YouTube is being criticized for serving up “AI slop” to kids. AP correspondent Donna Warder reports.
This week on The Hi Tide Podcast, the message is clear: Stay off the water! We are tracking an intense East Coast Low bringing 25–30 knot winds, embedded storms up to 70 knots, and massive 10-meter swells offshore. It's a "zero out" weekend for boating, with major events like the Shoalhaven Game Fishing Tournament and the yacht race to Coffs Harbour already cancelled. In this episode:Boating Safety & Fuel Tech with Alan Blake: The Owner of Blakes Marine joins us to discuss why this weekend is just too dangerous for the family or the gear. Alan also provides a critical Tech Tip on fuel efficiency—learn why 3800–4200 RPM is your "sweet spot" and why trimming your boat correctly (until it cavitates, then backing down) can save you serious money at the pump.Greg Reid (Prolure Australia): Brought to you by prolureaustralia.com.au, Greg finds the silver lining in the storm. While he's swapping the rods for a surfboard to catch those rare 10-meter swells inside Jervis Bay, he shares why the "storm surge" tides will fire up the fishing in St George's Basin once things settle. We also talk about the incredible versatility of the Hybrid Shrimp—a lure that's catching everything from Bream in Gippsland to Barra in Awoonga.Stephen Bowler (Tenterfield Firearms): "Cat1" joins us from tenterfieldfirearms.com.au to talk high-country conditions and the political landscape facing fishos and hunters. Steve shares the latest from Tenterfield, including the need for rain and what to expect as we transition into a cold autumn.Isaac (1up Fishing): Social media sensation Isaac breaks down the current bite in Botany Bay and Port Hacking. Before the storm hit, it was a Bonito blitz out the front, with school Jewies and big solo Flathead congregating around the runways. Isaac gives his top tips for land-based options while the swell is up.Special Offer from Blakes Marine: Alan is lighting the tunnel for those feeling the pinch. Send us a textAre you a connoisseur of cask ale?Cask ales aren't wildly popular in the US, but they have their fans. For folks in the Atlanta area we do have a couple of places known for the quality of their casks, and they put up some unique offerings. In a huge announcement the Siebel Institute announced they'll be leaving Chicago, a city they've called home for 157 years. The prestigious brewing school cited immigration policies as part of the reason for the move. Users on Facebook debated the validity of that claim. Either way, they'll be heading to Canada very soon.Tilray is all over the news lately. A reverse stock split, closing Revolver, and rumors they may be interested in buying Rogue. In today's Daily Fix:The newly revamped Steam Machine has been the talk of the industry since its reveal last week. Unfortunately we don't know the price just yet, but Linus Sebastian over at Tech Tips doesn't think it'll be cheap. Sebastian recalled a conversation in which Valve acknowledged it won't be sold at a 'console price,' i.e., around $500. We here at IGN think it'll sell for—on the low end—$700-800. In other news, Battlefield 6 had a strong debut month, coming in at number one in game sales. Its closest competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, just dropped this month, so it remains to be seem who wins the holidays. And finally, Silent Hill 2 Remake is now available for Xbox Series X after being shadow dropped with a nice 50% discount.

We’re wrapping up our series on how to have your best vacation ever. We’ve already covered the power of setting and sharing expectations, along with eight intentional steps to make your time away more meaningful. But what happens when tech distractions sneak in and start to steal those special moments? In this episode, we’re revisiting five practical tech tips to help you stay focused on what really matters during your vacation. A few thoughtful boundaries can go a long way toward keeping your attention—and your heart—right where it belongs. In this episode, John discusses: Setting clear boundaries for technology use Using digital tools without letting them take over Modeling intentional tech habits for others Capturing memories creatively without relying on phones Getting active to help minimize screen time Key Takeaways: Designate specific times and areas where phones and devices are off-limits—like meals, game time, or evenings. These tech-free zones help protect face-to-face connection and make space for deeper conversations. Schedule intentional moments for using phones—whether it’s snapping photos, checking in with friends, or finding local spots to explore—so tech use stays purposeful, not constant. Lead by example when it comes to phone habits. Others, especially kids, will often mirror what they see, so your own behavior can gently shape the group’s overall tech use. Bring along a digital or disposable camera to encourage creativity without defaulting to your phone. It adds fun to memory-making and invites everyone to see the trip from a different perspective. Plan active group moments that naturally draw attention away from screens—like a hike, a game, or a walk on the beach. Physical activity often creates space for presence, laughter, and lasting memories. “Stay prayerful, flexible, graceful, and kind. Even with preparations and expectations set and shared, and tech tips in place, and doing your best, a plan is still only a plan.” Resources Mentioned: How Teens and Parents Approach Screen Time by Pew Research Center: https://www.pewresearch.org/internet/2024/03/11/how-teens-and-parents-approach-screen-time/ CLICK ON THE LINKS BELOW MORE MONEY MADE FAITHFUL!
