Ohio State vs Grambling Pre Game ShowOhio State enters this Week 2 matchup at Ohio Stadium riding a wave of momentum after a 14‑7 upset of top‑ranked Texas. The Buckeyes extended their streak of season‑opening wins to 25 and notched their seventh straight victory over a Top 10 opponent ([Land-Grant Holy Land][1], [Ohio State][2]). Their defense, under new coordinator Matt Patricia, continues to shine, with the linebacker trio of Arvell Reese, Sonny Styles, and Payton Pierce anchoring a dominant performance ([Land-Grant Holy Land][3]). On offense, freshman quarterback Julian Sayin impressed with a calm, turnover‑free debut despite modest yardage—126 passing yards on 13-of-20 attempts—and the run game still searching for rhythm ([Land-Grant Holy Land][1], [WTOP News][4], [921theticket.com][5]).Linktree: https://linktr.ee/AJLetsTalkSportsMeanwhile, FCS program Grambling State is off to a statement start after routing Langston 55‑7, led by transfer QB C'zavian Teasett's three‑touchdown performance and a defense that held the opposition to just 97 total yards and –32 rushing yards ([Land-Grant Holy Land][1], [WTOP News][4]). Yet, they face a steep challenge stepping up from an NAIA opponent to a powerhouse program and No. 1 team in the nation. Ohio State is a gigantic favorite—with some projections forecasting a win by nearly 60 points—and the matchup promises to be more about fine‑tuning and depth testing than suspense

Ohio State got through the Texas game with a win, and now the real work can start. Ryan Day took the moment to breathe after the game, but his focus has quickly shifted to building this team's identity. That's especially on offense after taking a conservative approach against the Longhorns. Now it has three weeks to perfect what the true version of this offense will look like. It's time for OSU to get aggressive against its opponents, starting with Grambling State. On this episode of Buckeye Talk, Stephen Means, Stefan Krajisnik and Andrew Gillis discuss what that could look like. Send us a textThe second week of HBCU football approaches with several compelling storylines emerging from an action-packed opening weekend. Alabama State quarterback Andrew Body delivered a performance for the ages against UAB, throwing for 312 yards and rushing for 119 more while accounting for five touchdowns. His stellar showing sparked heated debate when he was named co-offensive player of the week alongside Jackson State's Ahmad Miller, who rushed for 172 yards on just 10 carries.Michael Vick's highly anticipated coaching debut at Norfolk State attracted national attention with ESPN cameras and celebrity appearances, but resulted in a 27-7 loss to Towson. The Spartans struggled to establish offensive rhythm while rotating quarterbacks, highlighting the challenges ahead for the program under new leadership. Meanwhile, Delaware State showed surprising tenacity against Delaware despite being picked to finish last in the MEAC. Their aggressive defensive play and strong running game from Marquise Gillis (123 yards) suggested they might significantly outperform preseason expectations.Week 2 brings "payout weekend" for many HBCU programs facing FBS opponents, with Grambling State headlining by collecting $1 million to face Ohio State. Other notable games include UAPB at Texas Tech ($575,000) and Jackson State at Southern Miss ($375,000). These matchups provide crucial financial support for athletic departments while offering players valuable experience against top-tier competition. In Division II, Benedict made a statement with a shutout victory over Fayetteville State, while Clark Atlanta impressed in a narrow loss to powerhouse Valdosta State. The passion surrounding HBCU football continues to grow, with programs like North Carolina A&T introducing special helmet decals honoring the Greensboro Four civil rights icons. Ohio State won the marquee battle of Week 1 of the 2025 college football season after a hard-fought defensive struggle with the Texas Longhorns. Julian Sayin's first college start was more successful than the first road start of his more hyped opposite number, Arch Manning. Sayin likely could have done more than he was asked to do, but the Buckeyes didn't need it, thanks to the defense helping a conservative offensive game plan and the Alabama transfer's poise and accuracy when called upon. It wasn't a perfect performance, but most importantly, Sayin didn't put the ball in harm's way.We broke down the game, which came just a few minutes shy of a shutout for the defense in Matt Patricia's first game as OSU defensive coordinator, checked back on our score predictions and our picks to click, and went over all of the important stats from Ohio State's victory over the No. 1 Longhorns. As we usually do, we discussed the other games around the Big Ten, with Northwestern, UCLA, and Wisconsin not looking great, although the Badgers at least got themselves a W. Indiana wasn't as sharp as expected, but the Hoosiers got the job done. Everything else went pretty much according to plan, although had Cincinnati played at home instead of in Kansas City, the Bearcats might have given Nebraska even more of a fight. We also looked ahead at the games coming up around the conference this weekend. One of those games is a curious matchup between the Buckeyes and the Tigers of Grambling State. This game was a scramble drill for the schedule makers after a previously scheduled game fell through. It's not likely to tell us much about the 2025 Buckeyes one week after a win over Texas, but it will provide valuable reps for the new Buckeye starters and should provide playing time for plenty of backups. We made our picks to click for the game, selecting the offensive and defensive Buckeyes we think will shine on Saturday afternoon, and we made similar predictions for the final score. We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email at silverbulletspod@gmail.com. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show.Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.As always, thanks for listening!0:20 - There was no revenge for Texas from last year's Cotton Bowl, as the Buckeye defense came to play!33:01 - A look around the other results from Week 1 in the Big Ten.48:03 - Grambling is coming to Columbus. In this episode of Black Is America, we highlight the groundbreaking journey of Doug Williams, the first Black quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl. From his early days in Zachary, Louisiana, to Grambling State under legendary coach Eddie Robinson, to breaking barriers in the NFL, Williams' career is a testament to resilience, intelligence, and excellence. But Williams' path was anything but easy. Systemic racism, underestimation, and financial disparity sought to hold him back. Yet, he persevered, ultimately delivering one of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history. Neil Meyer, JT Smith and Alex Meacham recap Dayton and Grambling State games plus preview the Kansas State matchup.
The Cincinnati Bearcats continued their impressive start to the season with a dominant 84-49 victory over Grambling State. This win caps off a strong non-conference slate that sees the Cats sitting at 10-1 heading into Big 12 play. While the game against Grambling was never in doubt, there were still some encouraging signs. Aziz Bandaogo led the way with 15 points, including going 5-6 from the free throw line. His improved free throw shooting could be huge for UC moving forward. Dillon Mitchell also had a solid game with 13 points and 7 rebounds. However, Cincinnati's three-point shooting continues to be a concern. UC went just 9-32 (28%) from beyond the arc against Grambling. This has been a trend in recent games after a hot start to the season. Players like Dan Skillings and Jizzle James, who we're counting on to at least be formidable shooters, both went just 1-6 from three. Looking ahead to Big 12 play, UC's schedule sets up favorably compared to some other teams in the conference. Cincy avoids playing powerhouses like Iowa State and Kansas twice, instead getting two games each against more beatable opponents like Kansas State, Utah, BYU and West Virginia. The Big 12 as a whole hasn't looked quite as dominant in non-conference play as many expected. Outside of Iowa State, Kansas, Houston and UC, there aren't many other ranked teams at the moment. Baylor and Arizona in particular have underwhelmed so far.
Chad Brendel and Aaron Smith break down the Bearcats hoops eleventh game and tenth win, 84-49 hosting the Grambling State Tigers at Fifth Third Bank Arena, giving the Bearcats their seventh home win this season.

The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the latest action from the USC women's and men's basketball teams, including the Women of Troy being harassed from start to finish by a Notre Dame team that showed USC has a lot of work it needs to do to reach the big expectations and aspirations for this season. Shotgun and Connor also look back at USC men's 80-69 victory over Grambling State that was a struggle throughout until the Trojans closed strong, finishing the game on a 13-2 run to improve to 5-1. The podcasters look at where the men and women's programs stand after three weeks of action with plenty of concerns still needing to be addressed by both teams as they try to jell with so many new faces on both rosters. Shotgun and Connor also preview the upcoming weekend of action in the desert as both teams travel to Palm Springs to play in the Acrisure Classic tournament. The Women of Troy try to shake the blues and get back on track against a couple of blue teams in Seton Hall and Saint Louis. The Trojans bested Seton Hall last year around the same time of year when playing in a tournament in the Bahamas, but both of these teams have completely revamped their roster with nine new players. The men face their toughest non-conference matchups this season, taking on perennial West Coast Conference-contender Saint Mary's and either Arizona State or New Mexico, who are both off to strong starts this season. The podcast duo close out the show discussing what they are thankful for this year heading into the Thanksgiving holiday. Please review, rate and subscribe to the Peristyle Podcast on Apple Podcasts!
