Awareness Changes EVERYTHING!Last week we talked about the power of awareness and how to develop the skill of awareness. I believe that awareness should come before we try to make changes. Many times, once we've increased our awareness, things change without us even trying to bring about change. Intentionality is the Next Step. It's powerful to be aware of what's truly going on in your life. Far too often, we realize that things are not going how we would like them to, and we jump straight into trying to change things. Now that we've developed some awareness, we can start to identify things that we would like to change. From last week's exercise of developing awareness around your thoughts, feelings, and unintentional models, you now have a greater awareness of what is really going on. Now being intentional is the next step. Now that you've identified your unintentional thoughts, feelings, actions, and results, you can start becoming intentional with your model. Intention Impacts Who We AreLast week we talked about how simply changing the action doesn't create lasting change and how it's so important to develop awareness before trying to make changes. Most of the time, after temporarily changing our actions, we go right back to being who we used to be. Last week we used the example weight loss. Usually, people don't take the time to understand exactly what is going on or developing an awareness of what's going wrong. Instead, they jump right into a new diet or exercise program. They might experience temporary results, but without awareness, the real issue usually takes over again. You go right back to being who you were before because your identity never changed. Now that we have have the awareness, rather than simply changing what we do, we want to intentionally change who we are!Someone who is extremely physically fit isn't that way simply because they exercise regularly or because they eat healthily. Instead, they exercise regularly and eat healthy because they ARE someone who is physically fit. Simple Steps to Develop Intention and Identity#1 Do Daily Thought Downloads#2 Explore Who You Want to Be and How They'd Think #3 Explore Who You Want to Be and How They'd Feel#4 Do Unintentional and Intentional Models to Create Your Results#5 Be Intentional and Patient Give it some time. Be willing to practice, and practice, and practice. Continue gaining awareness, start making decisions intentionally, and practice living in alignment with your intentional model. This is changing who you are as a parent and how you show up in the world. This will take practice and time.Call to ACTION!Join Firmly Founded Parent, our monthly membership helping parents become the parents that their teens love and respect.Get on a FREE consultation call with me today to see how you can stop pushing your teen away and start connecting with them right where they are. On this week's episode, Harvey and Austin have a unique conversation around the idea of energy. Specifically, that there is a fundamental problem or misunderstanding about how the brain and body communicate based on available energy and energy efficiency. In fact, most Americans - even the majority of professional athletes - are metabolically inefficient. The duo discusses how energy is a feedback loop for survival (most of us are in survival mode) and decision making, as well as how the body will conserve energy at all costs when a person's energy systems are not efficient. This will lead our brain to only let the body spend energy when we "feel like it" a.k.a. highly motivated. The guys finish by explaining how our best self can be unlocked for abundance and vitality only through harnessing our energy - which is heavily understood through the mechanisms of breathing. Today's conversation may be helpful for any person who feels the desire to grow, yet is not finding the growth they had in mind - whether it's mental, physical, emotional, or even interpersonal. Greetings Gunn Runner Pub Songs Podcast on the charts. New singles gaining traction. Coffee with the Celtfather is back. And finishing up the Selcouth CD. And a rant on voting. It's all on Celtfather Monthly, show #269 Before we start, I want to remind you to register to vote. It looks in most states, you have until about October 5th to register, but it does vary. And just because you think you're registered, does not mean you are. Georgia has a lawsuit against it because there were over 200,000 people illegally purged from the voting record. Go to vote.org to check your registration and to register. 0:36 - PODCASTS Four episodes of the Irish & Celtic Music Podcast were released in September, including a Celtic Women's special for Halfway to St Patrick's Day. I had a lot of great comments about that episode. Coming up is a Celtic Fusion episode and a Samhain or Celtic Halloween episode. I'm still debating how to theme the show. The first episode of the Pub Songs Podcast in September was a performance I recorded for Virtual Dragon Con. It was a fun show. Though as always, it's weird doing shows without audiences who respond. But I feel like I'm getting good at it. At the end of the month, the Pub Songs Podcast topped the Music Commentary Charts on Apple Podcasts. That's because I did the first big push I've done for the show in a LONG time. It was all a part of the Hobbit Day show I released on Sept 22. It features hobbit songs as well as the second single from the Dancing With Hobbits album I'm recording with Sam Gillogly. It's called "Brandywine River Reel". I feel like that was a good episode where I share my love of hobbit origin story. I created a couple themes for the October shows. One is about coming together. And the other is Firefly-related in time for the single release of "Tough Times" which I hope to get done before the election. It's also time to start thinking about the Celtic Christmas Podcast again. I know that sounds early for you. But in the music biz, bands should start submitting Christmas music tracks to radio and such in October. So that's one thing I hope to start on next month. 2:39 - VIDEOS I released several new video singles this month. There's one for "Whiskey in the Jar". This one is just me and the autoharp. It seemed like a good idea for a video to record since I released a single at the beginning of the month too. Another features two toy sheep I got for my daughters last summer. It's called "Sinead & Saoirse at Killarney National Park" and features the music of "Hobbit Hornpipe". The videos are all from my Celtic Invasion of Dingle last summer. We had a side trip to Killarney which was a lot of fun. And got silly too! My favorite video was "Lords of the Run". I go running with a couple friends 2-3 times per week. We decided to run in costume on the Saturday of Dragon Con to celebrate the Dragon Con parade that didn't happen this year. It was SO MUCH FUN to record. The video also features the music of "Brandywine River Reel". Coffee with The Celtfather is BACK for Season 7. This time it's on YouTube every Thursday at noon eastern. So far, I am feeling really good about the move from Facebook. Most of my regular viewers made the transition. The time seems better. Attendance feels up. And those who watch actually stick around (unlike on Facebook). Oh! As a cool bonus, I have themes for many shows. I've no problem coming with theme ideas too because of all the singles I'm releasing. So woohoo!!! I also am now notifying Coffee fans every Thursday via email. If you haven't signed up, please do so! 5:06 - IN THE STUDIO Last month, I scheduled 12 different singles I planned to release. I have new tracks coming out every 2-3 weeks through January. So far, the results are encouraging. I'll tell you more about the stats in a wee bit. But each of my singles is doing better and better. This test is looking very positive. Meanwhile, I'm still working on my next CD Selcouth. I have three new songs finished. But I still have some big tracks I need to finish recording. My goal was to release the album to fans by November. I'm starting to doubt whether I will achieve that goal. Songs that need work include: Breathing Bright Side of Everything Genetic Counseling Song By Amazing Grace? Serenity Valley Waltz Kilty Pleasure I'm so proud of all of those tracks. Which is why I find myself coming to a mental block to completing them. But I hope to make more progress tomorrow. 7:11 - MERCH The Sainted Song Hengers Collection is back in my store. This features this year's Irish & Celtic Music Podcast shirt, some pint glasses and more. It's only available for a limited time. I also added some two new USBs: Cats 'n' Celts and Rise of The Celtfather. Oh! And if you're subscribed to my mailing list, you'll get a discount code to save 15% in my store. Shop at magerecords.com. If you're a Brobdingnagian Bards fan, then you might want to pick up one of the last copies of "Songs of Ireland". We have finally almost sold out of that physical CD. I think there's only five copies left. You can get it in the Bards store. 9:12 - CELTIC TRAVEL Join my in 2021 for the Celtic Invasion of Scotland. We're staying in a castle in Helensburgh, Scotland. This is about 20 minutes from the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond. 9:32 - WEBSITES I made several updates in preparation for Halfway to St Patrick's Day to that website. I made sure all the links were updated as well as any new information. I updated lyrics for the Irish Song Lyrics website, including: "We'll Have A Pint", "Everybody Needs A Drinking Song", "Prettiest Hobbit" and "Whiskey in the Jar" since I added a new video. 10:05 - SHOWS PLANNED FOR OCTOBER THURS: Coffee with The Celtfather, YouTube (Season 7) @ 12:00 PM EST OCT 3: Interstellar Ginger Beer & Exploration Co in Alabaster, AL @ 6:00 - 8:00 PM EDT OCT 17: The Lost Druid in Decatur, GA @ 7:00 - 9:00 PM EDT OCT 22: Celtfather Live on YouTube @ 8:00 - 9 PM EDT 12:00 - STATS Mailing list subscribers = 1203 is up from 1171 Celtic Music Magazine = 4008 is up from 4003 YouTube Subscribers = 4790 is up 52 from 4738 Facebook Likes = 3759 is up from 3755 Instagram = 1851 is up from 1838 Spotify followers: 1632 is up 24 from 1608 is up 29 from 1579 # Number of listens on Spotify: 2588 is up from 2280 Latest Spotify Single Stats: "Hobbit Hornpipe" released Aug 26: 801 is up from 18 "Whiskey in the Jar" released Sept 8: 160 "Brandywine River Reel" released Sept 22: 22 Most-popular songs on Spotify: The Widow and the Devil (1.4K), Hobbit Hornpipe (789), Doctor of Gallifrey (469), A-Working in the Garden (251), Hero of Canton (200) Most-popular songs on Amazon Music: Hero of Canton (454), Doctor of Gallifrey (280), The Widow and the Devil (78), Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster (39), Bring Me Home, Boys (39) 16:33 - PATREON Patreon Subscribers: 162 is up from 159 Patreon Monthly Income: $1196 is up from $1178 We'll see what happens to those numbers when I finish this podcast on a rant. Join the Gunn Runners Club on Patreon to support my songwriting. You will step behind-the-scenes with new music, bonus podcasts, videos, and live concerts. 17:32 - RANT ON VOTING At the start of the podcast, I asked you to register to vote. It is absurd to say. But I feel like it's now necessary to encourage you to vote in November. Some people are talking about voting fraud. Some are talking about foreign interference in our elections. Some don't think voting makes a difference. I want to share a few hopefully bipartisan thoughts on the topic. The statistics say that voting fraud is immaterial. Anyone who tells you otherwise is committing voter fraud by making you think your vote doesn't count. It does. So don't believe those liars. We already know that Russia and China are trying to manipulate the outcome of this election. We know that Russia succeeded in the last election. They're using social media to manipulate us. How? They share memes and fake news that appeal to you. And you end up sharing them. My suggestion. Stop. Put a moratorium on sharing news or memes until December. Instead, share who you plan to vote for and why. That said, I will vote for Joe Biden in November. And I will tell you why. I want to bring kindness back to the White House. I want stability. I want a return to Law and Order. Trump promises that but makes things worse Every time. Vice President Biden will do that. He's not the candidate I want. But he's the candidate our country needs. He's a moderate who will actively try to serve ALL Americans. Not just his people. Trump is threatening our Constitution. He said he will refuse to leave office if he loses. That is the definition of a coup. That is treason. And right now, the polls have him with a 22% chance to win. A landslide victory is the only way America will have peace and prosperity back in our nation. It's the only way Trump will willing leave and our country will remain intact. So Yes, I do want you to vote for Joe Biden in November. Our country depends on it. Thank you for supporting Sci F'Irish music at Celtfather.com! #CFMonthly

You read it right! People choose abuse! How? They willfully get into bad relationships. They willfully are blind to the truth, because they want what they want until they find it's not good as they thought it was. There is always another option other than abuse!
How does someone who knows nothing about Marketing start a speaking business from a cold start and build it to a global events-based company? And then, how do they adapt their event-based model when the Pandemic hits, especially when they HATE webinars? That’s precisely what Kane and Alessi Minkus have done. Roland sits with Kane and asks all the right questions in this episode of Business Lunch so that you can glean his keys to success and apply them to your situation. “If you want to have a real leap…it’s really about the way you’re thinking. Start to track and think about your beliefs.” Kane Minkus If you want to hear more from Kane, check out their website. It would also really help us get the word out if you would subscribe and write a review on ApplePodcasts. Listen Today For How they built their ‘empire’ from scratch. How Kane made the leap from the USA to International. His recommendation on taking your business global. Why they look for VOLUME and need a big pool to support their non-conventional business model. Why he’s no-longer ‘selling education’. “We stopped selling education, and that actually was great. I think education is great, but it’s become oversaturated. It’s totally commoditized.” Kane Minkus. How he vets businesses as potential partners. The Surprising Reason for his 30% profit margin. Kane’s TOP 3 Keys To Acceleration: 1. Get obsessed with absolute world-class delivery. 2. Get obsessed with fine-tuning your processes. “I’m very like, you know, OCD about every little thing that goes on.” 3. Get brilliant people on your team or in your corner. “I really understood what it meant to have somebody that was an extraordinary thinker…how important it was to have world-class thinkers on your team”. Kane Minkus. Plus, How They’re Adapting To The Limitations Of The Pandemic • What he’s doing to keep things flowing now that he can’t do in-person events. “Actually as we’ve continued to test and refine, cause we’ve done about eight virtual summits now, we realized that actually, if we just take our offline summit, exactly what we were doing and we put it online exactly the same way that actually it works great.” Kane Minkus • How he overcame his hatred for the classic Webinar and simulated a more LIVE experience for his customers. “I basically built an environment for me that suits my ability to deliver my message and my education in a way that feels right for me.” Kane Minkus • Why they’re in no rush to go back to their prior model (of extreme traveling). “We are in zero rush to get back to live events… we’re going to get very invested in the virtual world. We don’t have a vested interest in going back live at the same volume that we were at all.” Kane Minkus. • His experimentation with pricing structures (and Roland’s suggestion to help him get back to the same ticket prices). “I’ve always had this belief that there are people in the room that get the value of what you’re doing, they get it, whatever it is, and then there’s those that don’t. So, if you price it to try to hit the middle, then you miss where the real value is.” Kane Minkus Kane’s Advice To You Number 1: “Stop looking for tactics and start looking at the whole system of how you’re thinking and what you’re doing and question everything. It’s hard to do totally by yourself, but it’s a start”. Kane Minkus Number 2: Get around people that challenge you. ”One of the first lessons that I got from my coaches in my twenties was, find successful people that believe things differently than you, and then align yourself with their beliefs”. Kane Minkus Number 3: Use your community more. “The people that are most highly successful, they’re not islands. A lot of business owners and entrepreneurs have the ‘hero syndrome’ where they think they’re better if they figure it all out on their own.” Kane Minkus Number 4: Learning happens best when you’re in a community of people at different levels. “It’s essential to be in a tribe where you’ve got people at all different levels, that’s how we learn”. Zombies are a good business model. How? They’re tough. They don’t quit. And most importantly for veteran copywriter Ken Moskowitz, they’re not dead. Ken had a reputation for taking ad copy that didn’t work and turning it into winning words. So when he started his copywriting company, he named it for his trademark skill: bringing ad copy back to life. And, like their namesake, they spread. Ad Zombies has worked for 3,000 agencies and 10,000 SMB’s around the globe, providing copy with interesting angles most agencies never think of, and providing it fast. (OK, zombies aren’t fast, but these are. And really, really good.)

The unique selling point with RSI is that they help companies manage their inventory more efficiently at an affordable price. How? They use their own patented technology that gathers and synthesizes data in a couple of hours. The Holy Spirit came to the place where the disciples were gathered and filled them - just as Jesus said. In the power of the Holy Spirit, the disciples declared the mighty works of God to representatives of every nation under heaven in their native language. In the power of the Holy Spirit, Peter preached to the people there and 3000 were saved. How? They pursued God's will at the expense of their own.

Dr. June talks about how the Illuminati works with the Spirit of Antichrist. They will offer people in and out of the church power and to grant them their hearts desires. However, in the end they have to pay the piper and do what they want. This is happening today with many big ministries. They preached what they wanted for years but the time came when one world religion is coming together that they have to now bend to their will. They got to the top, but they sold their soul to get there. It's same in entertainment industry, etc. 1 John 2 Idol #13 – So appropriate this is the god on the thirteenth day because it is the god of the world in operation against Gods kingdom. The Spirit of Antichrist and Illuminati work together to destroy the advancement of the kingdom of heaven. How? They exalt a person and grant them all their worldly desires based upon the god of self. The Illuminati is a group that controls the world’s communication gates such as music, entertainment, news, etc. They control the agenda the world takes in partnership with the Spirit of Antichrist. They have mind control etc once they control you. People will literally sign their soul over for power, fame, and fortune. They will elevate you and your dream, ministry, career, etc and allow you to do your hearts desire, but when the time comes, they use you to turn those masses that follow you to their Satanic agenda. Many ministers have partnered with this group and you will see their symbols on their stages, logos and in their events. We repent for selling our soul for self-exaltation in this world. We repent for partnering with this spirit. We renounce it: reject it: and turn from our wicked ways! This also works with the Masons/Freemason agenda. It’s the god of self and pride of life.#40daysrepent

Questions? Comments? Want to call BS? Email your hosts at TwentyOne20podcast@gmail.comWhy, at times, does it seem hard to get good ideas from your team? If you’re frustrated that you’re not getting input from your team, you need to look to yourself first.Have you squashed ideas? Failed to set context? Or, have you unintentionally created a status quo culture?Ideas & innovation… that’s the topic for this edition fo the 2120 podcast. It’s the leader’s responsibility to set the table for ideas… You need the right people with the right talents around the table.Set the table by having a dialogue before the meeting to help others prepare for the idea meeting. Most leaders fail to create intentional space for ideas to happen. Think time is undervalued in most workplaces. What can you do to help make meetings where ideas are needed more productive?Look for ways that you, as a leader, create a spark where ideas will occur.Ideas are thrown around all the time… If I believe that people aren’t bringing ideas to me, I have to look at myself first.People are frustrated when they’ve given ideas but nothing happens with them. You have to show people why — or why not — an idea is worth pursuing.Squashing ideas causes people to feel deflated. It leads to them feeling disempowered. When someone brings an idea, don’t kill it by asking “How?” They say, “Wow! Tell me more.” Asking how automatically creates limits and kills further ideation.Even if it’s not the right idea… it may lead to other powerful ideas that lead to a better solution. You can’t halt progress. Let others run with the idea. It’s valuable to understand each other’s Strengths and gifts. The best leaders build teams with people who complement each other. It’s not OK with just being OK… status quo is easy to fall into. One of the greatest threats to success is success. You can lose the edge.If you have a leader that isn’t a driving force to excellence, your team will always be limited. When you hire someone with mad potential, but you don’t push them to greatness, they’ll either become complacent or leave to go somewhere else.

Massachusetts state representatives want to violate freedom of speech. How? They want to ban the usage of the word, “bitch” by fining people and putting them in jail when they get caught using it in public. Meanwhile… There are so many other useful things they could be doing with all of these really expensive resources. They drag and ignore important legislation’s and they make a joke out of everyone by doing this kind of thing. I hope your state is not as embarrassing as Massachusetts.

But as for the main series, we’ve completed joyous episodes on Toy Story, Monsters Inc & Monsters University, A Bug’s Life, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo & Finding Dory, Ratatouille, and Wall-E. For one Mike, Up might be his favorite. For the other, he has a tough decision to make. But both of us are loving these films so much more after further study. When I say this is the final episode, you’ll have to allow me to explain a little bit more. I hope you can bear me talking alone for 52 minutes, and please note: if you’re here for the typical interview content that’s not this (but be sure to check out the backlog of 13 episodes). I’ll let the episode say the rest, but thank you so much for your support and encouragement up to this point. Enjoy!
To launch this new series of podcasts from Life Sciences Hub Wales, we hear from Sir Sam Everington - an innovator in general practice and a leading expert of social prescribing. Social prescribing links patients in primary care with sources of support within their local community in order to improve their health and well being. Social prescribing also encourages patients to take greater control of their own health. “Probably over 70 per cent of people's health and well-being has a whole raft of other factors engaged in it,” Sir Sam tells presenter Sir Mansel Aylward. “The evidence is very clear, for example, that if you have a job you will be healthier. If you get any improvement in your education you will be healthier. If you engage creatively you will be healthier. If you've got a good warm home guess what, you're going to be healthier. And so social prescribing, I often call it as a conspiracy to retrain doctors. It's now - and this is really important - it's what matters to somebody which is really important.” Sir Sam first became a GP in Tower Hamlets in 1989. His transformational approach to preventive and community healthcare in this part of London helped to revolutionise the way primary care is delivered across the UK, eventually leading to his knighthood in 2015. Now chair of Tower Hamlet’s Clinical Commissioning Group and Vice President of the British Medical Association, Sir Sam talks in this podcast about the benefits of social prescribing and some of the major success stories he has seen over the years. “We've got one of our programs - a mental health trust (which) reduced acute admissions by a third. That is stunning. How? They open a cafe seven days a week, staffed by mental health workers. That’s social prescribing.”Chair of Life Sciences Hub Wales, Professor Sir Mansel Aylward, presents this episode of Healthy Thinking.

What is going on everyone, welcome to the 13th episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I was fortunate enough to talk with career coach, teacher, author, speaker and the inspiration for this podcast, Chad Ellsworth. I know I’ve told this story before, but for those of you who don’t know; Chad taught a class that I was in called “Career Skills” where we learned everything from job interview skills to LinkedIn formatting. This class got me thinking about the unformalized nature of our careers and education, and how there was a gap in our ability to learn about specific professions because they just aren’t taught in school. I started the podcast by telling Chad this story, and then we got into what I believe to be the most valuable content about college, jobs and life that I’ve had the privilege of sharing. We touch on everything from how to pick the right career (or if there even is such a thing), the value going and not going to college, how to deal with a dissonance of interests and career, his new book on heroic leadership and so much more. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to navigate your own professional lives and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.

Smart Agency Masterclass with Jason Swenk: Podcast for Digital Marketing Agencies
Do you wish you could future-proof your agency? Want to land more agency clients and retain them longer? The agency industry is ever-changing but you can create an evergreen marketing agency by going back to the basics. Some of the best practices from the Mad Men era still apply today! Check out these strategies from an agency founder who's been in the business since the 1980's. In today's episode, we'll cover: Why you should focus on the client's internal storytelling. 2 ways to land big accounts and retain them longer. The best way to future-proof your marketing agency. Today, I talked with Peter Cimoroni — Founder and CEO of Razor Marketing with 3 offices across the country. Peter has been in the agency space for over 4 decades! It was a completely different world back then. So, how did Peter keep growing and scaling year-after-year? How does an old-school marketer survive the digital age? With strategy and persistence, of course... Why You Should Focus on the Client's Internal Storytelling As an agency, you're a storyteller. We do that for our clients' brands all the time. Whether you do video, paid ads, or SEO or whatever the case may be; you're trying to tell the story of the brand. But, what about the client's internal story? All of those ads and SEO tricks help tell prospects a brand's story. But, who is telling their employees the story? Peter believes that not only does adding internal storytelling boost your deliverables, but it can be a huge boost for businesses. How can you package those video services to make them valuable internally? Sure, you shoot paid ad videos, but what about shooting internal team-building videos for your clients? If you can find a way to offer brands internal and external storytelling, you'll be able to service two of their needs and boost your bottom-line. That's a win-win! 2 Ways to Land Big Accounts and Retain Them Longer Peter's agency has 8 full time people and they don't hustle looking for new clients all the time. How? They have landed and retained some big clients that provide consistent revenue. Here are Peter's two biggest tips to score big clients and keep them: Have processes. The best way to keep cash flowing and retain big clients is to develop killer processes. Developing strategies can help you automate some of your client acquisition. If you have step-by-step methods for dealing with certain deliverables, you don't have to waste brain space on each client. Make it a no-brainer when it comes to deliverables so your team can focus on the areas they really need to -- such as retaining those big clients. Plus, with automations and systems you'll be able to offer predictability and consistency. Help other entrepreneurs. As strange as it sounds, being helpful to other entrepreneurs can pay off. Not only does it build long-lasting relationships that could potentially flourish into partnerships, but it gives you a sense of self-worth or fulfillment you can't get elsewhere. Here's the best thing, helping entrepreneurs can build relationships and open doorways that may not be open otherwise. The Best Way to Future-Proof Your Agency Peter and I started our agencies in different eras of marketing but we both found ways to future-proof the business. So, how do you keep an agency growing strong for ten or event twenty years in the future? Persistence! I know, it sounds a little corny but, there are tons of strategies out there helping you become forward-thinking. The truth is, you don't know what's around the corner. You have to be willing to fail and keep going. Peter said he has learned more from his 6 startup failures than his 3 successes. The only real way to WIN is to keep at it. Sure, there may be times where throwing in the towel makes sense. But, if you can be persistent, you'll win eventually. Additionally, Peter says to re-evaluate your processes on an annual basis. Don't settle for the "this is the way we've always done it" mantra. Instead, check-on and improve upon your systems and processes every year. Chances are, as technology and team members change your processes will need updated as well. There's always a better, faster, easier way of doing things -- and that itself is a great way to future-proof your agency. Want to know where the agency industry is head? What is going on everyone, welcome to the 12th episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and the other week I was able to sit down with a social media guru, coach, consultant, influencer and founder of Twin Cities Collective, Jenna Redfield. Jenna was very gracious with her time and allowed me to pick her brain on anything and everything social, free of charge! This episode is jam packed with value from beginning to end, and acts almost as a mini consultation session. We cover everything from how Jenna grew a hyper-engaged following of over 14,000 creators and entrepreneurs in the Twin Cities area, her favorite free tools to create content in 2019, the platforms you should (and shouldn't) be using, her biggest social media pet peeves, and even how she games the dreaded Instagram algorithm. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to grow your social media following and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.

Are you putting out tons of material but your conversion rates are poor? Do you wish that you could stay a step ahead of the competition? How do you even begin competing in a saturated market like SEO? Don't worry! These questions are normal! Are you putting out tons of material but your conversion rates are poor? Do you wish that you could stay a step ahead of the competition? How do you even begin competing in a saturated market like SEO? Don't worry! These questions are normal! In this episode, we'll cover: * How to dominate by niching. * 3 of the best conversion tools. * #1 way to boost your agency's profile. Today, I talked with Chris Ching CEO and Founder of ElectricEnjin (https://electricenjin.com/) — an eCommerce website design and SEO agency. Chris is a long-time fan of the podcast, and he's here to share some tips on how he catapulted his agency into adulthood. I love hearing from fans of the show, especially when they come on and share some killer strategies with me. Chris is insanely talented, and he has a few tips that will definitely help new and old agencies alike. HOW TO DOMINATE BY NICHING Chris is definitely a hustling agency owner. He went through 3 iterations of his business before he found a winner. We've all pivoted before. But, his best tip on staying competitive in a dense market is this — niche down. I've talked about niching plenty on this podcast. But, this is a reminder — niching brings success (https://jasonswenk.com/niche/) . There are a plethora of agencies that are going to be competing with you. You need to find what makes you different. Figure out what you're really just good at and use it. Don't focus on your weaknesses! Focus on your strengths! You cannot be the best at everything. So pick one and dominate it. Plus, when you're great in one industry or one skillset, you're more likely to get hired for your expertise. Think about it. Would you want to hire an agency that's good at digital marketing or amazing at SEO? It's a no-brainer. 3 OF THE BEST CONVERSION TOOLS One of the toughest parts of starting an agency is figuring out what kind of content converts. Do you start throwing up LinkedIn ads? Should you put out white papers? According to Chris, these are three of the best conversion tools in today's atmosphere. * #1 Lead Magnets: Chris's agency offers a free site audit as their lead magnet and they're totally crushing it with converting those free audits into paid clients. * # 2 Chatbots: I'm a big believer in chatbots (https://www.facebook.com/jasonswenk/videos/facebook-messenger-bot-best-practice-a-strategy-that-generated-250k-revenue/1045222472312264/) . In fact, I have one! Chatbots are 24/7 sales machines that grab leads, convert, and engage with minimal investment. It's silly not to have one at this point. * # 3 Personalized videos: I send personalized videos to ALL of my clients. They form a connection quick. Chris started using personalized videos on his free website audits. He said they made a huge difference. In fact, he says his audit conversion rate is 50%! #1 WAY TO BOOST YOUR AGENCY'S PROFILE If your agency website is not converting the way you'd like, you can change that by making sure your content is ranking for the people who're searching for it. Run a content audit on your own website. Develop a customer avatar (or several of them) and make sure your content is directed to those avatars. Take a hard look at the value you're providing compared to your competitors. Write the content your prospects are actually looking for and maybe even delete old stuff that's cluttering up your site (https://jasonswenk.com/increase-website-traffic/) . Chris and I talked about one of the most common problem areas for agencies — not branding an experience well. It's not enough to tell people you do x,y, and z. You have to form an emotional connection with your clients. Chris gave a great example. Clif Bars logo has the guy hiking up a mountain with a nature backdrop. They're chunky, unique, and rugged. PowerBars tell you what's in them. It's entirely functional. Sure, PowerBars still sell. But, Clif bars were able to jump into a market and beat out the Goliaths by transforming themselves into more than the product. They're an experience. Same thing with Apple and Microsoft. Both of them have done tons of branding. But, one offers an experience, the other offers function. Both can succeed. The difference is this — Apple was able to outsell Microsoft and enter a saturated market. How? They branded an experience.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the 11th episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I recorded one of my favorite conversations to date with the CEO and Founder of the digital media agency the Social Butterfly, Brandon Poliszuk. Coincidentally, Brandon’s interview was the first one I recorded on video which I find fitting given his and his teams videography and photography abilities, and while this production will be no where near the quality of a Social Butterfly video, it gives you an additional insight into who Brandon is and how he’s growing his agency. What started out of a college bedroom, turned office is now a growing agency that is already working with top brands, athletes and personalities nationwide, and behind this crazy growth is a 23 year old CEO and self-proclaimed grinder. Brandon’s story is insane when you consider the fact that he had never even picked up a camera much before launching the Butterfly, and now he and his team of talented creators are shooting with pro athletes, multimillion dollar brands and even Gary Vee. Brandon and I talk about this evolution in his career, how he picked up these skills so quickly, how the Butterfly is gaining business at such a rapid pace, the outline to collaboration and providing value, the problem with “Hustle Culture,” and the crazy set of circumstances that led him to working directly with Gary Vee. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how being a leader, networker and an entrepreneur and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
I believe we have all been given special gifts and abilities from God. However, sometimes I simply feel ordinary. I wonder if I really have what it takes. Well, Acts 4:13 speaks to this very problem. Peter and John, from the world’s view, were ordinary men. Yet, they did extraordinary things for the Kingdom of God. How? They spent time with Jesus. Are you tired of feeling ordinary and what to uncover the best that God has for you? Spend time with Jesus and He can do extraordinary things through your life.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the tenth episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I had a really unique and interesting conversation with the founder of AdditionU, Jay Louricas. Jay’s life started out pretty ordinary. He was your typical suburban kid in your typical suburban family, but this all came to a screeching halt when his dad got addicted to drugs. This launched the rest of Jay’s life into an unpredictable spiral, with his dad popping in and out of his home, often high and unruly. Jay even recounts a specific instance in middle school in which he came home to find that his dad had stolen literally everything in his bedroom, including the bed. Now this brief summary does not do justice to what Jay has had to overcome, and while we don’t dive too deeply in the personal aspect of Jay’s life on this podcast, I do encourage you to hear about it in an interview he did on the Backpocket Podcast. Nevertheless, Jay has turned this unfortunate circumstance into a platform to help other families who are suffering from the effects of addiction. Jay describes the platform as the resource he, his mom and his sister never had and hopes to provide invaluable video and teaching resources to families, schools and clinics across the country to break the stereotype and taboo around families with a loved one struggling with addition. Hear how Jay is turning his raw passion into a feasible career, the resources he’s using to get started, the mistakes and failed ventures he’s had along the way and so much more. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to start to formalize your own passion, and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
In today’s show, we are going to talk about the milk cows that we have chosen for our central enterprise of cheesemaking – Normande Cows Today’s Show Topics Homestead Life Updates The Normande Cow Breed Crème Fraîche Recipe Homestead Life Updates Scott has been out pruning trees for a couple of days, but taking a nap now. It’s raining. AGAIN. Yesterday and the day before were filled with getting the trees in shape. There are 80 plus trees in our small orchard. Apples, peaches, cherries, plums, pears, mulberries, kiwis and elderberries are the fruit trees/bushes. Hazelnut, pecans, almonds are the nut trees. He got about 40% complete on the blueberries and blackberries before the rain hit. There are a few raspberry and grape plants around as well. I probably missed one or two in that list. The orchard is a favorite project for him. It’s a lot of work, but he loves it. We have a beehive back there also for pollination. Farmer’s Market We were at the Wytheville Farmer’s market this past Saturday. Got to meet lots of new people. A shout out and thanks for your patronage. March 9th is the next market date. We will have ground lamb and goat as well as some awesome soup bones. You get a free recipe card with each purchase. If you buy a whole or half lamb you get the All Lamb Cookbook. It contains recipes for every cut of lamb in your package. We want to make is easy for you to get the most out of your lamb. I will admit that the Indian Lamb Curry is my favorite. It’s made from the boneless shoulder roast cut into bite-sized pieces. March 23rd market we will have ground beef as well. Need More Freezer Space Tomorrow we are going to pick up a freezer we loaned out last year. We need it for the beef we are going to have soon. I’m a little bummed about the need that drove the event. Sometimes it’s hard to maintain peace when you have a homestead farm business. Here’s the story. We have a small herd of Normande cows. As I mentioned, I’ll be talking in great detail about that breed today. The purpose of the cows is to provide wonderfully nutritious milk so we can make wonderfully nutritious cheese. In order to make that happen, the cows need to have a calf every year. We milk them for about 9 months and the other 3 months we do not. With the birth of a calf in the spring, the milking process starts again. It’s a continuous life cycle. In order to tell this story properly I need to make a distinction between the cows, the goats, the sheep. Goats and sheep are cute, especially the kids and lambs, and we watch them play and enjoy their beauty. But they are not pets. We have very little hands-on daily interaction with them. The goats get their hooves trimmed regularly and, in the spring, we comb out the cashmere. Otherwise, the goats and sheep pretty much take care of themselves. As far as the cattle, we have the milk cows in one herd. Then there is another herd comprised of steers that resulted from the annual birthing of calves. We grow them out for beef. The bull hangs out there as well until we need him. The steers pretty much take care of themselves as well. We often watch them grazing peacefully but are not physically interacting with them so much. The Milk Cows The milk cows are unique. We interact with the milk cows – just about on a daily basis. These cows are not pets, but there is a special relationship or bond that develops with them. We pet them and hug them and talk to them. Cows are very peaceful animals. It is a pleasure to simply watch them graze. One of the reasons I wanted a milk cow was the experience of peace while sitting beside this beautiful creature and performing the action of milking. We bond with all of our animals. However, the bond with the milk cows is deeper. The difference is that the other animals are raised specifically for meat as food. The milk cows are raised for the luscious milk they make. They get extra-special attention. Today, for the first time in my experience on the farm, we had to cull one of our milk cows. She was gentle and calm as they all are. She had intelligent eyes and a beautiful coat. I’ll talk more about the Normande coloring in a bit. We put a halter on her and led her onto the trailer. She was only slightly adverse and it didn’t take long to get her on the trailer. When we arrived at the processing facility, she was lying on the floor of the trailer not seemingly traumatized at all. Once the door was opened, she got up and Scott led her off the trailer. She got a little antsy at that point when we wanted her to go to an unknown place, but she shortly cooperated. Upon beginning the return journey home, we were both quiet and introspective. It was hard. I think it is the hardest thing I have ever done so far. I’ve seen the aftermath of a coyote attack on our lambs. I found dead lambs and goat kids that perished for reasons unknown. Last year we lost our oldest breeding ewe and her lambs, likely triplets. This past fall we culled an older ewe that twice had issues birthing her triplets. Lilly So, what happened. Lilly was 7 years old. She had a calf in 2014 and she had a calf in 2015. She hasn’t had one since. After more than seven months with the bull this year, she was still cycling. We had to let her go. She was consuming massive amounts of grass and hay and not doing her part to ensure our small enterprise would continue. Perhaps there were extra steps we could have taken to get her to stand for the bull. Or perhaps she had ovarian cysts and could have been treated by the vet but that comes with the possibility of recurrence. I’m sure I will continue to doubt my decision to cull her from the herd. But I stand firm in that it was a decision that had to be made. I had no idea it would be so hard. I was in tears and indeed am tearing up now at the loss of this animal. We hold in our mind the purpose of every animal on our homestead. Each contributes to the whole process of sustainability and diversity on our farm. They must contribute or they must go. At this point I’m pretty sure I’m never going to get used to losing my milk cows. I can’t help but bond with them. And I will cry each time their life with us is over whatever the reason. I hope this isn’t too much of a downer but I feel it is important to honor her life and to share our feelings as we move forward on the homestead. It’s not always roses and butterflies. Thank you for your patience with me as I grieve a little. One way I want to honor her is to share the wonderfulness of her breed and why we chose these cows. The Normande Cow Breed It all started because I like to drink milk but did not want pasteurized milk. And cheesemaking has always been a passion of mine since I first learned how to make it back in 1993. The original plan was for one or two cows. So, we researched and researched. We wanted the milk but also knew to make that happen there would be a calf every year. That means we needed good beef as well. Because our values revolve around living close to and in harmony with nature, we wanted a breed that would do well on pasture without supplemental feed. Finally, we purchased our first cows in the fall of 2011. We bought two for milking and one for beef. I was already enamored with their unique coloring. And as we worked with them, I fell even more in love. Almost all cows have a deeply peaceful quality about them. This breed takes that quality to the next level. It was a defining moment for us in the evolution of our business aspirations. These cows were to become the centerpiece of our homestead. History As the name implies, the breed comes from Normandy, a North–Western region of France. Since Normandy is famous for its Viking influence, many people believe that the breed descended from the cattle the Vikings imported. For over 1,000 years these cattle evolved into a dual-purpose breed to meet the milk and meat needs of the residents of Northwestern France. During the Allied Invasion of Normandy beginning on June 6, 1944 through July 1944, the breed was nearly wiped out. But today they are alive and well. As of 5 years ago there were about 3 million Normande cattle grazing on French pastures, with large numbers in the regions of Normandy, Brittany, and Maine, as well as in the Ardennes and the Pyrenees. Although popular for their beef, they are primarily milk producers. The Colors Have I mentioned that these are gorgeous cows? They have distinctive eye patches. There are three characteristic coat colors sometimes referred to as the three Bs: Blanc (white), Blond (fawn or red) and Brindled (dark brown). It’s kind of hard to describe so I’ll put pictures in the post on the website. Please check them out. I believe I mentioned, they are gorgeous. The arrangements of colors are really varied: Blanc is mostly white, sometimes called quail. The coat is scattered with very small patches of color; The Blond coat has one big fawn or red patch covering almost the entire cow’s body. The belly and head are white and there are those circles around the eyes with all of these coats I’m describing. The brindle is similar to the blond but the large patch is dark brown to black. Normande Around the World The breed has been exported to many different countries, and has thrived in all of them. They adapt well to a wide range of climates. In South America, central Europe, Western Europe, Asia and North America the breed has shown its versatility. While having been exported worldwide, they received their greatest acceptance in South America where they were introduced in the 1890s. Total numbers there now exceed 4 million purebred plus countless Normandy cross breeds. Columbia alone has 1.6 million purebreds with the rest mainly in Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay. They are also growing in countries such as the US, Mexico, Madagascar, Belgium, Switzerland, Great Britain and Ireland. Milk and Cheese Their milk has about 3.5% protein and 4.4% fat, with a 4.2% butterfat content. The reason their milk is so suitable for cheesemaking is because of high levels of Beta Casein and Kappa Casein. We’ll get into that more at a later date. In France, the Normande is associated with the production of famous cheeses such as Camembert de Normandie, Livarot and Pont Leveque (pone liveck). These are all moist, soft, creamy, surface-ripened cheeses. In France, to legally carry the official name the cheese must meet certain requirements for manufacturing location, type of cow, raw and/or pasteurized milk, and specific processes. The official Camembert de Normande is made entirely from raw milk from the Normande breed grazed in the Normandy region of Northwestern France. There are lots and lots of other cheeses from the Normandy region of France, but the three I mentioned require the use of milk from the Normande breed of cow. A Sustainable Breed for a Sustainable Agriculture. Since Normandy cattle have been raised on grass only for many centuries, their grazing ability is highly commended. Long, damp cold muddy French winters and simple forged diets have prepared Normandes for the worst. As I mentioned, today Normandes have spread from the Andes to the tropical coastlines of South America to Ireland and Canada. Because the Normande has not been selected solely on one character, it has retained exceptional qualities often lost by specialized breeding. Highly desirable qualities such as fertility, calving ease, excellent feet and legs and overall heartiness are prominent. Their thick, curly winter hair ensures good protection against the cold. The eye rings are effective against the sun in the summer. The breed also shows remarkable docility which makes the handling of bulls very easy, though you always watch your back. Finally, raised on grass for centuries, the Normandy shows outstanding grazing ability and that works for us. That’s it for your overview of this excellent breed of cow. I hope you enjoyed that little trip through French history. Learning new information is always a joy for me and I hope you were entertained as well. Crème Fraîche Recipe Crème fraîche is similar to sour cream. While sour cream and crème fraîche are both used to add richness and tangy flavor, they are not the same thing. And is it worth taking the extra time to make your own crème fraîche? I’m going to say absolutely, yes, depending on the use. How They’re Made Sour cream is made by adding lactic acid culture to heavy cream and sometimes milk to thicken and sour it. In France, crème fraîche was traditionally made from unpasteurized cream that naturally contained the right bacteria to thicken it. Since our cream is pasteurized here in the US, crème fraîche is now made by adding a fermenting agent with bacteria to heavy cream. So, today’s recipe will be the Americanized version of crème fraîche. The Differences Between Sour Cream & Crème Fraîche Sour cream has a fat content of about 20% and may include ingredients like gelatin, rennin, and vegetable enzymes to stabilize it and make it thicker. Crème fraîche has a fat content of about 30% and does not contain any added thickeners. Crème fraîche is thicker, has a richer flavor, and is less tangy than sour cream. When to Use Crème Fraîche? Use it anywhere you would use sour cream. Because sour cream has less fat but more protein, simmering or boiling it will result in curdling. Crème fraîche is a better choice for sauces or soups. If using in a salad or as a topping, they’re pretty much interchangeable and the choice is yours — some people like the tanginess of sour cream, while others like the richness of crème fraîche. What You Need 2 cups heavy cream 3 tablespoons cultured buttermilk What to Do In a glass jar, combine the buttermilk with the heavy cream. Cover the jar tightly with cheesecloth or other breathable material. Let sit at room temperature (70 to 75 degrees) for 24 hours. Remove cloth, stir. It will be thick but will get thicker. Screw on a lid, and refrigerate for another 24 hours before using. Enjoy! Get the recipe here!! Final Thoughts That’s it for another episode of the Peaceful Heart FarmCast. Work continues on all sorts of farm projects. There is still more to do in the orchard. The garden will be picking up soon. That always adds a bit of hurried activity in the spring. We are looking forward to it. I hope you enjoyed the trip down memory lane and through Normandy, France. We plan to visit one winter when we are not milking our beautiful and gentle cows. Visit us at http://peacefulheartfarm.com/recipes and download that creme fraîche recipe. It’s so fun and satisfying to make things with your own two hands. And in this case, so easy. As always, I’m here to help you “taste the traditional touch.” Thank you so much for listening and until next time, may God fill your life with grace and peace. What is going on everyone, welcome to the ninth episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I was able to have a phenomenal conversation with the founder and CEO of Skyline Specs, Scott Ballard. Scott and I were firing on all of the same cylinders, from being students, to studying entrepreneurship, to starting a side hustle (or two) in school, to growing accounts with 10’s of thousands of followers, to freelancing our social media work, we had a ton in common which made for a great conversation and even better podcast episode. Scott founded Skyline Specs as a class project, but now his custom engraved wooden-framed sunglasses can be seen representing nearly every major city across the country. Scott is using the power of social media influencers, the Mall of America and unabashed salesmanship to grow this business podcast by podcast. I would recommend you stick around for the full episode this week (I mean, I think it’s in your best interest to listen to the full episode every week) because Scott and I get into some really interesting territory about buying Instagram accounts, leveraging 60,000+ followings, selling through Instagram, the reason behind making sunglasses and how he finds his creative and entrepreneurial passions. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to become a better business person, influencer or creator, and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the eight episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I had the pleasure of sitting down with the co-founder of MB Outdoors Apparel, Austin Dummer. Austin had some fantastic stories to share, both about the inspiration and aspirations he and his partners hold for the brand. As an Army Officer, professional marketer, and co-founder, Austin is able to provide a ton of insight into what and why MB Outdoors stands for what it does. For those of you who don’t know, the name MB Outdoors stands for “Midwest Backcountry Outdoors” and has developed into a prominent brand for adventurers and outdoorsmen alike across the midwest. But it also stands for a strong pillar of values that Austin and his co-founders share, to support several veteran organizations with proceeds coming from each product sold. With this foundation of regional community and veteran support, MB Outdoors is growing faster than ever. Austin and I dive into the idea of growing a brand in such a short time, why they chose the saturated apparel market, the stupid mistakes they made, how they set up a revenue positive workflow model with team-members in different states, the role of social media and influencers, and their plans to scale the whole operation. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to start your own brand or business (apparel or otherwise), and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the seventh episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and today we have a personally highly anticipated episode with long-time friend, colleague, former influencer and current social media lead for the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee’s athletic department, Frank Kugel. Frank was one of the first guys I thought of to interview when I started this podcast because he not only checks the boxes of someone who has and continues to have entrepreneurial success, but he’s someone I always enjoy talking to about everything from life to social media. Frank got his start as a young founder of a popular Twitter account called I Live For Football. His work through the account reached upwards of 25 million athletes, coaches and fans monthly, and his leadership of a young team of content creators helped grow the account’s reach to over 140,000 followers. I, myself, was a part of this team and was fortunate to work with Frank for almost 2 years in creating a football community that was nationally recognized. In this episode, Frank and I talked about how he grew an audience of this magnitude at the young age of 14, his favorite run-ins with professional athletes and fans, how he leveraged this high school passion-project into a revenue driving business and later job at one of Wisconsin’s primer Division 1 sports program, and the professional obstacles he’s had to overcome at such a young age. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to jump start your professional careers with social media, and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the sixth episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and today we have an excellent episode with Josh Moe, photographer and videographer studying business at the University of Minnesota. Josh was an extremely interesting guy to talk to, because he is straddling the line between being a traditional student seeking a fairly standard job after graduation and becoming an entrepreneurial film-maker and photographer who is touring the country with artists, forward-thinking businesses and friends. Josh’s perspective into creative work is even more interesting when you consider the fact that 3 years ago he hadn’t even picked up a camera yet, but now he’s on his way to making a living with one. In this episode we discuss what Josh believes to be the necessary traits of an aspiring photographer, videographer and entrepreneur, how to navigate the complex ecosystem of creative professionals in your area, and his strategy to growing his brand as a business. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to move forward in such an interesting and complicated industry, and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the fifth episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I was able to hop on a call with the founder and host of “Relish the Journey” Media, Myles Biggs. Myles is a lot like you and me- he’s worked his way up in his 9-5 job, his first son is about to turn one, and he started a media company with the goal of interviewing the world. And while the last point might not *actually* be all that common, Myles still has countless stories and experiences that any person with an interest in podcasting can learn from, because the fact of the matter is Myles' self-proclaimed best quality is his inexplicable drive to try and learn new things. This episode is jam packed with highly valuable and multi-layered conversation on starting a venture like a podcast when you still have the normal 9-5 obligation. The insightful nuance of how Myles attacks new problems, avoids being content and is evolving as a creative professional is beneficial to anyone who has a similar desire to create. Also be sure to check out Myles' podcast, “Relish the Journey” anywhere you listen to podcasts to hear my interview. We talked about my story, my passions and what drives me to create ventures like this very podcast. That episode will release tomorrow- Thursday, January 3rd, so be sure to check it out for a never-before heard perspective into how I attack every single day. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to start your own podcast, and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.

It's based on past success. So we start to say things like, "I'm ok just the way that I am. I'm ok just doing what I've been doing." And in that complacent mindset, we lose out to the competition. A lot of y'all start making money, and your true colors come out. your work ethic changes, you think you're at the top of the charts. And you're the king or the queen. And you're the king or the queen. Some of y'all are still running around making reference to what you accomplished last year. That sh*t is over. Get over it. Wake up and don't settle with where you are. You go after today, you go after your dreams, you go after your goals. don't settle with where you are at your job. I need you to stay plugged in. Because the days you're not plugged in, are there days you don't give 120. They say an alligator is so ferocious it'll kill a lion. But I can kill an alligator with my bare hands. How? You get here by quitting when you finish, when you're done. You don't stop when you're tired, you stop when you're done. You stop when you've completed, when you've executed. Execution is worshipped.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the fourth episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and last week I had the opportunity to sit down with the co-founder of the fantastic Great Lakes Clothing, Spencer Barrett. Spencer’s story resonated so strongly with me like I know it will for many of you, because his is one of pretty average origins. He’s a Minnesota bred guy who loves spending time at the lake, the only difference between his story and that of many others is that while he was a student at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, him and his business partner David started an apparel company from their car. David and Spencer have since scaled Great Lakes Clothing to become one of the most prominent, and recognizable clothing brands in the midwest, and their small team continues to grow the Great Lakes’ product line and brand to new heights. In our conversation, Spencer and I talk about how the university system isn’t always the best for entrepreneurs, how he found early success selling shirts out of his car, the biggest lessons he learned out of college, his favorite tool for new businesses, and how companies should use social media in 2019. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to start your own business (apparel or otherwise), and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
What is going on everyone, welcome to the third episode of How They’re Here. As always I’m Tyler Webb, and today we have an outstanding episode with Chris Jackson, Digital Content Coordinator for the University of Minnesota Athletic Department. Chris’ story is second to none. He started his career as a videographer by making high school football highlight tapes so that him and his friends could get recruited to play college football. After accepting an offer to play Division 1 Football at FAU, Chris continued the evolution into his film career by starting his own production company. Once he graduated, he began training for the NFL but soon realized that he was going to have to make a choice: Pursue his career in video or his career in the NFL. Chris’ choice to pursue his creative passion landed him here in Minneapolis, MN and even though that decision came with its fair share of strife- it’s a decision that Chris has never regretted making. In our conversation Chris will share just exactly how he got started, what mindset he used to get through the rejection and how he’s been able to be successful in an industry that costs so much to get into, and a few tips he thinks every aspiring creator should know. I hope you all enjoy this episode, and learn a thing or two about how to get into such a competitive industry , and gain some valuable insight into how they’re here.
What’s going on everyone, my name is Tyler Webb and I am the host of a new podcast called How They’re Here. If you’re a student, professional, aspiring entrepreneur or struggling creative you know that there are just some things you can’t be taught in school. We go through high school, college, graduate school and beyond learning theories and definitions but we’re rarely taught how to get the jobs we actually want- jobs as founders, CEOs, content creators, artists, musicians and so much more. The only way that we might have found out about how to do this stuff is through hear-say, or one-off pieces of advice, but there’s no one place to turn for information about the things we really need to know. If any of that sounds like a thought you might have had at one point, this is the spot for you. On How They’re Here, we’re going to dig into the experiences, mindsets and perspectives of people who are doing the jobs you want to do so that you can turn around and use it in your own lives. No one is teaching us these things, so we have to take the learning into our own hands through the experiences of others, and what better way to do this than finding out How They’re Here. The first episodes of How They’re here will premiere on November 7th and will be available every other Wednesday wherever you listen to podcasts. In the meantime; check us out on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook by searching How They’re Here or find me online @tylermwebb to connect. Thank you for listening and I’ll talk to you all soon- peace!

After President Donald Trump annouced that the US would move its embassy in Israel to the "eternal capital of the Jewish people, Jerusalem," Orthodox Rabbi Yaakov Shapiro analyzed Trump's claim: "The Jewish Nation don’t have a capital, a capital is a political concept. We are not a country, we are a people, a nation established on Torah Judaism. Yes, Jerusalem is a Holy place but that doesn’t make it our capital. It is a Zionist concept that Jews are not a religion, but a nationality/race...Zionists say that the Jews became a people when they entered Israel. Not true - it happened at Mount Sinai, before we even entered the Land of Israel. Step 1 for Zionism was to nationalize the Jewish people. Step 2 for Zionism was that they say Israel is their country...The modern state of "Israel" was founded by people who wanted to create a country in the middle east. Somehow they say that this country is the country of Jews worldwide. How? They claim to represent every Jew, a completely unfounded claim. The Jewish people had nothing to do with the creation of this state. The Zionists did. The majority of religious Jews at the time did not want Israel to represent them at the state’s founding. Ben Guirion, Israel's first Prime Minister agreed with his generation's leading Rabbis to never claim that "Israel" represents worldwide Jewry as it would be dangerous to Jews worldwide. It casts them as dually loyal. They can never be fully loyal to their home country if they are also loyal to "Israel". He later went back on his agreement." Rabbi Shapiro's sound logic is presented in this compelling, 7 minute video. Reference: "Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as capital of ‘Jewish people’ is assault on my religion — Queens rabbi."

There is only one answer: Spend time with Jesus. Mormonism - Part 4 Temple Rituals. The Mormon Temple with its secret rituals and chants is the very centre of Mormonism Every Mormon who expects to become a ‘god’ in the world to come must be married in the eternal marriage ceremony. Whatever marriage has been entered previously is not counted. Following the entry into the temple males and females are separated. They remove all their clothes and replace them with a garment which is known as a shield. This is a loose fitting white garment. Their own clothes are then locked away and the key is pinned onto the shield garment. The temple assistants proceed to lay their hands on different parts of the candidates bodies invoking a blessing upon each part. The head is washed so that the brain and intellect can function correctly, the eyes that they may see clearly especially that which is spiritual. Other private parts are touched and blessed so that they may produce healthy offspring. Following this ceremony a special undergarment is placed upon the body which must never be removed for it has special magical properties. Masonic Handshakes were introduced into temple rites by Joseph Smith in 1842. The oaths include: The removal of tongue and throat cut if secrets of the temple are ever revealed by them. That is part of the Aaronic priesthood. The removal of bowels and stomach cut if in the Melchizadek Priesthood. A further ceremony is held for those who want marriage in heaven. They have to place their hand through a slit in the curtain to be gripped by a man the other side representing God. They make vows and enter into a spiritual marriage agreement. By making commitment by word of mouth they are allowed to to enter beyond the curtain. May I recommend for further reading ‘History and beliefs of Mormonism by Einer Anderson published by Kregal publications. Changes And Contradictions Things to note The book of Mormon has had nearly 4000 changes since its first edition in 1830 Mormons say that the Bible is inadequate and contains errors. Mormons add to the scriptures other such books as “The Pearl of great price” and “Doctrines and Covenants" But even these books contradict each other. How? They differ on whether God was spirit or had flesh. Whether God is pleased with polygamy or not? Why these contradictions? A simple answer is that these books are not inspired by God but by people. What Does The Bible Say? If prophecies do not come truer then the prophet is false. Investigation proves that Mormon prophecies have a 100% failure rate. One of their statements of faith is extraordinary. “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly, we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God"" The Accuracy Of The Bible In Contrast Psalm 12:6 The psalmist writes “The word of the Lord is flawless like silver refined in a furnace of clay purified seven times” Another statement of the Mormon faith reads “We believe man can be saved by the keeping of the law” Yet the Bible in Romans 3:20; reads “ No one will be declared righteous by the keeping of the law” Mormons teach that Jesus has not always been God. Yet the Bible teaches that He has always been the Son of God. There is much more teaching which conflict with the Scriptures. Which sounds the more authentic? Anthropologist Dr. Helen Fisher's latest book is "The First Sex: The Natural Talents of Women and How They are Changing the World" which looks closely at gender differences in the brain and behavior of men and women. She believes as more women enter the workforce, the particular skills they bring with them, will alter the way we do business. She also talks of the reformation of marriage and the shifting balance of power in relationships between the sexes. (Originally aired September 1999)
Episode 57: Today's Social Work Podcast is on community-based prevention services for children and adolescents. I spoke with Dr. Richard Catalano, who along with David Hawkins, developed Communities That Care, a prevention-planning system that promotes the positive development of children and youth and prevents problem behaviors, including substance use, delinquency, teen pregnancy, school drop-out and violence. It is a system for identifying community needs, matching those needs to evidence-based prevention programs, and evaluating the outcomes. The system has been used in dozens of communities around the United States, and has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing problem behaviors and promoting positive youth development. But before we get to the interview, I want you to imagine for a moment how you would work with a pregnant 16-year old sexual abuse survivor who was addicted to crack, semi-illiterate, suicidal, diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and whose baby daddy was prostituting her in exchange for drugs. Ok, got your treatment plan figured out? If you’re thinking, "I know I need to address her suicidality first, but after that, I’m not really sure," then you’d be right, and you’re probably not alone. Most social workers, most service providers, treat individual or family problems once they’ve occurred. And this young woman has a lot of problems. So, what if I suggested that the best place to start with this client was 17 years ago, before she was born, before she was raped, before she turned to drugs to dull her pain or perhaps used drugs to make herself look cooler to her father-figure boyfriend pimp? What if I suggested that the best use of time and money was in preventing these problems from occurring in the first place? If you’re with me on this one, you’re not alone. In 2006, the New Yorker published an article by Katherine Boo (2006, Feb 6) called "Swamp Nurse." The story takes place about an hour southwest of New Orleans, Louisiana, a place where infant mortality, illiteracy rates, and child poverty are among the highest in the country. The title, Swamp Nurse, refers to a group of nurses who do home visits with low-income women during pregnancy and work with them until their child turns two. These nurses are expected to, and I’m not making this up, reduce infant mortality, illiteracy rates and child poverty, and in turn improve the overall health, education, and economic self-sufficiency of these families and consequently the community as a whole. Uh huh. All through home visits. I know. And the most remarkable part? They did it, more or less. How? They were part of a decades-old prevention program called the Nurse-Family Partnership (www.nursefamilypartnership.org/About/What-we-do). These nurses promoted the use of prenatal care, healthy eating, not using cigarettes, alcohol or illegal drugs. They worked with parents to provide responsible and competent care – and to a 16 year old that might include getting them to understand that it is their job to make their baby feel loved, not the other way around. And they helped the parents plan for their future, including future pregnancies, education, and jobs. This program works because it prevents certain behaviors by promoting others. That is the essence of prevention programs. And, according to Dr. Catalano, there are tons of effective prevention programs out there. The trick is to figure which ones are right for your community. Benjamin Franklin famously said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." This idea, that prevention is a better value for the money that cure, is at the core of public health policy and one of the most compelling arguments for investing in prevention services. Steve Aos, associate director of the Washington State Institute for Public Policy has done cost-benefit analyses on dozens of prevention programs, and found that while most programs do not have a 16:1 return ratio, there are many programs out there that return $3 and $4 dollars per dollar invested. Oh, and the Nurse-Family Partnership? $2.88 per dollar. Steve and his colleagues calculated that by spending $9100 per mother, the Nurse-Family Partnership produced over $26,000 in benefit (www.wa.gov/wsipp). Let’s come back to our 16-year old crack addicted suicidal prostitute for a minute. If she had been involved with a program, or a series of programs that promoted parent-child bonding, emotional, cognitive, behavioral and moral competence, self-determination, belief in the future, and half a dozen other concepts that are included under in the broad heading of positive development, it is likely that she would have never become my client. In order to learn more about how this might happen at a community level, I spoke with Dr. Richard Catalano, or "Rico" as he asked me to call him. Rico is the Bartley Dobb Professor for the Study and Prevention of Violence and the Director of the Social Development Research Group in the School of Social Work at the University of Washington. He has published over 225 articles and book chapters, and his work has been recognized by practitioners; criminologists; and prevention scientists. I asked Rico to talk about some of the persistent problems that youth in America face and why we haven’t been able to overcome them. He talked about why he went from being a treatment researcher to a prevention researcher. We talked about the benefits of taking a community-based approach to prevention. Rico described the Communities That Care prevention system, and talked about what makes it an effective approach to preventing adolescent behavior problems and promoting positive development of children and youth. I interviewed Rico at Temple University’s School of Social Work. He was the invited speaker for the school’s lecture series on social work research. For more information about Temple’s School of Social Work, or the research lecture series, please visit their website at www.temple.edu/ssa.org To read more about Communities That Care, and to hear other podcasts, please visit the Social Work Podcast website at https://socialworkpodcast.com.
