Mike sat down on the floor of the crowded gymnasium. He was preparing for his wrestling match and running through his regular warmups and stretches. Then he saw them, Phil and Bobby coming up between the mats straight toward him. Rivals since grade school, these two were his nemesis. They had tormented him at every match their rival school attended. Along with being formidable opponents, their comments, and gestures could be ANTICIPATED, and always upset their rivals. Mike ANTICIPATED their particular brand of insults most days. However, today was special, it was the high school state finals, there were some scouts there from a couple of top universities, and Phil, the best in his class, was matched ironically with Mike to wrestle within the hour. Phil started with his “red head” insults, and worked his way right to his infamous“yo mama” routine, rounding out his verbal barrage with the intent of getting into Mike's head. Afterward he continued with a “top 10 list” of why Mike shouldn't be in the same building as him. Mike's ANTICIPATION might have worked him up to counter with insults, gestures and rebuttals. Instead Mike just smiled and used a humor redirection to lighten the mood by saying, “Yea, my dog would say the same thing if he could talk. Of course if he could talk I'd be rich, and in another state wrestling someone else today. Guess it's your lucky day…” Phil and Bobby were caught off balance and muttered something rude as they pushed past. Phil said, “ See you in the ring we'll settle this there.” By the time Phil entered the ring he was visibly wound as tight as a clock spring. Mike on the other hand just smiled and offered his hand in the traditional hand shake gesture before the match started. Phil knocked his hand out of the way, and the referee immediately signaled to start. Mike ANTICIPATED almost everything including Phil's over confident attack. With a single leg inside rip Phil hit the mat hard, and Mike was on him for the pin. The crowd went wild. Winner! In life how often do we know what might be coming? Yet how often do we use our super powers of ANTICIPATION to calm ourselves, and get in our “good place,” powerfully prepared to win, calmly, peacefully, and easily. Next time you face an ANTICIPATED conflict consider using the time to wind down, not wind up, and center yourself for winning the conflict before it starts… Allen Hughes Life Defense Coach #lifedefense #anticipate #allenhughes --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/allen-hughes/message

Few people would blame Mike Turner if his heart were full of rage. His only child - his best friend in the entire world - was gunned down during the Dayton mass shooting. In the days since, Mike has been angry, but he refuses to let hate rule the day. Instead Mike is spreading a message of love and conversation. Through #Loganhugs, the retired car salesman with a big heart hopes to remind people that tomorrow is not promised and love and a simple hug are very powerful things. Mike explains why he leaves messages on napkins in restaurants and why he hugged hundreds of people at the recent Gem City Shine concert hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle. Mike and What Had Happened Was host Amelia Robinson talk about Logan and the legacy he has left behind. Cox Media Group Ohio, including WHIO, Dayton Daily News and Dayton.com, has partnered with the Dayton Foundation in the Dayton Oregon District Tragedy Fund. The fund allows individuals to make charitable contributions to help the families directly affected by this terrible tragedy. Episode #89: Alita: Battle Angel

First episode of year two from the Reel Film Nerds podcast and man it’s a highly anticipated movie!  Today Mike Talent and Maniac Matt discuss James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s latest epic Alita: Battle Angel.  Bonus discussion includes 21st Amendment Brewery, Jennifer Connelly is still super-hot at almost 50, and what exactly is Manga. Alita: Battle Angel is being destroyed by critics and financially at the box office.  Honestly your hosts don’t care.  They both really enjoyed the movie and think you should go see it too.  Is it the perfect movie, no, but it is a hell of a lot of fun!  With that being said it is not for everyone.  If you enjoy action, technology, special effects, robots, or comic books you will enjoy this movie.  Maniac Matt really liked Alita and almost gave it 4.5 Reels, but he let the film stew in his mind for a day and settled on 4 out of 5 Reels.  The biggest issues he had with the film is the just horrible forced love story and the sometimes-rough dialog.  Mike Talent also really enjoyed this film and almost gave it 4 out of 5 Reels like Matt but one issue Mike and Matt clearly have a telepathic link.  Mr. Talent figured Matt would give it 4 Reels and wanted to make sure he was harsher than Matt.  He gives Alita: Battle Angel 3.5 out of 5 Reels.  To sum it all up don’t give up on this one before you see it.  Go watch it and decide for yourself.  The special effects alone are well worth the price of admission. This Thursday the guys had to change the movie they are reviewing.  Fighting with My Family was pushed back a week, why who knows.  Instead Mike picked a Tributary film also based on a comic book that was recently released on Netflix, Polar.  Thanks for tuning in for the start of our second-year podcasting.  Do us a favor and help us grow our listeners this year by telling your friends, rating, and review us on iTunes.  Talk at you Thursday! WELCOME TO A HOPEFULLY RARE SOLO EPISODE OF TALES OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA! Scott is on hiatus but that hasn't stopped Mike from recording a brand, spanking new episode of TALES. There's no ALL-STAR SQUADRON talk this time out because Mike wants to hold off on that series until Scott gets back. Instead Mike has gone back to the very beginning of Earth-2 with THE FLASH #123, which features the classic "Flash of Two Worlds" story. In that epic tale Barry Allen winds up on a world very much like his own but slightly different. On that world there is no Central City. Instead there is Keystone City, home of Jay Garrick the Golden Age Flash! Barry gets to meet his boyhood hero and even team up with him against the Thinker, the Fiddler and the Shade! It's a fun story that got the whole multiverse ball rolling. After giving you the lowdown on the story Mike has some notes to go through including the shocking absence of a certain term from the story, why Jay Garrick was so darn trusting and which villain Mike changed his mind about. Mike hopes that you like the show and will stick with the program while Scott is gone. Next week: Flash #129 and possibly #137!
