Episode Summary:This episode of the Event Tech Podcast explores the real-world performance of OpenAI's Operator, the agentic AI tool that promises to automate browser tasks on your behalf. Will shares his hands-on experience running Operator through its paces—from sending personalized Twitch messages to attempting LinkedIn research and even trying to buy festival tickets. Brandt and Will dissect what works, what doesn't, and why Operator currently feels less like a job-stealing super-agent and more like a well-meaning, but exasperating, digital intern. The conversation also touches on the future of agentic AI, the importance of user data, and the quirks of modern AI assistants.Discussions Include:What “agentic AI” actually means and how Operator fits the billReal-world Operator use cases: Twitch messaging, LinkedIn research, and online purchasesThe current limitations, quirks, and slowdowns of agentic AI toolsBroader implications for the future of work and the data arms race among tech giantsQuotable Quotes (Should you choose to share):"Once again, Will's taking the hit so that we don't have to, right? He's letting us know that it's not there yet." - Brandt Krueger"I think we're potentially in this world where I do think agents are starting to do things that we never would have comprehended." - Will Curran"It's like a really, really dumb intern. You show someone a task once and at least they get it, right? But this thing constantly forgets." - Will Curran"The tasks that you've given it are very close to the examples we gave when we first started talking about operator and agentic AI. It doesn't sound like it can do that yet." - Brandt Krueger

Sometimes a joke turns into a new life.Trish Jasinski had built a fulfilling, decades-long career in corporate marketing—and she really loved it. But during the pandemic, while working remotely from a very tiny Paris apartment, she started joking with friends that châteaux in the countryside were cheaper than her shoebox of a flat.Just for fun—and with zero plans to actually buy—she went château shopping. And then it happened. She stepped into Château de Gère, a 14th-century stone fortress tucked into the Vallée d'Ossau, and something inside her said, “This is it.”So she did the unthinkable: she bought it. With no plan. Just heart. Now, Trish lives in a quiet French village where sheep outnumber people, and she's turned the château into a beautiful retreat and event space. She's taken everything she learned from her corporate years and poured it into this new life—this wild, magical, entirely unexpected next chapter. In this episode, we talk about:Following a totally unserious whim that changed everythingWhy “no plan” doesn't mean “no purpose”Using your past experience in completely new waysListening to your intuition (even when it makes zero sense)Creating a life that's slower, sweeter, and more youConnect with TrishBook a stay at Château de Gère: https://chateaudegere.com/Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/chateaudegere/ Thanks for listening to The Career Flipper! If you enjoyed this episode, let's spread the word! Episode Overview In this episode of The ModGolf Podcast, host Colin Weston welcomes Cory Powell, co-founder and CEO of Hubble.GOLF. They discuss Cory's journey in golf, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the innovative platform Hubble.GOLF aims to create for golfers, their families and event organizers. Key Highlights Introduction to Hubble Golf Cory describes Hubble Golf as the "Expedia for golf events," aiming to be the largest searchable database for all things golf, including junior, amateur, and professional events. Cory's First Golf Experience Cory shares a heartfelt story about how his grandfather introduced him to golf at the age of eight, gifting him a set of junior clubs and taking him to a local driving range. The Entrepreneurial Journey From starting a pooper scooper service at eight years old to organizing tournaments and playing professionally, Cory's entrepreneurial spirit has been evident throughout his life. The AHA Moment for Hubble.GOLF Cory discusses the challenges he faced while trying to find golf events and how this led to the idea for Hubble.GOLF. He emphasizes the importance of collaboration and co-founding with Kevin Lewis, who brought technical expertise to the project. Market Research and Customer Validation Cory explains how he gathered feedback from golfers and parents to validate the need for Hubble.GOLF, including surveys that indicated a willingness to pay for the service. Mentorship and Personal Growth The importance of mentorship is highlighted as Cory shares his relationship with Jim Casino, who has provided guidance and support throughout his entrepreneurial journey. Risk-Taking in Entrepreneurship Cory reflects on his approach to risk-taking, emphasizing the need for passion, perseverance, and the ability to pivot when necessary. Cory Powell's journey is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and community in the world of golf and entrepreneurship. Listen in to discover his vision for Hubble.GOLF and the future of golf events. "Hubble.GOLF is the Expedia of golf events. So everything from junior golf, youth, amateur college, professional, charity, networking, green grass, non-green grass, we will be the largest searchable event database for all things golf. And the idea stemmed from my background trying to find events and figure out a schedule and put together an itinerary and what's the budget around that itinerary and how do I share that itinerary with other people? And that's what we've created." https://media24.fireside.fm/file/fireside-uploads-2024/images/1/1ea879c1-a4a2-4e10-bea4-e5d8368a3c7a/aLutd90o.jpg "On average a parent spends over four hours planning one individual event and a junior golfer participates anywhere between 12 and 18 events in a season. We save parents day's worth of time figuring out their child's season and ultimately save them money on their travel costs." "If you truly are passionate about what you do, you wake up every day invigorated and excited to get to work, to chase it, put in the work. It's not easy. You have to be disciplined. You have to be willing to do it. My grandpa always used to say, "you have to be willing to pay the price and do what others aren't willing to do." And that's long hours and hard work." Episode Summary:Brandt Krueger and Will Curran return with a lively breakdown of the latest trends spotted while judging the Eventex Awards, offering a behind-the-scenes look (within NDA limits) at where event technology is headed. From lightning-fast badge pickup and GDPR-compliant facial recognition to hyper-personalized attendee journeys and the resurgence of event bots, this episode unpacks the innovations shaping conferences, registration, AI, and event apps. The conversation also explores the tension between niche solutions and global platforms, the creative uses of Generative AI, and the growing importance of deep integrations between proprietary tools and third-party event apps.Since recording, the winners of the Global Eventex Awards have been announced, so be sure to check out the winners!https://eventex.com/winners2025Discussions Include: • How AI is transforming attendee journeys, reporting, and real-time event analytics • The rise of hyper-personalized registration flows and niche event tech providers • Creative uses of generative AI for art installations and next-gen word clouds • The return of event chatbots and the push for deeper, more meaningful event app integrationsQuotable Quotes (Should you choose to share):“Speed, right? That was one of the things- it was all about how quickly can we get thousands of people registered, get them their badges and things like that.” – Brandt Krueger“Most of these high-end registration platforms have the ability to really customize the journeys that your attendees will take. We're used to having a few different buckets for attendees… Well, now you can have 50 buckets.” – Brandt Krueger“Let's be honest, no one in planning space wants to learn to be a data analyst. That was the thing that I looked at for so long, especially when we were doing Klik and like there's so much data available to planners who just don't want to look at data.” – Will Curran“I just couldn't believe that finally, two years into this AI blooming that we're seeing, we're finally getting back to having good, decent event bots that can help us out with these things.” – Brandt Krueger

This week on the Seeds of Success podcast Dottie & Orly welcome Diana Burton from Ramstein Bowling Center, to discuss the importance of understanding customer demographics and creating memorable experiences through well-planned events.
Last week, my daughter graduated from Loyola University Chicago. After years of watching her build a life—on the field, on the sidelines, in the center of the action—she's stepping into the real world. And like so many graduates right now, she's walking in with drive, uncertainty, and a digital footprint that started long before her first job offer. This episode is a message to her—and to every graduate who needs a little direction that's not sugarcoated. It's a life list. The same one I've given my own kids (sometimes more than once). The same one I use with clients in crisis. In this episode:The top three questions students (and parents) ask me after every keynoteWhy your degree matters less than how well you can read a roomThe habits and mindsets that actually keep reputations intactWhat to say in your first “I don't know what to do” moment at workAnd the one thing every Gen Z grad needs to hear—especially those shaped by the pandemic yearsThis is not motivational filler. It's a real list for the real world. Send it to your grad. Save it for your kid. Or come back to it when your own clarity runs low.Read the entire list here on my PR Breakdown Substack: What No One Tells New Grads About Crisis Communication (And Life) Want More Behind the Breakdown?
