Send me a Text Message! You know I look around in central PA, and it's not just here, I hear of stirrings in other places as well. I think Jesus is getting ready to bring his church into a new season; a season of seeing His Kingdom come in new ways; a season of making a serious difference in the world around us. It won't happen without prayer and breakthrough prayer is almost always connected to fasting. But Isaiah 58 reminds us that fasting and prayer isn't enough. In fact, Isaiah reminds us that while we won't make a difference if we don't pray, our prayers won't even be heard if we don't care about the people around us. But if we care, then a new day will come and you can barely imagine a life like the one Isaiah 58 says is coming!
The dispute over Western Sahara is one of Africa's longest running wars – starting in 1975. It pits Morocco against the Polisario Front- an Algerian backed political movement. But while the international community has focussed on finding a diplomatic solution – the plight of the indigenous Sahrawi people, who used to live on the disputed land, is often forgotten. They have been living in difficult-to-access refugee camps in Algeria for the past 50 years, amidst allegations that they're being used as pawns in a wider struggle. So what is their life like? And is there any hope that this long running conflict can be resolved? GUESTS: Moroccan politician and activist, Lahcen Haddad, and the BBC's Sally Nabil who's visited the camps.

After a hiatus, we are back, much like our beloved Hoosiers. IU is playing it best basketball of the year over the last month, despite (or some might argue because) Mike Woodson's announced retirement at season's end. IU marches into March with a chance to make the NCAA tournament, which seemed all but lost mid-conference play. An Interview with Dr. Meredith J. C. Warren We asked Dr. Meredith J. C. Warren to describe how Jesus's family and followers would have practiced their religion. They were probably a typical Jewish family, where the types of houses and everyday life were all intertwined with religious practices. She claims that both Jesus and his mother were probably less unusual than we have been taught to think, especially in everyday life—except that Jesus was probably more radical in his commitment to Torah teachings. Dr. Meredith J. C. Warren is a Senior Lecturer in Biblical and Religious Studies at the University of Sheffield, in England, where she is director of the Sheffield Centre for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies and is editor in chief of its journal, The Journal of Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies. She is also an associate editor for the Enoch Seminar Online Reviews. Her publications include several books and articles, and they cover topics such as gender, anti-Judaism, feminism, the senses, and clothing for early Judaism and early Christianity. Her co-authorship of Jewish and Christian Women in the Ancient Mediterranean provides the basis of this podcast interview. In addition to this interview on the Bible and Beyond Podcast, Warren has given interviews on BBC Radio, NPR, and The Guardian. A transcript of this interview is available here: https://earlychristiantexts.com/jesus-practice-religion/.

Maclean's journalist Claire Gagne looks at what that means for both the young adults stuck in their childhood bedrooms, and their parents' hopes and dreams for retirement — and perhaps an empty nest.

Rev. Jodi is grateful to have Dr. JR Heiz, Dr. Vibe back on Self-Cell Care to explore what it means to live your life like a ritual. What is a Ritual? Rituals are intricate and purposeful sequences of actions that embody profound cultural significance and personal meaning. Drawing from the insights of Dr. JR and anthropological perspectives, a ritual can be defined as a stylized and formalized practice often involving gestures, words, and revered objects that transcends ordinary activities. These actions are not merely functional; they serve to signify transformation and convey deeper meanings within both community and individual contexts. They are orderly prescribed action patterns of movement and speech reportedly separated from mundane activities in a rather clear manner. This formalism sanctions the rituals to make it all about holiness, which enables men and women to tap into something greater than themselves: the culture, faith, or purpose. Further, rituals are a mechanism for the crossover between the profane and the sacred. They enable efficient delivery of the provisions by offering organized templates of existence, which one can use to understand the inner and outer world. Thus, as Rubin suggests, ritual is a type of system of symbolic practice through which people turn inchoate feelings into something more readily perceptible in terms of meaning. In today's podcast, we are looking at life for people with Down Syndrome in Africa. Down Syndrome is a genetic condition where a person is born with an extra chromosome; they'll have an extra copy of chromosome 21, making 47 chromosomes instead of the usual 46. It alters the development of the body and brain, leading to delays in areas like speech. In Africa, people with the condition often face additional barriers, a shorter life expectancy because of limited healthcare, delayed diagnosis, and scarce support systems. Opportunities for education and employment can also be hard to come by which exacerbates the stigma they experience. So, what can be done to begin to change this? Africa Daily's Alan Kasujja hears from Eunice Koros, a Kenyan mother, and her son Ivan Kiprono, a 26-year-old man with Down Syndrome who works at their family factory. He also speaks to David Maxwell, Project Manager for the Down Syndrome Association of Ghana, who shares how witnessing his sister's life with the condition inspired him to advocate for change.

Does that mean nobody does anything to prepare since they're not exactly sure which will happen? Of course not! The same can apply to our day-to-day lives.
