James T. Meeks is the founder and Pastor Emeritus of Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. Over the course of his ministry, Pastor Meeks has sought to serve his community in various ways, to bring holistic gospel-centered renewal to his city. This message was given at the 2024 CGN International Conference, where the theme was, "Hope, Suffering and Glory: Studies in the Book of 1 Peter." He graduated from Northwestern University and studied at Butler University, where Michael Shasberger advised and mentored him. He served on the advisory committee of the newly published African American Heritage Hymnal (GIA Publications) and is in demand as a choral clinician.
