Hey guys Janno here. Writing the description for this ep because I'm sick nasty with it. This episode we talk about Bruce Lee vs Jackie Chan and which white boy (Brad Pitt or Paul Walker) does a more entertaining accent. Also I spread misinformation around in this episode because I talk about Bruce Lee as if I fricken know the guy. But it's ok because everyone makes fun of me for it? Idk. Have fun listening to the boys talk once again.

Send us a textWhen we glorify those who harm our communities, what message are we sending to future generations? This question lies at the heart of our newest episode as we dissect the peculiar phenomenon of excuse-making in Black culture. The Tory Lanez saga continues with his team creating elaborate conspiracy websites to discredit Megan Thee Stallion's testimony, despite medical evidence confirming bullet fragments were removed from her feet. We break down the logical fallacies in these theories and examine why people desperately cling to narratives that protect their idols at the expense of potential victims. This pattern repeats with figures like Larry Hoover, whose recent federal pardon has been mischaracterized by celebrities like Chance the Rapper as a complete release, ignoring that Hoover remains imprisoned on state murder charges. When did we start elevating those who brought drugs and violence into our neighborhoods as heroes? The conversation shifts to brighter territories with Kai Cenat's Streamer University, which showcased the evolving landscape of digital entertainment while revealing persistent gender dynamics in content creation. We analyze the romantic drama that unfolded on-stream and what it tells us about modern relationships in the public eye. Meanwhile, Druski's "White Boy in the Hood" skit sparks a discussion about false equivalencies between whiteface and historically oppressive blackface performances.Perhaps most compelling is our examination of Deante Kyle's powerful message about accountability and intersectionality among Black men. His analogy comparing Black men's vigilance around white people to women's necessary caution around men provides a framework for understanding privilege and protection that too many of us resist acknowledging. We close with urgent concerns about Trump's deceptively named "beautiful bill" that threatens judicial oversight, allows unregulated AI development, and cuts critical benefits for vulnerable families. These policy changes could have devastating consequences for marginalized communities yet remain underreported in mainstream coverage.Listen now and join a conversation that refuses to settle for comfortable narratives. Follow us on all social platforms @talkfnftv and share your thoughts—we're building this community together.

Chad and Adaeze Brinkman are a mixed race married couple, who co-wrote an awesome book called White Boy, Black Girl. I highly recommend this book! Adaeze and Chad intentionally live out their passion of sharing the Gospel of Jesus together in their community. Adaeze works in the creative arts and Chad is a physical therapist. They love traveling and adventuring together, taking in the beauty of God's creation and encouraging others to do the same. In this convo, we talk all about their relationship and the beautiful complexity of race relations in the midst of it all. -- If you've enjoyed this content, please subscribe to my channel! This week in the Thanking The Greats Series, we want to thank musician and producer extraordinaire Beau Hill. If you were a fan of 80s hard rock, you most likely had a record that Beau Hill produced. He was responsible for producing some of my favorite records in the 80s including Ratt, Warrant, Kix, and Winger just to name a few. In the “Thanking The Greats Series” we will explore and discuss an individual Artist, Producer, Song Writer, Manager, or just about anyone involved in the music business we think has had a long career and contributed to the music we grew up loving. Oh and while we are at it, we will also select and play a few tunes we dig that are related to that individual. WE NEED YOUR HELP!! Since its publication in 1885, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has been celebrated as one of the great American works of literature. But the novel has also been criticized for how Mark Twain stereotyped Black characters like Jim, the enslaved man who befriends Huck Finn. Now, author David Walker and illustrator Marcus Kwame Anderson have reimagined this story with Jim at its center. Their new graphic novel, Big Jim and the White Boy, is an action story filled with adventures, fight sequences and an acknowledgment of the danger of the world Jim operates within. In today's episode, Anderson and Walker join NPR's Scott Simon to discuss the novel, including what they did to turn Jim into a multidimensional character, their decision to keep the N-word in their retelling and whether Huck and Jim were ever really friends. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
