Building your tribe or your online community has never been more important. Today we'll look at building it the right way with a solid, meaningful foundation that will attract the right people. Host of the Dark Horse Entrepreneur podcast, Tracy Brinkmann, is here to share his journey from student to teacher. Recently going through a clearing exercise, Tracy tapped into a repressed memory from when he was 14. His dad had just retired from the Army and they left their structured, routined life for liberal Southern CA. It was a culture shock for Tracy and he never felt accepted there. He didn't realize it at the time, but this caused Tracy to harbor a lot of resentment, and that led to a lot of bad choices as a teenager. Moving forward, Tracy attempted to buy acceptance. He made money installing car stereos and painting cars. When money was low, Tracy was no stranger to doing shady stuff to make money. Of course this caused him to fall in with shady people, and the rest is a slippery slope. Right out of high school, Tracy made the decision to join the military where he would spend the next 6 years. When he got out, he started a computer programming company, and 8 months in landed a big client. While out celebrating, Tracy confided in the bar owner that he was stressed about how he would handle this big project. The bar owner told him he had something that could help, and introduced Tracy to meth. Next thing Tracy knew, he wasn't just doing meth, but selling it to pay for his habit. Eventually Tracy would get busted by the police. As he sat at the jail, Tracy could hear his fathers voice saying, ‘family first'. With a 3 month old daughter at home, Tracy knew he needed to make a change. Moving in with his mom, Tracy started over. He ended up landing a corporate job at Coca Cola that would turn into a 12 year career. Towards the beginning of his career, baby number two came along. Unfortunately she was born with birth defects and passed away. Tracy knew he couldn't hide his pain in substances, so instead he threw himself into personal development to cope. Not only did he go to all the events, Tracy actually implemented what he learned there. He noticed that as soon as he started consistently taking action, things started to happen for him. Getting 3 promotions in 5 years, people wondered what Tracy's secret was. He started to share what he had learned, adding his own unique take on things, and people ate it up. This started Tracy's coaching path. He says he just loves vibing with people on their expertise. He believes if you listen with any level of interest, you'll learn something from other people's passion and knowledge. Helping others to turn their entrepreneurial dreams into a reality is very fulfilling for Tracy, and something he plans to do for a long time through his Dark Horse Entrepreneur Schooling. What You'll Learn: What skills you can develop by moving a lot as a child. What drew Tracey to entrepreneurship. How different environments affect our energy. Why it's so important to listen to your gut feelings. Believe it or not, there's a right way to tell a fundraising story. And by fundraising story, I mean a story that you're using to raise money for your non-profit. A fundraising story needs the right story structure to connect with the audience, demonstrate need, and invite the audience to get involved by making a donation. Individual donors can give with shocking levels of generosity when they're deeply moved by stories. That's just what your organization needs in order to grow! But chances are, you didn't get your job because you're already a storytelling expert. In fact, you may struggle to find stories you think your donors would find interesting. You might not be at all confident that you can write them well. The good news? You can change all that.My guest this week is Vanessa Chase Lockshin, a consultant specializing in non-profit storytelling, fundraising and communications, author of The Storytelling Non-Profit: A practical guide to telling stories that raise money and awareness, and the creator of immersive online training programs for non-profit professionals. Arthur Smith took accountability for his decision to run the ball on Sunday. He defended it the right way as well. But he is also one of the smartest coaches in the league and knew that he could take advantage of what the Washington Commanders were doing defensively. He was right in that sense, but it just didn't work out. I still don't think there's any reason to question Smith as the right guy for this team. Next, The Georgia Bulldogs are making this SEC Championship match-up with the LSU Tigers personal. And they should. It's crazy to think for all the success that UGA has had, they've only won one SEC championship. Lastly, the Atlanta Hawks are hitting a stretch of their schedule that is supposed to be easy. But the Hawks are making it difficult on themselves. Also, Mark Zinno handed out a Shovel of Wisdom. And GO USA! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

What exactly is stability and how does it impact our running? Stability allows us to transform strength into speed. The good news is that building stability doesn't require hours of strenuous workouts - most of what we need can be accomplished in a few short sessions. This week's podcast guest has a Masters of Physical Therapy and is a board certified sports clinical specialist. Jay Dicharry is an author, innovator and coach who has built an international reputation as an expert in biomechanical analysis. Jay has written 2 books many runners may be familiar with: Anatomy for Runners and Running Rewired. Jay is also the inventor of the MOBO board, a tool that helps you build stability in multiple planes of motion. The board is unique in how it teaches you to drive your big toe into the ground - an essential concept in creating a more stable foundation for your running. Use code STRENGTHRUN10 to save 10% on your MOBO Board! In our discussion, Jay and I focus on the importance of stability and how to build it in your running and daily life. We address: How injury is more impacted by stability than strength What it means to “drive the big toe” into the ground Why stability is the foundation of training (& why you can't fire a cannon from a canoe!) How a lack of balance and stability can impact us as we age The importance of varying your footwear Why and how to implement stability-focused workouts into your routine Jay's expertise and ability to translate complex concepts into actionable advice is sure to benefit your running, Enjoy! Links & Resources from the Show: Learn more about the MOBO board (Code STRENGTHRUN10 saves 10%) Visit Jay's website Follow Jay on Instagram Visit Jay on Linked in and YouTube Listen to our previous discussion on pain free running Thank you MOBO Board! Invented by renowned physical therapist Jay Dicharry, MOBO helps you stabilize your stance with an innovative rocker board that's set up on two fins. The design effectively forces you to drive your big toe into the bboard to improve your stability. I was pretty arrogant going into my first session on the MOBO Board. How hard can it be to balance, right? Well, I was humbled pretty quickly! Even if you're a good runner, better balance, stability, and proprioception is going to help you have a more powerful stride and prevent more running injuries. You'll learn how to improve the efficiency of the kinetic chain from your hip to your big toe. Because as Jay likes to say, it's not just how strong you are, but how well you use that strength. Save 10% with code STRENGTHRUN10 at checkout at moboboard.com. Thank you Elemental Labs! A big thanks to Elemental Labs for their support of this episode! They make electrolyte drinks for athletes and low-carb folks with no sugar, artificial ingredients, or colors. And you can get a free sampler pack of 4 flavors and 8 individual packets when you pay $5 in shipping. Elemental Labs' products have some of the highest sodium concentrations that you can find. Anybody who runs a lot knows that sodium, as well as other electrolytes like magnesium and potassium, are essential to our performance and how we feel throughout the day. The citrus flavor has quickly become my favorite. I'm drinking one a day now to help me get enough fluids in our dry Colorado air. It's tasty and delicious and I find that I'm not peeing every 45 minutes throughout the day, which might be an indication I wasn't eating enough sodium. There's now mounting evidence that higher sodium intake levels are not unhealthy – and athletes need substantially more than your typical sedentary person. Of course, ask your doctor if you're worried. But for those athletes running outside in the heat, an electrolyte replacement makes a lot of sense. So check out Elemental Labs to try their new flavor or get a free sampler pack.

It's #BlackFridayParking week at Strong Towns, which means we've got a special parking-related episode of the Upzoned podcast today. Host Abby Kinney, co-host Chuck Marohn, and special guest Edward Erfurt (director of community action at Strong Towns) come together to discuss three stories from three different cities—Burlington, Vermont; Nashville, Tennessee; and Cambridge, Massachusetts—all of which are taking big steps to eliminate parking minimums. And in some cases, the cities are even looking at establishing parking maximums! Does it make sense for cities to have a blanket policy on parking, one way or the other? How can communities have these conversations about parking, especially when there are people—residents and developers alike—who argue and push back against parking reform? ADDITIONAL SHOW NOTES “Burlington may eliminate parking minimums for builders city-wide. Here are the possible effects,” by Lilly St. Angelo, Burlington Free Press (October 2022). “Bill to Eliminate Minimum Parking Requirements to Go Before Council,” by Connor Daryani, Nashville Scene (November 2022). “Cambridge eliminates minimum parking requirements,” by Kaushar Barejiya, The Massmedia (November 2022). Thanksgiving is all about showing gratitude, but sometimes we forget to do it with some of the people we see every day: our co-workers. Sara Algoe, who studies social interactions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is director of the Love Consortium, gives us a crash course in the best practices for showing appreciation and explains why saying thanks is as important for the person giving it as it is for the person receiving it. And we hear from Jacob Coite, who has made an art out of showing appreciation to the people he works with. Send us your stories about work and careers! We often pray to Goddess Lakshmi for Prosperity but little do we know that her name originates from the word 'Lakshya' which means goals. So basically, she actually leads us to achieve our goals. But we often have vague goals and that acts as an obstruction. In this episode, Ashdin shares some tips on how to set goals in a way that they are crisp and clear, and make a realistic plan to achieve the same with blessings from the goddess herself. The process includes clearly stating what is to be achieved, quantifying it, giving a deadline, and checking what emotion gets associated with it. Further, strategising the whole thing by populating it with tasks that enable progress, skills that add value, and people that act as catalysts. And last but not the least, praying and by doing so, affirming it. Here's the thing about most marketing strategies...They pretty much all work. What I've found from myself (and with working with LOADS of biz owners)...Is that people normally give up before they've given the strategy a chance. Now if you use Facebook to generate leads...Chances are you've seen 2 step bait posts...A LOT. Why? Well, they're extremley effectife at stroking everyone's lizard brain. What I mean by that is...A good bait post knows how to trigger a primal want from the zombie scroller. The thing with these posts though is...You need to know how to follow up correctly in the DM's.How you open that first message is absolutely crucial. And if you do it the wrong way, don't expect anyone to reply or sign up or whatever.I once had a post with 200 comments, and only 4 followed through with what they asked for. It's all in that initial message and in this episode I walk you through what I've found is the right way to open that conversation.============================This episode is brought to you by our paid sponsonser that has nothing to do with the podcast...Lol. Kidding, it's brought to you by ME.Check out my YouTube channel where I talk about everything related to..How to get more customers, make more per customer, and keep them coming back with the power of the pen.I recently dropped a 3 part video series detailing line by line how a VSL I wrote for a client generated $50K.>>>Here's the link to that series playlist.

He is a Microsoft MVP in AI, an ASPInsider, and an author for Pluralsight, Udemy, and Skillshare. His interests include AI, ML, data science, mindfulness, technology education, and tech community leadership. Topics of Discussion: [3:37] How Matthew got into software development and rebranded himself as a data science consultant before going independent as a consultant. Now, he is in the process of rebranding as an AI consultant, rather than a data science consultant, still with a foundation in data science. [4:41] What exactly is AI? [6:23] Matthew discusses what a traveling salesman is. [9:15] Matthew sorts out the difference between AI and ML for us. [10:35] Artificial intelligence typically includes a bunch of other tools, in addition to machine learning. [11:11] We now have more enhanced versions of machine learning that fall under the umbrella of AI, like deep learning, and reinforcement learning, which are all built on top of the idea of machine learning. [12:12] What are the levels of education that should exist within an organization? [14:49] What can be automated now that used to not be able to be automated? [19:03] How GitHub co-pilot can help. [20:14] What is an AI Factory, and why are people arguing over it? [21:32] If we can eliminate our busy work, we can essentially get models built quicker, get data science done quicker, and get things automated quicker. [22:20] The DevOps platform. [27:40] One of the biggest questions that remain with AI is if we end up with more jobs created as a result of artificial intelligence than are eliminated by it. [31:32] Okay, let's say how to pronounce data correctly. Mentioned in this Episode: Architect Tips — New video podcast!
