Like a book club but for films. A book but not books but films and maybe TV eventually club. With beers!
This film was suggested to us by a listener, the lovely Adam Trigg! And what a bloody good suggestion it was. Is this film good? More than any other we've done I think that's up to the individual watching it. One thing it definitely is, is finely crafted. Made with tons of attention and care. Packed to the brim with talent. Much like this podcast, which ends with a twenty minute chat about frankfurters and RuneScape.
We talk for ten minutes about traffic in this and it's more entertaining than this entire film. Every star wars film we watch we hate the franchise more and more. Like honestly is star wars actually that good as a whole? Or have we all just been conned into loving it so they can continue to sell us branded shit? Speaking of which stick around for a fun section at the end about our favourite star wars toys!
You could cut the tension with a knife... And that's just the room as we recorded! Matt finally gets a little revenge for the Ghostbusters episode and handles it with class. We all had a great conversation about this film/long episode of Breaking Bad no matter how wrong Matt was... Hey man, when you start writing the descriptions for episodes you can control the narrative. History is written by the social media manager...BREAKING BAD IS THE BEST TELEVISION SHOW EVER MADE. GODDAMN YOU FOR SAYING OTHERWISE!
It's time to get wet! What can be said about this film? If you're into this sort of thing, you'll possibly enjoy it. If you're a bit tired of the superhero barrage, this will further exhaust you. As did recording this episode as I laughed most of the way through it. My face hurt! Make sure to stick around till the end where we form our own justice League to absolutely no success at all. We'd still make a billion at box office though so I dunno, Warner Bros get in touch!
Staying ever relevant, this week we're reviewing the M. Night Shyamalan spooky sci fi thriller Signs! I gotta say this is probably my favourite one we've done. We're all finally on the same page! All it took was this strange, strange film. Slow but captivating, eventful but also almost nothing happens, deadly serious...strangely timed joke. It's weird man! But I can honestly say I really enjoyed scary movie 3...and Signs. I like both! Is there a difference? Not in my mind. We're not so different after all.
Bright sunshine, colourful flowers, friendly Swedish people. These are the ingredients to this horror film. Now when I say horror film I don't mean your typical monster/slasher flick. No spooky ghosts or creepy haunted houses. Just unending sunlight shone upon some truly horrific scenes. I won't spoil anything as if you've got the stomach you should give it a watch. If however you don't have that morbid curiosity, our review is considerably more light-hearted. So do some heavy breathing and jump in...off a cliff.
No, you're not hearing things. We do discuss football for a whole ten minutes. Don't feel too bad for Matt after he talks about how much he'd love it if we win the euro finals, he was definitely too drunk to remember it. Love and Monsters! It's family friendly zombie land (and a bunch of other films) and not overly original, however it is refreshing to have something that is not rude, crude or depressing. Plus me and Callum have got sequels for days. Netflix hit us up. Hang about to the end to hear the noise Matt makes as he transforms into a whale...
We're back baby! It's a colossal offering for our first episode this season (cause dinosaurs are big?) With the 4th film in the Jurassic Park franchise, Jurassic World. Will watching dinosaurs escape their cages and eat unsuspecting, hard-working, everyday people like you and me ever get boring? No, apparently not. No matter how stupid the situation, it's a situation we wanna watch. Hopefully you've got enough teeth for this one....such a stupid line. P.s. enjoy our new musical segment! P.s.s. this will be our last musical segment.
The grand finale of season 1 of the Tipsy Sloth Podcast. We've absolutely loved making this and are so grateful to all of you who have tuned in and listened to what is, quite literally with this episode, fully grown men laughing at their own farts. So enjoy this final final section where we discuss last meals, do a cheeky quiz and possibly permanently damage our bodies with some very spicy chocolate buttons. Expect some crying.
Finally some good fucking films. Special one this week. We've chosen one of our fave directors and are creating the top 5 of their work, and when the film's are as good as these it can be real hard. So listen as we laugh, rage, relentlessly quote and rate Shaun of the dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, Scott pilgrim Vs the world and Baby driver. We also talk about the trailer for Edgar wrights brand new film! We are in lesbian's with Edgar so nice break from our usual hour long moans.
This film was....strange. It's difficult to pin down. Probably because of how many random concepts are shoved into it. Alien hybrids? You got it. Robot zombies? Sure. Time loops? Why not. Zombie sex? Off screen, but assumedly so yeh. It's a mess but we try to make some sense of it. So grab your giant saw (you probably won't need it) and tear into this film with us.
This week we all learnt how severely nostalgia has an effect on your memory of a film and how watching them without the rose tinted glasses of being a stupid child is something you shouldn't do. Boy this film is crazy boring. Thank God (or Anikin himself seen as he's literally Jesus apparently?) for podracing and Darth maul. The film may be boring but our podcast episode isn't so strap in for a journey to a galaxy far far away. "That's podcasting".
Today we're talking about the romantic comedy time loop flick Palm Springs starring Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti!
If you absolutely love the pop culture classic Ghostbusters, just like Matt does, this might make you angry. I'd let you skip this one but we need the numbers so feel free to put your fingers in your ears as Callum squats above the film in preparation.
This is a long one. We struggled to contain ourselves ripping into this cash grab. You pull a thread and the whole thing falls apart. If you enjoyed this film then, well...I dunno what to tell you. I'm sorry. Also! I say Ty is in Stanford prison experiment at one point and get told I'm wrong. But I'm not wrong Callum and Matt. I'm not wrong. So screw you guys.
Yeh go on then. Bought to life by a great cast such as Raiin Wilson and Wyatt Russell? With elements of dark comedy and twists aplenty? A quirky, non linear, crime thriller? Do you want to watch shimmer lake? (This is backwards on purpose because of the film, don't @ me saying it needs fixing)
What's scarier? A witch from South Sudan that can haunt you with your worst nightmares every waking moment? Or the general British public? I can tell you which one I've had more run ins with. Join us as we discuss this new twist on the classic haunted house format. Stick around till the end to hear Luke's idea for a new world order.
A trailer is supposed to sell a product to you....we made this instead.
Bored of the pandemic? Tough! Listen to us talk about the scary accuracies, stupid government and Jude laws teeth in the pandemic blockbuster Contagion.
