Guinness is treated as a beer as often as a brewery, as if it is a single, immutable force. Like Pacifico or Heineken, naming the company names the beer. Yet the beer we think of when we name the brewery doesn't date to 1759, but two hundred years later.
Welcome to #BeerFestFridays! In this episode of Beerfest Friday's we welcome our special guest Dr. Ray. The guys talked about his holistic approach to health and fitness and its similarities with CrossFit methodologies and a few possible differences. The guys discuss topics such as the foundation to good health, informative lab results and how that determines Dr. Ray's recommendation to patients and how to safely train whether it's CrossFit or any physical exercises. In this episode we also mentioned how chiropractic adjustments play a role, but couldn’t demonstrate on Boris since we were already several beers in by that point. Beer: Ready for St. Patrick’s Day with Guinness Black and Blonde: One Guinness Blonde, followed by a slow pour over a spoon of Guinness Draft to create a black and blonde layered effect.
Danny Hoyt (@dannyhoyt) is a writer, producer and network television host for the likes of National Geographic, Fox, CBS, NFL, while still finding time to make it back home to LA each weekend to live host for the LA Chargers. At least, that’s what anyone with an internet connection sees… Anyone that knows Danny personally knows that his passion is far greater than just becoming a famous face on TV. We met back in the day studying at the same University and I’m not sure if I’ve ever met someone as quick witted, comfortable in an circumstance you put him or as magnetic. I had a chance to sit down with Danny while he was in town and our conversation ended up being one that would inspire just about anyone to get off their butt and start making things happen for themselves. Otherwise, I would have to tell you to visit Guinness’ website HERE Otherwise, I’d be inclined to tell you that Guinness Draft (with it’s distinctive dark amber body and rich creamy head) is possibly God’s greatest gift to mankind and is the sole reason I’m thankful for being alive after it’s birth in 1759.I’d also have to recommend that you to hire Narrate Films for your next video/film/music-video/photo booth/wedding photography/any photography needs and to visit their website HERE. Hell… they took the photos for this podcast and they turned out pretty bad ass if you ask me.
Tyler Burkum (@tylerburkum) is an internationally touring and studio guitarist (Mat Kearney, Leagues, The Cactus Blossoms, Ingrid Michaelson... just to name a few) He’s a brilliant composer/songwriter too… but I didn’t interview him because of all that nonsense. I played with Tyler a few months back and as soon as we got to talking, I knew that I needed to sit down one-on-one over beers and chat. The way this guy approaches life and thinks about things will inspire you to want to be more open to what life has to offer even if you’re not a musician. In this episode we talk about: -Being cool with not being the right person for every gig -Realizing that being present in the moment is more important than anything else -Tyler’s experience being picked up at 17 to go on a rock tour -Overseas tattoo stories -The enjoyment of traveling with music and the education of traveling the world. How it changes the way you view life and culture -Deciding to be someone who says yes -Letting your mind remind your heart to ease it’s insecurities. -the pointlessness of being competitive in music -Producing yourself: The need to accept who you are and who you’re not. The importance of knowing what you’re NOT good at. -What ’success’ means to Tyler -Using social media as a musician -Advice Tyler would give to his past self that may just change your life.
