Welcome back to TruckinNutz! It's season 2, with the same dude, same ideas but now with more Freedom! What I've been doing since I last talked to you I did record 3 episodes of Break19 Podcast with the boys. It was fun and we really wanted to do more but trying to get 4 drivers all together to actually record a high quality audio/video podcast together is a real pain in the ass. Especially when 3 of them operate in a different time zone. So they are back doing their thing and have started a YouTube channel called The RatchetJaw Podcast. They are very funny and great guys so I urge you to go subscribe and watch them. They haven't officially put out a full episode yet but they will soon. I promise. Also I would be remis if I didnt mentiona and give a shoutout to my good friend Radioman. Go listen to his podcast on Anchor.fm You can also find him on Bitchute. He puts out daily shows on both platforms! But be warned he does get political sometimes, where I dont. I went and did some exploring of an alternative universe in ethos. It's called The Fediverse and you can find out about it by exploring my site. - I ran across it by accident by reading about how much info Google and other mega companies have on everybody. - I joined Mastodon. - Had my own server and hosted all my stuff. - Same server died but I'm still on the Fediverse - I'm involved in 2 open source Fediverse projects, Funkwhale and Socialhome - I started another podcast The Self Hosted Podcast about the Fediverse. - I'm now what we are referring to as a "semi local" driver. Meaning that I run locally when we have a bunch of local stuff to do but still do the longer regional runs when needed. What to expect from here on out - TruckinNutz itself probably wont be any different than season 1. - Since I am doing the semi local stuff I am hanging out at the yard more. So I may be teaching some people around here how to do a podcast for the company. Maybe even set up a server for them to have our own Socialhome or Moodle since we do run a driving school as well. - I may even have some "experts" from our safety department on to talk about stuff. - Have other drivers on to hang out and have fun You drivers need to know The Trucker Path app. That great wonderful app that helps us accomplish our jobs on a daily basis. It tells us where the weigh stations, truck stops low bridges, tire shops, etc. I use it just to find out whether weigh station are open or closed. Well did you know that app has 32 trackers and requires 20 permissions in order to run? And did you know that those are not reduced by any means if you pay them for the monthly subscription to remove the ads? Why the hell does that app need to have 32 fucking trackers? Why because the developer baked those in and is selling your info they gain to advertisers!!!!! YOU ARE A HUGE PRODUCT TO THEM!!! Save your data and privacy delete the app and spend $80 on a cb radio. You will get much more reliable and up to date info from it! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/TruckinNutz/support

Check fluid levels: oil and coolant levels. For the pre trip, look for oil, fuel, coolant, power steering fluid leaks… leak is either a problem or a potential problem. Make sure caps are tight for the rad, oil filler, power steering fluid and the dip stick is seated properly. Observe at the engine block. Check for leaks, fluid running down the side of the engine. Look at the hoses. Check for wear, cracking or fraying. Inspect fan belts for proper tension and signs of wear. Take a look at the engine fan. Make sure there are no pieces out of any of the blades. Look for any exposed or bare wires, or wires which appear out of place. It doesnt hurt to just grab wires and hoses to to a small tug to make sure they dont pop off. Just dont yank on them like you are trying to pull them off. Check windshield wiper fluid level. Scan steering axle tires for uneven wear, nails, chunks, etc. Take a look at the shock absorbers, ball joints and king pins for wear and proper lubrication. Observe all tires on your rig as well as the trailer. Visually inspect the airlines and electrical cord, to ensure they are properly connected Visually check the 5th wheel to make sure it’s coupled to the trailer Brake pads. Look for good thickness. Brake adjustment indicators. Look for proper positioning. Look over the entire unit thoroughly for body or structure damage. Start the truck (if it isnt running) Depress the clutch and start the engine. ( in neutral) Observe gauges to be sure oil pressure is good and electrical system in charging Gently ease the clutch out slowly and carefully, just in case there’s a problem (if you do this too quickly, you could launch yourself across the parking lot). Do not high idle the truck right away. Let it idle normally. Glance at the gauges again to ensure all is ok and air pressure is building. Turn on all lights and flashers and exit the vehicle. Do a visual of the motor, looking for leaks Observe belts for proper tension and that they are turning properly Close the hood and lock it down. Circle check the vehicle again Be certain all lights are working. In the truck, use a piece of wood or find a way to depress the brake pedal, so the operation of the exterior lights can be checked Listen for air leaks as you walk around the unit. Remove the block of wood from the pedal, turn off lights not needed. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/TruckinNutz/support

A flat bed may also have a “tarp system” which consists of aluminum frame with a tarp attached to the frame. There are also a type of tarp system that has a portable plywood sidewall sections that have a tarp stretched over the top of the freight. These are referred to as covered wagons because they resemble the covered wagons of the old west. Dumps . Home time is the hardest. You get home and have to unwind. You don't want to be socialable. You don't want to talk with anybody. Then when you do unwind and are ready to be socialable it's time to get back into trucking mode and the depression and anxiety of having to leave sets in. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/TruckinNutz/support
