Strategies, tactics, targets, engagements, war rooms … the standard language of war has a cost in our business and marketing strategy, as well as in our day-to-day culture. We wrap up season 6 with Dan Dunlop for the final episode in our three-part series about how words can transform healthcare. Dan shares some provocative thinking about the language of love vs. the language of war, and the effect it has on how we see opportunities to build a more consumer-first healthcare experience. All that, plus the Flava of the Week about how the desire to build a better experience is often overshadowed by the economics of how to do it. I found out about a week ago that a friend's journey had ended on this physical plane. He was somewhat of a troubled soul. Apparently he's been gone for a year. We had many spiritual conversations and some fun adventures. We both had felt we have known each other in another time. Like so many I've met, he sensed something more was taking place. Every life has purpose. I knew he had many dreams and hopes that never came. In the end I don't know what his soul contract was, it was his journey, only he knows. I remember my good friend/brother Dan.
Dan Dunlop and Jared sit down and have an open conversation about systemic racism and health disparities in America. Why aren’t more healthcare leaders clamoring for a future state where we eliminate the causes of these disparities? There has never been a more important time to start talking about it, and better yet, doing something about it. In many health systems, the role of the digital marketing is sometimes seen as the antithesis of population health initiatives. However, as with many other departments in health systems, these roles are starting to converge. In this episode, hosts Reed Smith and Chris Boyer discuss population health management in the digital age, and how consumerism is driving a new era of digital health. They are joined by Dan Dunlop and Kate Gillmer from Jennings who share how they have worked with hospitals and unifying digital marketing and population health initiatives - to great success! For population health management to succeed, hospital teams have to step into new roles and responsibilities. Dan Dunlop, principal at Jennings, shares the new role of marketing teams in this effort. Who better to connect the hospital’s business objectives with the health needs of consumers than those who know both sides best? As population health initiatives evolve, expect to see more hands involved in the efforts. This conversation is brought to you by P3 Inbound. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Unless we start seeing ourselves differently, we’re going to become irrelevant. Bold words from a bold man. Guest co-host Dan Dunlop, prolific healthcare marketer and president of Jennings, throws it down by challenging the assumption that marketers don't need to get involved with developing innovative technology. Care coordination, pop health and the return of the Top Hat of Marketing Awesomeness punctuate this episode. Plus real tales from the cactus rescue scene and a special note to naysayers.
