? How do you show up for someone without stepping over the line and taking over? Detachment isn't coldness or emotional withdrawal. It's the intentional act of allowing others to face the consequences of their own choices, while protecting your energy, boundaries, and sense of self in the process. Detaching With Love Is Good for Everyone - Sharon Martin, DSW, LCSW Demystifying Co-dependency - S.M. Stray CHALLENGE: Loosen your grip on what was never yours to carry, and instead, hold space—for your growth and theirs. Practice loving with open hands, not clenched fists, trusting that boundaries are not walls, but bridges to healthier relationships. I Know YOU Can Do It!
This week we continue with Mark Chapter 10. For the last couple chapters, Jesus has been traveling with his disciples on their way to Jerusalem for the Passover and ultimately for the big confrontation with the powers that will culminate in his death as he unpacks for his followers what it means for him to be the Messiah. Last week we covered the transfiguration, a story about Jesus healing a demon-possessed boy and a number of teachings from Jesus about the nature of the upside-down value system of the Kingdom. This week Jesus takes his last few steps before his triumphant entry into Jerusalem as he confronts more misconceptions about him and his kingdom from the Pharisees, a rich man, and his followers.

SummaryIn this episode, Chase and Chris talk about why you don't need to be perfect when tracking your food. They share stories from their own journeys and from their clients who thought they had to do everything just right. But really, tracking your meals “most of the time” is what helps you reach your goals. You'll learn how taking small steps, like tracking a few days a week or not worrying about hitting exact numbers, can actually get you further. They talk about making things simple, having meals you repeat, and why being flexible helps you stick with it longer. If you've ever felt like you had to “start over” every week, this episode will help you break that habit and keep going strong.Chapters(00:00) Welcome to Episode 2 of Macros Made Doable(01:10) The Perfectionism Trap in Tracking(02:20) Why One Off-Meal Leads to Giving Up(03:34) Chase's “Perfect Zeros” Story(05:25) Diet Rules and Macro Carryover(06:06) Old Beliefs About Perfection and Resetting(07:04) Shifting the Mindset: B-Minus Effort(08:27) Taking a Day Off from Tracking (the Right Way)(09:56) How to Dine Out Without Derailing Progress(11:56) What Untracked Days Should Look Like(12:58) Flexible Tracking Plans for Long-Term Clients(14:05) Repeat Meals = Simpler Tracking(14:59) Using Macros as a GPS, Not a Rulebook(15:28) Start with Weekday Tracking(15:42) Stepping Stones Over All-or-Nothing(17:06) Reducing Stress by Ditching Perfection(18:02) The Burnout and Restart Cycle(19:38) Macros as Just Data(21:48) Letting Go of the Weekly Weigh-In Pressure(22:34) Cruise Control vs. 150 MPH: A Client Story(24:01) Why Going Slower Can Mean More Progress(25:00) Sneak Peek: Real Client Story in Part 3SUBMIT YOUR QUESTIONS to be answered on the show: https://forms.gle/B6bpTBDYnDcbUkeD7How to Connect with Us:Chase's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/changing_chase/Chris' Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/conquer_fitness2021/Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/665770984678334/Interested in 1:1 Coaching: https://conquerfitnessandnutrition.com/1on1-coachingJoin The Fit Fam Collective: https://conquerfitnessandnutrition.com/fit-fam-collective

When a Great Idea Doesn't Get a Second Chance This is another one of my What Went Wrong? conversations, and I love these because we all have ideas that don't turn out the way we hoped. Sometimes, they're just bad ideas. Other times, we give up too soon. That's exactly what happened to Nina Froriep, who had a smart, scalable concept for video production—but abandoned it after a rough first attempt. Years later, she watched someone else build a thriving business using the same model. What Happened Nina came up with the idea of a video assembly—a streamlined production process where multiple business owners could shoot professional videos in a single session, saving time and costs. It seemed like a brilliant, efficient approach. She lined up her first participants, booked a location, and prepped everything. Then reality hit. Clients showed up late, skipped the pre-work, or ignored the schedules entirely. The result? Chaos. A few usable videos, a ton of frustration, and an idea that never got a second chance. Key Takeaways from Our Conversation: Preparation Sets the Stage for Success – Nina assumed experienced business owners would come prepared, but they didn't. In hindsight, she realized they needed more structured guidance before the shoot, including clear deadlines and rehearsals. Investment Creates Commitment – The low-cost nature of the offer meant clients weren't as invested. If they had paid more—or had to complete the required pre-work—they might have taken it more seriously. Persistence Matters – Nina scrapped the idea after one frustrating attempt, only to realize later that it could have worked with some adjustments. Success often comes from iteration, not perfection on the first try. Timing Can Be Everything – Sometimes, an idea is solid, but the execution or the market isn't quite ready. A little patience and a few tweaks can make all the difference. Learn From the First Failure—Then Try Again – Instead of assuming the concept was doomed, Nina could have analyzed what went wrong, adjusted, and given it another shot. Many great ideas need a few failed attempts before they take off. The Bottom Line: Just because something doesn't work the first time doesn't mean it won't work at all. The real trick is knowing when to refine and try again versus when to walk away.

According to the Office for National Statistics, the number of smokers in the UK is estimated at 6.6 million. The proportion has been steadily dropping for years now. Given the health risks, you'd think smokers would be delighted to give up, but the prospect of putting on weight is a cause of concern for many. To be fair, it i's a well-founded fear to some extent. In 2014, Addiction journal reported that the average prevalence of weight gain after quitting smoking was 80%. In such cases, the average weight gain is 5 - 10lb. Of course, putting on a few pounds is far less dangerous than continuing to smoke, so the choice to quit should still be a no-brainer. Nevertheless, let's delve deeper into the post-quitting weight gain phenomenon. What effects do cigarettes have on the body? It must be difficult not to start compulsive eating, mustn't it? Jeremiah 17: 5-8 This week RMC's Miguel Cruz preached the sermon in Spanish. The English voice you will hear is that of the live translator in the sanctuary. Due to the nature of the recording tech, there is some residual audio of Miguel's voice in the background. ** Preaching from Jeremiah, Miguel asks us to test and examine ourselves deeply when we ask the question: where does our help come from when encounter injustice, strife, and hostility in the world? If our answer is that we rely on our own power, skills, and intellect to confront these modern ills and idols, we almost certainly doom ourselves to perpetual dissatisfaction, even if our desires are righteous. We must realize that we owe every ability we have and every good thing we might do to God's goodness and mercy. The scriptures say that our hope comes from the Lord, and that means allowing God lead us instead of relying on our own strength. By giving up, we win.
