Justin Ebert is back in the studio with Jim Johnson and Ryan Vincent for Week 7 of the Year Through the Bible reading plan at Sunnybrook, diving into Leviticus 16–27 and Mark 3–4. Together they wrestle with the passages many readers avoid or misunderstand: Is Leviticus a burden or was it a gift of grace, order, and revelation to God's people? What does atonement really mean, and how does the Day of Atonement prepare us for the cross of Christ? They tackle the often-debated tattoo verse, explore God's sexual ethic and why biblical boundaries are framed as blessing rather than restriction, and address common objections about “Jesus never said…” The conversation also probes the tension between “eye for eye” and “turn the other cheek,” the meaning of “forever” in covenant language, and the sobering warnings about blasphemy and the unforgivable sin.

Tattoo culture has always been wrapped in rebellion, late nights, and heavy drinking, but what happens when an artist decides to create without numbing? In this episode of That Sober Guy Podcast, Shane Ramer sits down with renowned tattoo artist Jeff Crabtree to talk about art, identity, discipline, and the uncomfortable truths no one wants to admit about creativity and alcohol. Jeff opens up about his journey through addiction, tattoo culture, and how sobriety didn't kill his edge, it sharpened it. Together, they unpack why so many creative industries normalize burnout and substance use, how sobriety changes the way you show up in your craft, and what it really takes to build a legacy instead of just a reputation. This conversation goes deeper than tattoos. It's about mastery, presence, masculinity, and creating something meaningful without destroying yourself in the process. In this episode, we cover: How sobriety impacts creativity, focus, and discipline Identity beyond the “artist lifestyle” The difference between rebellion and self-control What it means to build long-term success without self-sabotage Whether you're an artist, entrepreneur, or just someone questioning the role alcohol plays in your life, this episode will challenge some deeply ingrained narratives, and challenges the status quo. www.lighthousetattooidaho.com @lighthousetattoo.id Warrior Heart Boot Camp - Use promo code SOBERGUY and get $100 off any 2026 Boot Camp! In 2005 (and 2008 for the American translation), the posthumous release of Swedish author Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Trilogy" took the world by storm. A series of Swedish cinematic adaptations soon followed, making even bigger pop culture icons of the characters of Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist, and Lisbeth Salander, the punk computer hacker with a mysterious past. And then, Hollywood decided to take their crack at it...not once, but twice. And we're investigating both, with our "The Girl with the Failed February Franchises" theme month! First, a look at 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Directed by David Fincher and starring Daniel Craig as Blomkvist and Rooney Mara as Salander, the American adaptation was seen by some as a more prestigious adaptation of the first book in Larsson's series; a surefire awards contender and franchise starter. But was it released too soon after the Swedish films? Was its subject matter actually too dark for American audiences, especially given its Christmas release? We explore these questions and more, including how the film rates as part of Fincher's overall filmography, and what it meant for his career moving forward. Dillan Judkins grew up in Utah after being put up for adoption at birth by his mother, who was struggling with addiction, and raised by a loving Mormon family — but rebellion, alcohol, and trouble started early. In this episode, Dillan shares how a sexual assault charge stemming from a one-night stand at a party when he was 18 changed his life forever, leading to months in county jail awaiting trial, a probation deal, repeated violations, and ultimately spending nearly 15 years inside the Utah prison system. He explains how he survived prison with a stigmatizing charge, his side of the story, the realities of navigating the system, and the long-term impact incarceration has had on his life, identity, and future. _____________________________________________ #UtahPrison #PrisonStories #TrueCrime #PrisonLife #HowISurvived #InmateStories #LockedIn #podcast _____________________________________________ Connect with Dillan Judkins: Facebook & Instagram: InkkEnvyy Tiktok: inkk.envy _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Shop Locked In Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Arrested at Home: Waking Up to Police 00:34 Growing Up Adopted in Rural Utah 02:26 Finding My Biological Parents 03:34 Family Struggles & Feeling Like the Outsider 05:52 Rebellion, Church, and Early Violence 09:35 Losing Control 14:14 School Trouble & First Criminal Behavior 18:14 Dropping Out & Alternative School Life 21:12 The Night Everything Changed 29:14 Police Investigation & Interrogation 32:40 Charged With Serious Crimes & First Time in Jail 38:00 Jail Politics & Surviving Serious Charges 46:06 Trial Prep, Legal Mistakes & Taking a Plea Deal 52:35 Regret, Probation Violation & Sentenced to Prison 01:00:28 Living With a Life-Changing Sentence 01:06:07 County Jails, Prison Life & Treatment Programs 01:13:00 Inside the Sex Offender Program 01:24:09 Prison Reputation, Tattoos & Survival 01:32:00 Life After Prison: Stigma, Labels & Reality 01:40:13 Loss, Reflection & Lessons Learned Learn more about your ad choices. Van Halen officially announced Tokyo Dome Live in Concert on February 5, 2015, following months of fan speculation and a leak just days earlier. Released March 31, 2015, the album became the band's first live record with original frontman David Lee Roth and bassist Wolfgang Van Halen, capturing the group on their A Different Kind of Truth tour in front of a massive Tokyo Dome crowd. The setlist spans every Roth-era Van Halen album, from the 1978 debut through 2012's A Different Kind of Truth, mixing early classics like “Runnin' with the Devil,” “Unchained,” and “Panama” with newer tracks such as “Tattoo” and “She's the Woman.” While the release was celebrated as a major reunion-era document, it also drew criticism in some circles for Roth's live vocal performance. According to Eddie Van Halen, the band first considered remixing early pre-fame demos, but the original tapes couldn't be located. They then explored releasing vintage club recordings, only to find the sound quality unusable. Instead, the band recorded every show on the 2012–2013 tour via Pro Tools, and Roth ultimately chose the Tokyo Dome performance as the official live release. The album's cover art updates Cassandre's classic 1935 painting of the SS Normandie, tying a vintage visual style to a modern live document of the band. Tokyo Dome Live in Concert would also go on to be the final Van Halen album released during Eddie Van Halen's lifetime, making it a significant closing chapter in the band's discography. Featuring David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Alex Van Halen, the album stands as a snapshot of Van Halen's late-era live sound and a full-career celebration of the Roth catalog. "Exclusively Van Halen" is your ultimate destination for all things Van Halen. From deep dives into the band's legendary history to giveaways and gear showcases, we celebrate one of the greatest rock bands of all time — every week.

Instead, he explains why periods of intensity — followed by rest — are actually the key to transforming your life. Some of the things we discuss are: Why you should stop trying to balance money, health, and relationships simultaneously The problem with trying to get "1% better every day" How to use "seasons" of intensity to level up your life The simple "Hats vs. Tattoos" rule for making faster decisions without regret Why having fewer friends might actually make you happier and less lonely How to create an "off-season checklist" so you don't feel guilty about the things you aren't focusing on right now How to launch a "micro-season" to tackle your biggest goals in just 30 days Subscribe to Mentally Stronger Premium for exclusive content like weekly bonus episodes, mental strength challenges, and office hours with me. The Bay Area is home to one of the most concentrated Filipino communities in the nation. Their history in the Bay Area goes back more than 100 years, but many of the neighborhoods they established, like San Francisco's “Manila Town” have since been torn down and replaced - the result of urban renewal and property development in the late 1970's.But their legacy and cultural impact lives on today. The South of Market neighborhood of San Francisco was formally recognized as a historically Filipino district back in 2016. It's home to many Filipino businesses. And a new shop is now bringing a long time Filipino tradition to the neighborhood. KALW reporter Viviana Vivas meets one of the artists there, who is using ink and needles to make a mark on people's bodies, and in the neighborhood.
The Upside-Down Kingdom is a three-part podcast series exploring Jesus' Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. Together, we look at how Jesus redefines blessing, power, and righteousness—calling his followers into a way of life shaped not by success or control, but by mercy, integrity, trust, and love.Show Notes - David Roth Sermon: https://share.transistor.fm/s/1e0eb87f- Tattoos on the Heart by Gregory Boyle: https://shorturl.at/T4J2ZDiscussion Questions1. When you hear the word blessed, what images or assumptions come to mind?2. Which Beatitude feels hardest to accept as truly “blessed”?3. How does Jesus' definition of blessing challenge cultural ideas of success?4. Where in your life might God be closer than you expected — precisely because of weakness or loss?5. What would change if you believed blessing was about nearness to God rather than comfort?

On this week's @betches, Aleen and Sami try to cope with the state of the world and kick things off with Sami's wildly specific dream about surviving a fascism with Aleen. They pivot to Grammys weekend for a full fashion detour, dissecting Margot Robbie's Wuthering Heights press-tour gown and how Lauren Sanchez can make outfit look cheap. Then it is back to the Blake Lively legal timeline, asking if filming with an unsigned acting contract is normal, why Travis Kelce did not quit while he was ahead, and what exactly Sydney Sweeney's marketing team is trying to sell. Finally, they land in Beckhamland to tally Brooklyn's tattoo math and ask what all of this says about the health of the relationship. In this Ask Away #28 episode of Everyday Judaism, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe answers live and emailed questions on practical halacha and deeper Jewish life:Netilat yadayim technique — One continuous flow is ideal; your wrist-to-fingers method is fine if uninterrupted.Running water / faucets — Requires human force (koach gavra); turn faucet on/off repeatedly so first spurt washes each hand.Morning blessings order — Body needs first (restroom), then wash hands + Al Netilat Yadayim, Asher Yatzar, Elokai Neshama (attach them); Modeh Ani immediately upon waking.Aliyah in current times — Massive wave of aliyah is real and prophetic; if livelihood transfers easily, move (great mitzvah—every moment/step in Eretz Yisrael is a mitzvah); if not, stay and be intentional (e.g., spread Torah, as Rabbi does in Houston). Cultural/language barriers for children over 6 are real; prepare spiritually (Torah growth, closeness to Hashem) for Moshiach—have a "go bag" ready.Tattoos & henna — Tattoos forbidden biblically; henna generally permitted (ask rabbi); neither blocks hand-washing unless substantial chatzitzah.Infidelity & King Solomon — Torah forbids casual intimacy outside marriage; Solomon's 1,000 wives/concubines is a cautionary tale—he later warns against it. Rabbinic decree limits men to one wife at a time. Modern promiscuity/infidelity rises with internet; use filters/accountability, delete temptations, prioritize emotional depth via niddah laws.Shabbat automatic toilets — Triggering sensors is problematic (creative labor); if unavoidable, some poskim permit as gram/indirect; best avoid or use manual options.Finding a rabbi — Pursue actively (run after them); persistence (e.g., persistent voicemails) works; rabbi guides halacha/life; don't wait for one to chase you.The rabbi shares personal stories (mikvah healing soul-leaving sensation, persistent rabbi outreach) and stresses intentional Judaism, community, and using modern tools for good while guarding against harm. Please submit your questions at askaway@torchweb.org_____________The Everyday Judaism Podcast is dedicated to learning, understanding and appreciating the greatness of Jewish heritage and the Torah through the simplified, concise study of Halacha, Jewish Law, thereby enhancing our understanding of how Hashem wants us to live our daily lives in a Jewish way._____________This Podcast Series is Generously Underwritten by Marshall & Doreen LernerDownload & Print the Everyday Judaism Halacha Notes:https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RL-PideM42B_LFn6pbrk8MMU5-zqlLG5This episode (Ep. #82) of the Everyday Judaism Podcast by Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe of TORCH is dedicated to my dearest friends, Marshall & Doreen Lerner! Doesn't it feel like we've all been here before? Have we gotten stuck on the old treadmill of time? Perhaps it's a leak from the hourglass of the canceled Prince of Persia game. As such we're stuck reliving not a particular moment or day, but a few years. Or maybe it's just that history rhymes. Either way, we do have a revist within the manga. Up again is Tim with more Taboo Tattoo. We're still with Seigi who has magical void powers that are triggered by Blood. We also meet the princess of tattoland who is not a gothic porn star from the two thousands. The pace continues moving too … Continue reading "Manga Pulse 551: Imaginary Tattoo"
