What's In The Box?!

On Episode 14, we converse with Michael, Anna, and Larry of the St. Louis based sketch and improv comedy group, Shitshow Comedy. An 8 person ensemble of talented and hilarious individuals, Shitshow has been performing at The Improv Shop since 2018 and are well-renowned and warmly regarded as a comedy clusterfuck. Throughout the episode, we learn more about their comedic origins, how Shitshow came to being, and what they have been up to and are planning next. We also talk about running away from home, wet noodles, and dolphin dicks.

On Episode 13, we get to know the St.Louis-made artist Cbabi Bayou. From caricatures of hip-hop artists to murals for schools, Cbabi has been working as an artist since graduating from Grambling State in the 90's. As an artistic multi-hyphenate that began his career before the Internet was in our daily lives, we discuss his story and the multiple important projects he has created from a Prince album cover to 365 Days with Dad. We also talk about tsunamis, Erykah Badu, and the magic of stained glass.

On this episode, Samuel P discusses with Bones the various avenues of drama he has encountered in his life as of late. Namely these avenues are the NBA, The Bravo Network, Kanye West, and the situation in Ukraine. 

On the first episode of our second season, we meet St. Louis based comedian Tina Dybal. Hailing from the former Soviet Union but growing up in Kansas City, Tina's unique upbringing brought about her caustic comedic style. She was crowned Helium Comedy Club's "Funniest Person in Saint Louis 2018" (she's been hilarious before and after 2018 by the way). Tina is also the co-host of the “Slop City” Podcast alongside fellow comedian and best friend, Libbie Higgins. The podcast has garnered a cult following over the past couple of years and is a must listen. Over the course of the podcast we get to know her important story and we also talk about Buffalo Wild Wings, Mazda Miadas, and lawn-mowing robots. 

On this episode, we get to know the story of the St.Louis hip-hop artist known as Mvstermind. From managing artists' MySpace pages back in middle school to now having his own Fortress of Musical Solitude, The Gem, we learn how his past has shaped his present growth as a musical artist and what he has in store for his art and community in the near future. We also talk about cereal and ostriches.

On this episode, we get to chop it up with Nick Williams aka Heavy Cream Nick. A native of St. Louis, his journey took him from helping at his father's restaurant to eventually becoming head chef of esteemed New York City seafood restaurant, Little Neck, and appearing on Food Network and Bravo. Since the pandemic, he moved back to the Lou and has developed the ghost kitchen concept taking over your Instagram feeds entitled Nicky Slices Pizza Club, the coolest club in the world. We also talk about his legendary Pretty Ricky - Grind on Me airbrushed polo from the junior high mixer days, how his pizza dough is lighter than an angel's ass, and how he outcooked Bobby Flay on television.

On this episode we get to know Lauren Marx, an acclaimed artist internationally known for her detailed drawings of animals and nature. With a taste of the macabre, she blends her interests of zoology, cosmology, and mythology into unique pieces of art that have gained her a huge fanbase and a new book just released through Dark Horse Comics entitled Sacred Decay. We talk about her artistic beginnings, her love of lists, and what it's like to be a successful artist in the 21st Century. We also talk about dragon sex objects, pigeons, and gaslighting.

On this episode we learn the amazing story of writer/director Seth Ferranti. After receiving a twenty-five year LSD kingpin conviction, faking his suicide, and landing on the US Marshals Top-15 Most Wanted List, he thought his life was over. While earning an associates, bachelors, and masters degree in prison he began to write for Vice, The Daily Beast, and many other publications. After getting out in 2015, he helped write/produce the documentary White Boy, featured on both Starz and Netflix. We also get to learn his favorite word of all time and what he'd want God to say to him at the pearly gates.

An active and important member of both the art and fashion community in St. Louis, we discuss her inspirations, goals, and thoughts on culture. We also talk about growing up as a twin, NFT's, art-fisting, and t-shirts with pit stains sewn onto them.

On this episode we meet the legendary Demon Queen of Polka and baklava, Maxi Glamour. Maxi is a non-binary multidisciplinary artist and community organizer based out of St. Louis. In 2019, they reached international success on Netflix in the hit series The Boulet Brothers' Dragula. We talk about their influences and activism along with their future album, radioactive baths, Korean wig stores, and so much more.

On this episode we meet up with Elizabeth and Deon of the new, local business Quicky Chargers, a convenient, pre-charged, disposable battery pack.
