Erik takes your computer questions.  Ring Doorbell and parent company Amazon face lawsuit over alleged camera security hacks.  Erik tries out the "smart" Nexx garage door opener.  Contractor admits to planting "logic bombs" in software to ensure continued work.  A listener asks for help in uninstalling his McAfee software in Windows 10.  A caller seeks advice in backing up her computer before upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  Upgrade questions continue as a listener asks if Windows 7 computers will stop working after Microsoft stops issuing security updates.  Windows 7 computers will actually continue to work, but will stop receiving security updates. However, Windows Defender antivirus software will still receive updates from Microsoft.  A caller running Windows 7 seeks a specifications for a replacement desktop computer.  We recommend an Intel i5 processor, 8th or 9th generation processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, solid state or hybrid drive running Windows 10.  Also she is seeking a replacement for the Google Picasa photo management software that she likes, but is no longer updated by Google.  A caller looks for specifications for a computer for financial-only transactions

Adobe sends letter warning users of older Creative Cloud software that they may be subject to lawsuits by third parties. DJI releases GoPro-like Osmo Action, plus the Osmo Pocket combination camera and gimbal. A caller has problems opening getting geographic location information displaying correctly from photographs in Windows 10. He also is looking for an economical alternative to Adobe Photoshop. A Windows 7 user seeks for a way to transfer information from her older computer to a newer one, plus she seeks an alternative program as a replacement to Google Picasa to manage photos. An adventure hiker looks for a suitable durable camera, possibly mirrorless, that has a telephoto lens. A listener with low resolution pictures stored on a digital keychain seeks a way to enlarge pictures without losing picture quality.

Erik and Bob take your questions. Google Chrome has a security vulnerability; time to update to stay safe. Microsoft's new Edge browser looks like Google Chrome. Tech Tip: Turn off "Fast Startup" in Windows 10 so that Windows 10 shuts down for real. "Smart" car alarms left 3 million cars vulnerable to hacking. Only one Blockbuster video rental store is left in the world. A listener wants to know if there is a replacement program for Google Picasa photo management program and if the program can be used on a new computer. Is "secure" e-mail secure after it leaves your computer? We discuss the basics of keeping your e-mail secure and encrypted. An iPhone user has a problem with photos that get rotated when sent by e-mail. What is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) ands why would you need one? Also, a listener asks if a computer is safe while sleeping vs. turning it off. A caller asks if using two security software (Webroot and Malwarebytes' Antimalware) at the same time will cause a problem using the computer. A user has a problem with a .NET framework update pop-up and a "No Scan Options available" message.

They also have released a new version of the free MyHeritage app that allows you to "edit on the go."
